Research of Awareness of the People in Charge of Medical Tour Regarding the Qualifying Examination of International Medical Tour Coordinator (국제의료관광코디네이터 자격시험에 대한 의료관광 담당자들의 인식 연구)

  • This research seeks opinions and development plan in forceful measures of qualifying examinations analyzing awareness of people in charge of medical tour about the qualifying examination system of international medical tour coordinator. The result of research shows the relatively positive awareness towards the qualifying examination and its system of international medical tour coordinator. Regarding the examination subjects, score about the necessity of subject where medical professionalism is considered marked high(4.01). About whether they would take the test or not, there was careful difference in the awareness of examination system(0.019) and operation method(0.004.). For the qualifying examination to be settled and thus to reinforce the professionalism, it is considered essential to have improvement in the problems of treatment towards acquisitors of certificate and awareness of field regarding the certificate, and review of supplementary subject aimed at the reinforcement of medical professionalism in terms of examination subjects.

  • Medical tour can be said to be a new high added-value tour industry of 21st century. The development of varied and distinguished medical tour products by each country will further vitalize the medical tour industry. As the interest in such medical tour increases, it is necessary to analyze the demand and interests of tourists accurately and prepare medical tour products to be provided in order to develop and promote medical tour products. The government considers the medical tour industry as an industry with high expected effects in job creation through promotion of experts in global healthcare industry and national economy development through high added-value creation, and has expanded aid policies in medical tour field with improvement of medical tour immigration system, one-stop service system for medical tourists, and medical tour labor force promotion system. Nevertheless, there are disputes between foreign patients and medical tour inviting businesses, along with medical accident disputes between foreign patients and medical staff and disputes with those working in the tourism industry. This article reviews the types of disputes occurring around the inviting businesses related to medical tours and tried to review the resolutions. Through this, it was found that medical tour inviting businesses have the responsibility to connect the mediated benefits and risks and also the responsibility to process the tasks. Thus, in case dispute occurs due to passive actions from establishing agency agreement to active mediation results, it is difficult to escape the liabilities. Also, in a medical tour agency contract, the inviting business must be aware that it bears the responsibility to explain and advise the details on benefits and risks to foreign patients. The "Guide to arbitration system for resolution of medical disputes with foreign patients" by Korea Health Industry Development Institute Act presents a method to resolve disputes according to the [laws on medical accident damage relief and medical dispute arbitration] in case a dispute due to medical accidents occurs to foreign patients when the foreign patients prepare diagnosis agreement, Whether such method is sufficient to protect foreign patients, however, is thought to require discussions from more diverse perspectives. In order to vitalize medical tourism, the development of diverse products is also important, but the countermeasures against related disputes should also be prepared. Such is expected to contribute to a greater advancement based on trust of foreign medical tourists alongside excellent medical technologies.

Factors on the Satisfaction of Korean Medical Tour Convergence Services of Chinese College Students (중국 대학생의 한국 의료관광 융합서비스에 대한 만족 요인)

  • This study was to find the factors influencing satisfaction of Korean medical tour services of Chinese college students. Structured questionnaire was developed to collect data. The data were collected from the 175 students between May 1 and May 15 in 2015 in an international college in China. The expectations and the evaluations on the Korean medical tour services were compare by t-test. To find the factors influencing satisfaction on Korean medical tour services, diverse linear regression models were estimated. According to the best fit regression model, technologies, quality of medical tour services, and health care cost significantly and positively influenced satisfaction on the Korean medical tour services. The results of the study suggested that we need to prepare marketing strategies to improve understandings on Korean medical tour services for the Chinese college students. Improvement of technology, improvement of quality of health service, and setting of reasonable price are important to attract more Chinese patients to Korea.

A Study on the Development Direction of Medical Tourism and Wellness Tourism Using Big Data

  • Since COVID-19, many foreign tourists have visited Korea for medical tourism. When statistical data were checked from 2022, after COVID-19, the number of foreign patients visiting Korea for two years was 24.8 million, an increase of 70.1% from 2020. It was confirmed that it has achieved a 50% level compared to 2019 (Statistics Office, 2023). Therefore, to create a development plan by linking medical tourism and wellness tourism, the purpose of this study is to find the link between medical tourism and wellness tourism as big data and present a development plan. In this research method, medical tourism, and wellness tourism for two years from 2022 to 2023 from the post-COVID period as big data are set as central keywords to compare text data to find common points. When analyzing wellness tourism and medical tourism, it was confirmed that most wellness tourism had a greater frequency than medical tourism. This confirmed that wellness tourism occupies a larger pie than medical tourism. As a result, when checking the word frequency, it was confirmed that wellness tourism and medical tourism share a lot as complex tourism products, and when checking 2-gram, to attract many medical tourists, it is necessary to combine medical tourism clusters and wellness tourism according to each other's characteristics among local governments.

  • Current medical tourism is focused on the services of large hospitals and it is hard to find ways to attract the users. Users collect information for medical tourism through various paths in order to receive the medical consultations and customized tour services. To expand medical tourism to small and medium sized hospitals, it is necessary to have the customized medical consultations, tours and interpreter services, which are the key elements of medical tourism. This study suggests ways to provide the services based on information on medical consultations, tours and interpreter services that users had experienced directly, and also based on the platform for the essential items integrated from users, hospitals and guides' viewpoints. With information on hospitals that provide medical consultations and guides who are able to provide professional services in translation, interpretation and customized tour, users may accumulate and share the information about hospitals and customized tours verified by other users from the integrated platform. To match the contents provided by hospitals and guides with information experienced by users into a system, this study suggests the construction plan for the service model that can match the experience information between users and hospitals, between users and guides and between hospitals and guides systematically by operating the data in the universal container.

  • The volume of transfer passengers now faces a crisis because the number of Chinese and Japanese passengers, the majority of transfer through Korea, is decreasing. This paper is analyzing the their air travel behaviors as well as characteristics of their transfer behaviors at airport. According to the research, it is suggested that transfer passengers perceive the importance of duty-free stores but their satisfaction of using duty-free stores during their transfer at Icheon airport was proven to be low. Considering the characteristics of transfer service quality at Incheon airport, waiting time of transfer is important but not satisfactory for them. Moreover, information of free transfer tour to city downtown and paid-in transfer tour for medical tourism is not known very well among North East Asian passengers. Thus, it is necessary to do detailed research of North East Asian transfer passengers, who have transferred through Incheon airport more than twice a year, to find out their exact needs of transfer tour in Korea.

  • Medical tourism is a newly-prevailing industry accompanied by the change of lifestyle to a health-seeking life in the 21st century, which not only attracts foreigners using high-end medical technologies and equipments but also linking recuperation and leisure and cultural activities to the tour. many chinese tourists enter seeking both medical and tourism purposes. However, since the system for medical tourism is not well supported and there is no medical insurance for Chinese people, it is necessary to link safe hospitals and guides for these Chinese people and to develop systems that will provide proper information to Chinese people. This paper will introduce and propose a medical tour service system which effectively links hospitals, chinese tourists and brokers.

  • The XI World Congress on fertility and sterility was held during 26th June-2nd July 1983, in Dublin, Ireland. The general view and impression of the congress are as follows. Scientific Programme 1. Main sessions were consisted of a keynote speaker 30 minutes with 4 supporting speakers for 20 minutes each, followed by discussion between the panelist and audience. 2. Related communication sessions were consisted of a series of 10 minutes papers and 5 minutes discussion. 3. Workshop sessions had a free wheeling time-table of audience/expert interaction, subjects concerned day to day practicalities of fertility and sterility. 4. Special symposium sessions had contributed from a number of invited experts in a particular field under discussion. 5. National society symposium sessions were organised and ran by fertility societies affiliated to IFFS. 6. Meet-the-authnr poster sessions, Film and Video sessions, Medical and industrial exhibitions are also introduced here. Business Programme 1. The meeting of executive and scientific commitees IFFS were held on June 26th, July 1st, and general assembly on June 28th, and July 1st. 2. Accreditation : IFFS Dublin 83, is recognised for 32 cognates formal learning by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Social Programme 1. Dublin city orientation tour, welcome reception, Opening and closing ceremonies, evening of traditional Irish entertainment, Irish night at Powercourt Town-house Center, the banquet, State reception-(hosted by Minister of Health and Social secretary at Dublin Castle, and by the Lord Mayor of Dublin at National Concert Hall)-are introduced briefly in this paper. 2. The congress tour;, such as Georgian Dublin and shopping tour, Garden of Ireland tour, Boyne Valley tour and Curragh of Kildare tour were prepared during congress. 3. A Research of Trend on Japanese Medical Tourism in Oriental Hospital of Daejeon University (대전대학교 한방병원에 내원한 일본인 관광객의 의료관광 현황)

  • Objectives : This study is to evaluate the current situation of Japanese tourists for medical tour of Daejeon University hospital and to draw up a plan for better policies. Methods : 59 Japanese tourists visiting oriental medicines hospital of Daejeon University from January 2012 to September 2012, were analysed in the statistics. And 8 of them answer a questionnaire about reasons for selection of Daejeon University hospital, satisfaction for thread embedding therapy and side effects of thread embedding therapy. Results : A total of 59 foreigners visited oriental medicines hospital of Daejeon University for medical service, consisting of 54 females(92 %), the thirties to fifties 71 % by age. The 87.5 % of patients answered that the reason for choosing this hospital was the subsidization of the medical expenses, and 50 % for appropriate payment, 37.5 % for safety, 12.5 % for recommendation of the people who had good experience at this hospital. The 71% of patients selected thread-embedding therapy for treating wrinkles. The degree of satisfaction was evaluated as quite satisfaction of 87.5 %, full satisfaction of 12.5 % showing that a whole number of the patients treated with thread-embedding therapy showed relative satisfaction. This evaluation is, however, a short term survey which should lead to a further term study. For the evaluation of side effects of thread-embedding therapy, 75 % of patients answered as pain occurred during the therapy, 62.5 % as edema, 50 % as hypodermal bleeding. Conclusion : First of all, there should be more constructive promotion and support for medical tour of oriental medicines, ultimately leading to promoting better clusters of oriental medicines. Secondly, support in terms of a medical law should be established for medical disputes, and the best follow-up service should be considered.
