  • The purpose of this study is to explore ways to improve major satisfaction that can be applied by universities through the analysis of factors influencing major satisfaction of engineering college students. To this end, Korea-National Survey of Student Engagement(K-NSSE) data involving 814 students from T University were used, and logistic regression analysis and t-test were applied. The main results obtained through this are as follows. First, engineering college students' major satisfaction factors include major-career relevance, college immersion, and positive academic sentiment. Second, depending on the grade, it was confirmed that the factor of major-career relevance in the lower grades, and the factors of meaningful learning experience and college immersion in addition to major-career relevance in the upper grades had a significant influence. Third, the higher the meaningful learning experience, positive academic sentiment, and college immersion, including the major-career relevance, the higher the major satisfaction was found in the middle-class group with a score of BO or higher. This study is meaningful in that it revealed differences in influence by individual characteristics as well as major satisfaction influencing factors that can be practiced in universities such as learning experiences.

  • Major depression is a devastating disorder of which lifetime prevalence rate is as high as up to 25% in general population. Although the etiology of the disorder is still poorly understood, it is generally accepted that both genetic and environmental factors are involved in the precipitation of depression. Stressful lifetime events are potent precipitating environmental factors for major depression and early-life stress is in particular an important element that predisposes individuals to major depression later in life. How environmental factors such as stress can make our neural networks susceptible to depression and how those factors leave long-lasting influences have been among the major questions in the field of depression research. Epigenetic regulations can provide a bridging mechanism between environmental factors and genetic factors so that these two factors can additively determine individual predispositions to major depression. Here we introduce epigenetic regulations as candidate mechanisms that mediate the integration of environmental adversaries with genetic predispositions, which may lead to the development of major depression, and summarize basic molecular events that underlie epigenetic regulations as well as experimental evidences that support the active role of epigenetic regulation in major depression.

  • This research aims to explore the factors affecting engineering students' major persistence and career decision. To achieve this goal, the experiences and perceptions of engineering students and other stakeholders regarding the factors influencing engineering students' major persistence and career decision were analyzed through online focus group interviews (FGI). The analysis of the interviews resulted in the identification of seven categories, which include meeting with older alumni, team project experiences, and internship experiences as factors influencing major persistence. Additionally, engineering interest, engineering self-efficacy, employment rates, economic factors, and limitations in women engineers' career development were identified as factors affecting career decision. Based on these findings, it is expected that engineering education will develop plans that focus on supporting the major persistence and career development of engineering students, thereby contributing to the future direction of engineering education.

  • The recent information society is affected by new technologies including EC(Electronic Commerce), CALS(Commerce At Light Speed), EDI(Electronic Data Interchange), telecommuting and teleconferencing. The research goal of this paper is to identify major failure factors to reduce the dysfunction of EC and to suggest possible strategies that overcome those obstacles. The research methodologies of major failure factors are very similar to those of critical success factors which were widely used in MIS research areas. Ideally EC provides the possibility of a win/win situation for vendors and consumers. A survey study was performed using questionnaires. The factor analysis was performed to identify failure factors. Several hypotheses were set up to identify the major failure factors to reduce the dysfunction of EC. The regession analysis was performed to test those hypotheses and to understand the relationships between the major failure factors identified and the performance variables such as satisfaction, usage, and usefulness. Finally, the paper suggests alternatives to activate EC in terms of regulations, social rules, a technological model, etc.

  • Study on correspondent of eastern and western astrology and Jung's psychological types, we obtain as follow as results. Western astrology is transmitted from China and developed, it influenced on the study of the Four Pillars(四柱學). Comparing assemble, gathering, punishment, destruction, collision, impair of Di-zhi(地支) in the study of Four Pillars with Xing-gong theory(星宮論) in the western astrology, can get the result that the Pillars study has close connection with astronomy and astrology. When we compared Jung's psychological types with astrology, the five elements(五行) and the four major factors, can be summarized like this. (1) intuition-fire sign-wood and fire-fire in the four major factors(四大), (2) sensation-earth sign-earth and metal-earth in the four major factors, (3) thinking-air sign-metal and water-wind in the four major factors, (4) feeling-water sign-water and wood-water in the four major factors. The four major factors of Buddhism is now understood as, earth, water and fire represent the state of solid(earth), liquid(water), gas(fire) and wind can be recognized as energy source help the changes. • The purpose of this study is 1) to compare the employment status and wage level of "Clothing and Fashion" major (CF major) graduates with those from other majors and 2) to examine factors affecting the employment status and wage level of CF major university graduates. The data were pooled from the 2009-2012 Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey Data, conducted by Korea Employment Information Service. First, when graduates of CF major were compared with other majors in the same academic area-natural science and arts-, the rate of employment was higher for CF majors than that of other majors; on the other hand, there is no difference in the wage levels between those with graduates in CF majors and those with other majors. Second, we examined factors affecting CF major graduates' employment and wage level based on graduates' individual factors, university factor, and job preparation factors. Employment status of graduates in CF major was predicted by respondent's gender and university type, and work experience. The wage level of CF major graduates was significantly predicted by individual factors (e.g., gender and age, university factors (e.g., university type, university program, location), and job preparation factors (e.g., certificates, overseas experience of foreign language training, English test scores). The results of this study would provide a guide to direct university educational program in order to assess the current capabilities in the field of clothing and fashion.

  • Purpose: Diabetic foot wound (DFW) is known as a major contributor of nontraumatic lower extremity amputation. We aimed to evaluate overall amputation rates and risk factors for amputation in patients with DFW. Materials and Methods: From January 2014 to December 2017, 141 patients with DFW were enrolled. We determined rates and risk factors of major amputation in DFW and in DFW with peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD). In addition, we investigated rates and predictors for amputation in diabetic foot ulcer (DFU). Results: The overall rate of major amputation was 26.2% in patients with DFW. Among 141 DFWs, 76 patients (53.9%) had PAOD and 29 patients (38.2%) of 76 DFWs with PAOD underwent major amputation. Wound state according to Wagner classification, congestive heart failure, leukocytosis, dementia, and PAOD were the significant risk factors for major amputation. In DFW with PAOD, Wagner classification grades and leukocytosis were the predictors for major amputation. In addition, amputation was performed for 28 patients (38.4%) while major amputation was performed for 5 patients (6.8%) of 73 DFUs. Only the presence of osteomyelitis (OM) showed significant difference for amputation in DFU. Conclusion: This study represented that approximately a quarter of DFWs underwent major amputation. Moreover, over half of DFW patients had PAOD and about 38.2% of them underwent major amputation. Wound state and PAOD was major predictors for major amputation in DFW. Systemic factors, such as CHF, leukocytosis, and dementia were identified as risk factors for major amputation. In terms of DFU, 38.4% underwent amputation and the presence of OM was a determinant for amputation.
