The present study aims to investigate how general education EFL instructors who teach in a higher education institution in Korea perceive mixed-ability classes and the teaching strategies that they utilized to teach learners who have varying English proficiency levels and may have different instructional needs. Twenty instructors at a higher education institution in Korea who teach general education EFL courses participated in a questionnaire and three of the twenty instructors participated in follow-up interviews. The findings from the questionnaire and interviews showed that instructors' experiences teaching mixed-ability classes were positive. They offered clear guidelines for participation to help motivate learners and found that higher level students helped lower level students through group work. The instructors also felt that ESP could be a possibility in mixed-ability classes to meet the learners educational needs.
A mixed adsorbent prepared by pyrolysing a mixture of carbon and flyash in 1:1 ratio was tested for its deceleration ability for three different classes of dyes, namely Astrazone Blue FRR(C.I. Basic Blue 69), Teflon Blue ANL(C.I. Acid Slue 125) and Verofix Red(Reactive Red 3GL). Equilibrium investigations were carried out at the optimum conditions obtained in the previous studies. The equilibrium data fitted reasonably well to both the Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption models. However the Langmuir model was more appropriate to describe the adsorption behavior of the dyes to the hybrid absorbent system compared with the Freundlich model. The mixed adsorbent cm be an low-cost alternative to activated carbons.
The aim of the present study was to compare child care center directors and teachers' recognition of criteria for class placements, specifically for children who were born in January or February, children's ability, and for mixed-age classes. The subjects were 398 center directors and 383 teachers in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Jeolla-do, Gangwon-do, Choongcheong-do and Gyeongsang-do. Data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 and the t-test and Chi-square test were used. The results were as follows: (1) Most child care center directors and teachers believed that children born in January or February should share a classroom with classmates of the same age. (2) Most child care center directors and teachers believed that regardless of a child's ability, it was desirable for the child to be in a class with classmates of the same age. (3) Child care center directors thought that the current criteria for teacher-child ratios within a mixed-age classroom were acceptable but should be lowered if the child care center was not experiencing financial problems. Meanwhile, most of the teachers thought that lower teacher-child ratios within a mixed-age classroom was desirable.
A mixed adsorbent prepared by pyrolysing a mixture of carbon and flyash in 1:1 ratio was tested for its deceleration ability for three different classes of dyes namely, Astrazone Blue FRR(Basic Blue 69), Teflon flue ANL(Acid Blue 125) and Verofix Red(Reactive Red 3GL). Kinetic analyses were carried out at the optimum conditions obtained by the author in the previous studies. The data was fitted with three kinetic model equations. The results showed that the dye uptake mechanism followed the second-order rate expression.
This study has established a fashion illustration education plan using the contour drawing that fosters observational ability and enables creative drawing. This study developed two illustration curriculum proposals consisting of 15 weeks, combining literature and case studies. The researchers organized a step-by-step teaching plan that utilizes contour drawing according to the three stages of fashion illustration classes: foundation courses, general courses, and intensive courses. When the contour drawing is used at the beginning stage of the foundation courses of fashion illustration, it can be used as a technique to reduce the fear of students about practical skills, induce interest in illustration, and cultivate observation ability about objects. In general process, it is combined with various tools and coloring materials to strengthen expression power, and it is possible to produce detailed expressions and illustrations about human body and clothing. In intensive courses, it is expanded to the production of creative works with new aesthetics through digital techniques and mixed materials. As such, the contour drawing is expanded in various ways according to the learning contents and goals of each step, and is flexibly adjusted according to the learning content. Contour drawing has the effect of acquiring observation and expression ability, and it is analyzed as a technique that enables the production of creative illustration of students.
The purpose of this study was to identify the convergence factors influencing learning satisfaction of nursing students in the COVID-19 pandemic after applying non-face-to-face mixed classes consisted of both real-time and non-real time distance educations. The participants were 109 nursing students who attended in a university and completed the self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 program. The results showed that the learning flow was 3.41, self-regulated learning ability was 3.75, and learning satisfaction was 3.98. Learning satisfaction showed a positive correlation with learning flow (r=.42, p<.001) and self-regulated learning ability (r=.75, p<.001). In addition, the factors influencing the learning satisfaction of the subjects of this study were self-regulated learning ability (𝛽=.662) followed by 60.6% (F=25.63, p<.001). Therefore, to enhance learning satisfaction of nursing students, it is necessary to increase their self-regulated learning abilities and to develop and apply training program considering the needs of the educational environment change in the post-COVID-19 era.

The purpose of this study is to develop an elementary mathematics education program for social justice. In the two years of research including literature review and development of a teaching model, forty 6th grade elementary students at two schools in Seoul participated as participants for verification of the effectiveness of the program. Parents' SES in each group is in the high and average levels, respectively. The students participated in 12 mathematical classes for social justice, and the effects of mathematics education for social justice were tested by using mixed method. As a result of the study, students' perceptions of mathematics and tendency toward mathematics were changed positively. The results of this study showed that students' perceptions on mathematics and tendency toward mathematics were influenced by individual ability, inclination, and condition rather than parents' socio-economic environments. It is necessary to develop high qualified and diverse mathematical materials for social justice in order to cultivate creative convergence ability that flexibly copes with future society. It is also necessary for teachers to look at mathematics education in a broader and deeper perspective such as seeing mathematics with humanistic imagination.

The objective of this study is to establish outcome validity for three instruments that assess whether subjects met recommendations for daily servings of fruits and vegetables for“Stage of Change”research. A convenience sample of 294 college students was recruited from introductory nutrition classes at Michigan State University in the United States. To measure servings of fruits and vegetables, separately, three types of methods (self-rated intake, 24-hour recall and food frequency) were used in comparison to the servings from a three-day food record, the criterion used. The outcome validity was assessed based on whether or not at least two servings of fruits and three servings of vegetables were reported. Validity was assessed by sensitivity, to measure the ability to detect low intakes, and by specificity, to measure ability to detect adequate intakes. Cohen's kappa was used as well to examine the agreement between the three methods and a three-day food record. The results showed, for fruits, the 24-hour recall had the best agreement (recall 0.54, self-rated : 0.31, food frequency : 0.29) with a three-day food record for servings consumed by people in pre-action or post-action stages. Sensitivity for fruit was also best using a recall (0.81). For vegetables, however, all three methods had low agreement (food frequency : 0.27, recall : 0.21, self-rated : 0.17) with the results of the three-day food record. Self-rated intakes for vegetables had the best sensitivity (0.66) and the food frequency had the best specificity (0.73). Therefore, researcher can use the 24-hour recall method to identify people who consume inadequate servings of fruit. To detect adequate vegetable intake, the food frequency was best of the three methods. Accuracy may be improved by probing for vegetables in mixed dishes and on sandwiches. We've run leveled intense and supplementary study groups connected with JAVA regular classes for more effective learning of computer programming. We performed the test for evaluating learning understanding degrees between before and after study to analyze learning effect for three leveled study groups and a non study group, and we also analyzed the differences of learning understanding degrees among 4 learner groups by computer programming areas. As a result, we can reach the result what programming areas are effective to be operated by intense and supplementary study groups. Those areas are the area to improve the ability of programming applying concepts through in-depth understanding of concepts, and the area of programming through mixed knowledges related each other. The study group for low-leveled learners has most improved of four groups. Low-leveled group was behind the other study groups on programming application ability, but the group was more excellent than non study group in most programming areas.
This study is mixed design to measure the effects of case-based learning and the Cornell notes-taking system in human anatomy course, the basic course in nursing, on self-directed learning ability, critical thinking dispositon, and teamwork of nursing students. Among those who completed anatomy course, 34 underachieving students were targeted and surveyed before and after classes, and interviewed on case-based learning and Cornell notes-taking system. For quantitative analysis, SPSS/WIN 21.0 was used for frequency analysis, paired t-test, and Pearson's correlation coefficients. For qualitative research, content analysis was performed. The results showed significant increases in self-directed learning ability(t=-9.69, p<.001), critical thinking dispositon(t=-7.75, p<.001), and teamwork (t=-12.43, p<.001) in underachieving nursing students. In addition, there was a significant correlation between self-directed learning ability, critical thinking dispositon, and teamwork. In conclusion, case-based and Cornell notes learning methods were effective in helping underachieving students enrolled in human anatomy course. There is a need for continuous research on the use of case-based and Cornell notes in other courses.
