  • 스위치드 릴럭턴스 전동기 (Switched Reluctance Motor, SRM)는 전류의 크기와 회전자와 고정자의 상대적 위치에 따라 인덕턴스가 매우 비선형적으로 변하는 특성이 있고, 토크는 이 인덕턴스의 기울기에 비례하여 발생하기 때문에 비선형 토크 특성을 가지며 토크 맥동이 크고 소음이 심한 단점도 있다. 이러한 문제점들을 고려하고 경제성과 회로의 간단화를 위하여 기존의 비대칭 컨버터 (Asymmetric Bridge Converter)에서 효율과 성능을 개선할 수 있는 구동용 토폴로지(Topology)에 대한 연구들이 많이 진행되었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 SRM 구동용 토폴로지로 적용하여 사용되고 있는 각 컨버터들을 비교, 분석함으로써 성능을 확인하고자 한다. 비교, 분석에 적용된 구동용 컨버터는 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 비대칭 브리지 컨버터 (Asymmetric Bridge Converter)와 C-dump 컨버터 형태의 구조를 가진 Conventional C-dump, Modified C-dump, Energy efficient C-dump, 공진형 C-dump 컨버터, 그리고 일반 전동기의 범용으로 사용되고 있는 6-Switch 인버터이다.

  • Recently, SRMs are used in automobiles for power assistant steering, accessory motion control and traction drives. Especially in the motion control and traction drives, safety and efficiency are of paramount importance. The paper describes the essential elements faced in designing and constructing driving circuits for a switched reluctance motor for automobiles. An important factor in the selection of a motor and a drive for industrial application is the cost. The switched reluctance motor(SRM) is a simple, low-cost, and robust motor suitable for variable-speed as well as servo-type applications. With relatively simple converter and control requirements, the SRM is gaining an increasing attention in the drive industry. This paper presents a modified C-dump converter for Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) machine application in the cooling system of automobiles. The experiments are performed to verify the capability of applicate control method on 6/4 salient type SRM.

  • 현재 차량에 사용되는 전동기는 대부분 직류전동기로, 12V또는 24V 밧데리 전원으로 구동되는 엔진 냉각 팬, 오일 펌프 및 공조시스템 등에 적용되고 있다 그러나 직류전동기의 경우 효율, 수명, 내구성에 취약한 단점을 지니고 있다. 따라서, 자동차용 전동기로써 구조가 간단하고 내구성이 우수한 SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor)의 관심이 매우 높아지고 있다. SRM을 차량용으로 사용하기 위해서는 고성능 제어와 12V 전윈 구동에 모두 우수한 성능을 갖는 구동 컨버터의 선정이 매우 중요하다. 여러 종류의 구동 컨버터는 각각의 장단점을 갖고 있어, 차량에 적용시 여러 가지 제약 조건이 따른다. 일반적으로 많이 사용되고 있는 비대칭 컨버터는 제어성능이 우수하지만, 각 상당 스위치가 가장 많이 필요하고, 상당 2개의 스위치에 의한 전압강하가 발생하는 단점을 지니고 있어, 차량의 12V 전원에는 부적절하다 구조가 간단하고, 스위치 수가 적은 컨버터로 차량의 환경과 여러 요구조건을 충족시킬 수 있는 컨버터로써 Modified C-dump 컨버터와 Energy efficient C-dump 컨버터를 선정하였다. 제안된 두 컨버터를 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 비교 검토하여, 차량용 SRM 구동 컨버터로써 Energy efficient C-dump 컨버터의 우수한 제어성능을 증명하였다.

  • This paper compared a Modified C-dump converter and energy efficient converter topologies, derived from the conventional C-dump converter, for switched reluctance motor (SRM) drives. The proposed topologies overcome the limitations of the conventional C-dump converter, and could reduce the whole cost of the SRM drive. Also, the above converters have simple control requirements; and allow the motor phase current to freewheel during chopping mode. Specially, the voltage ratings of the dump capacitor and some of the switching devices in the proposed an Energy efficient C-dump converter is reduced to the supply voltage ($V_{dc}$) level compared to twice the supply voltage ($2V_{dc}$) in the conventional C-dump converter. Simulation and experimental results of the proposed converters are presented and verified.

  • This paper deals with the analysis of switched reluctance motor drives for different drive circuit topologies used in automobile. So we attempt to improve the weaknesses associated with the asymmetric bridge converter in the limited internal environment of automotive application. Two kinds of c-dump converters are tested in terms of dump capacitor voltage, speed response according to the variation of advance angle and efficiency for the radiator cooling-fan drive of an automobile. They enable more economical and efficient converter topology for automobile industries. This paper describes the performance characteristics of 12V-250W-3000rpm SRM drives for automotive application. Computer simulation and experiment results are then presented to verify the performance of the two kinds of c-dump converters.

  • The Attractive features of the proposed converter has lower number of power devices and also has full regenerative capability, freewheeling in chopping or PWM mode, simple control strategy and faster demagnetization during commutation. The dump component energy requirements are much lower in this converter topology than another C-dump converters. As a result, The proposed converter has improved efficiency in the overall system than Modified C-dump converter, this thesis was approved its superiority by simulation and experimental results.

These converters will be referred to as energy efficient C-dump converter and modified C-dump converter Energy efficient C-dump converter topology eliminate all the disadvantages of the C-dump converter without sacrificing its attractive features, and also provide some additional advantages that have lower number of power devices, full regenerative capability, free-wheeling in chopping or PWM mode, simple control strategy, and faster demagnetization during commutation. The experiments are peformed to verify the capability of proposed control method on 6/4 salient type SRM.

  • Small electric motors in an automobile perform various tasks such as engine cooling, pumping, and in heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system. At present, most of dc motors are supplied by 12V or 24V batteries. However, DC motors surfer from lack of efficiency, low life cycles and unreliability. Therefore, there is a growing interest in substituting DC motors for advanced AC motors including switched reluctance motors. Although there are several other forms SRM converters, they are either unsatisfactory to the control performance or unsuitable for the 12V-battery powered 3-phase SRM drives. Taking into account the requirement for effective operation and simplicity structure of converter in the limited internal environment of automobiles, the author inclines toward selecting the modified C-dump converter as well as the energy efficient C-dump converter. This is so that more economical and efficient converter topology in automobile industries can be utilized. This paper describes the foundation for the design and development of a 12V-250W-3000rpm SRM drives for automobiles. Furthermore, complete circuit, computer simulation and experiment results are presented to verify the performance of the C-dump converters.

  • Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) Drive 회로의 경제성과 효율성을 감안하여 본 논문에서는 범용적으로 많이 쓰이는 비대칭 컨버터와 변형된 C-dump 컨버터를 비교 분석하였으며 산업용 저전압 SRM에 각각 적용하였을 때의 특성들을 기술하였다. 고속도 영역과 저속도 영역에서의 Advance angle과 Firing angle 제어를 하였을 때의 토크특성과 전류특성을 비교하였다. 또한, PWM 을 이용하여 토크리플을 감안한 적절한 on-off 각을 제시하여 그에 따른 저속도 영역에서의 특성들을 기술하였다.

  • In this paper, a modified multi-level convert for low cost high speed switched reluctance (SR) drive is proposed The proposed multi-level converter has reduced number of power switches and diodes than that of a conventional asymmetric converter for SRM, and lower voltage rating of the dump capacitor comparing with energy efficient c-dump converter. It can supply five operating modes that is boosted, DC-link, zero, negative bias and negative boosted voltage. The proposed multi-level converter has fast excitation and demagnetization modes of phase current, so dynamic response can be achieved. The proposed multi-level converter is verified by computer simulation and experimental results.
