In the design of sensorless control system for induction motor, high-precision speed estimation is one of the most difficult problems. To solve this problem, the common method is model reference adaptive method (MRAS). MRAS requires accurate motor parameters to estimate rotor speed precisely. However, when motor is running, the variety of temperature and magnetic saturation will lead to the change of motor parameters such as stator resistance and rotor resistance, which will lower the accuracy of the speed estimation. To improve the accuracy and rapidity of speed estimation, this paper analyses the mutual MRAS speed identification based on rotor flux linkage, and proposes an improved mutual MRAS speed identification based on back-EMF. The improved method is verified by Simulink simulation and motor experimental platform based on DSP2812. The results of simulation and experiment indicate that the method proposed by this paper can significantly improve the accuracy of speed identification, and speed up the response of identification.
In this paper, a path generation algorithm that uses sensor scannings is described. A scanning algorithm for recognizing the ambient environment of the Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) that uses the information from the sensor platform is proposed. An algorithm for computing the real path and obstacle length is developed by using a scanning method that controls rotating of the sensors on the platform. The AGV can recognize the given path by adopting this algorithm. As the AGV with two-wheel drive constitute a nonholonomic system, a linearized kinematic model is applied to the AGV motor control. An optimal controller is designed for tracking the reference path which is generated by recognizing the path pattern. Based on experimental results, the proposed algorithm that uses scanning with a sensor platform employing only a small number of sensors and a low cost controller for the AGV is shown to be adequate for path generation.

Linear motor stage is a useful device in precision engineering field because of its simple power transmission mechanism and accurate positioning. Even though linear motor stage shows fine positioning accuracy along travel axis, geometric dependent errors which relay on machining and assembling accuracy should be addressed to increase total positioning performances. In this paper, we suggests a cost effective yaw error compensation servo-system which is mounted on platform of the stage and nullify travel position dependent yaw error. This paper also provides a method of designing a sliding mode control which is robust to existing friction disturbance and model uncertainties. The reachability condition of slinding mode control for the yaw error compensating servo-system has been established. From some experimental results by using an experimental set-up, the sliding mode control showed its effective in disturbance rejection and its performance was superior to conventional linear controls.

This paper presents a micro-positioning platform based on the unique parallel mechanism recently developed by the authors. The platform has a meso-scale rectangular shape whose size is $20{\times}23m$. The stroke is 5 mm for both the x- and y-axis and 100 degrees for the ${\alpha}$-axis(the rotational axis along the x-axis). The platform is actuated by the three sets of two-stage linear actuators: a linear motor for rough positioning and a piezo actuator for fine positioning. The platform is already assembled. Experimental results of the positioning measurements and control performance are presented.

This paper proposes a weighting factor optimization method in predictive control algorithm for torque ripple reduction in an induction motor fed by an indirect matrix converter (IMC). In this paper, the torque ripple behavior is analyzed to validate the proposed weighting factor optimization method in the predictive control platform and shows the effectiveness of the system. Therefore, an optimization method is adopted here to calculate the optimum weighting factor corresponds to minimum torque ripple and is compared with the results of conventional weighting factor based predictive control algorithm. The predictive control algorithm selects the optimum switching state that minimizes a cost function based on optimized weighting factor to actuate the indirect matrix converter. The conventional and introduced weighting factor optimization method in predictive control algorithm are validated through simulations and experimental validation in DS1104 R&D controller platform and show the potential control, tracking of variables with their respective references and consequently reduces the torque ripple.

In modern society, UAM (Urban Air Mobility) transportation system is being developed as an alternative to urban traffic congestion and environmental problems, and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) is a combination of vertical take-off and landing function and electric power. It is attracting attention as an innovative next-generation transportation method as an eco-friendly alternative that reduces noise and air pollution by providing efficient mobility within the city. Since eVTOL development requires designing and implementing airframes suitable for various mission purposes, the power system needs to be developed as a platform concept before airframe development. In this study, we empirically proposed a test bench concept equipped with a stable power supply and an efficient control system, essential in developing a power platform with a combined function in the form of a fuselage and module type specialized for various mission purposes. The proposed drivetrain platform test bench consists of a system verifying the stable take-off and landing software and a power platform adjusting the motor's thrust. It will serve as a verification system that can be developed.
In order to meet the thermal performance analysis accuracy requirements of high density permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), a method of multi physical domain coupling thermal analysis based on control circuit, electromagnetic and thermal is presented. The circuit, electromagnetic, fluid, temperature and other physical domain are integrated and the temperature rise calculation method that considers the harmonic loss on the frequency conversion control as well as the loss non-uniformly distributed and directly mapped to the temperature field is closer to the actual situation. The key is to obtain the motor parameters, the realization of the vector control circuit and the accurate calculation and mapping of the loss. Taking a 48 slots 8 poles high density PMSM as an example, the temperature rise distribution of the key components is simulated, and the experimental platform is built. The temperature of the key components of the prototype machine is tested, which is in agreement with the simulation results. The validity and accuracy of the multi physical domain coupling thermal analysis method are verified.
In this paper, a four-phase 8/6-pole 4-kW SR motor drive model is presented. Based on experimental data, the model allows an accurate simulation of a drive in dynamic operation. Simulations are performed and a laboratory type set-up is built based on a TI TMS320F2812 platform to experimentally verify the theoretical results obtained for a SR motor. To reduce acoustic noise and to correct the power factor of this drive, a two-stage power converter is proposed that uses a current source rectifier (CSR) as the input stage for the asymmetrical converter of the studied SRM. Employing the space-vector modulation (SVM) method in matrix converters, the CSR switching allows the dc link's capacitors to be eliminated and the power factor of the SRM drive to be improved. As the electrical motive force (emf) is directly proportional to the rotor speed, the input voltage to the machine can be programmed to be a function of the speed with the modulation index of the CSR, leading to a reduction in the acoustic noise of the SRM drive. Simulation of the whole SRM drive system is performed using MATLAB-Simulink. The results fully comply with the required conditions such as power factor correction with an improvement in the THD.
This paper describes a real-time human and robot tracking method in Intelligent Space with multi-camera networks. The proposed method detects candidates for humans and robots by using the histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) feature in an image. To classify humans and robots from the candidates in real time, we apply cascaded structure to constructing a strong classifier which consists of many weak classifiers as follows: a linear support vector machine (SVM) and a radial-basis function (RBF) SVM. By using the multiple view geometry, the method estimates the 3D position of humans and robots from their 2D coordinates on image coordinate system, and tracks their positions by using stochastic approach. To test the performance of the method, humans and robots are asked to move according to given rectangular and circular paths. Experimental results show that the proposed method is able to reduce the localization error and be good for a practical application of human-centered services in the Intelligent Space.

After more than 100 years of development, rotating electric machines are a mature industrial product. Nevertheless, improvements are still possible for specific applications, and it is likely that the major evolution will be promoted by new materials and unconventional structures. Till now, plastic materials are an infrequent choice for the electric machines structural parts, but pioneering applications, such as aeronautical components, let some technological scouting: a low-weight/high-efficiency plastic axial flux motor for a solar flying platform is presented as an example of combined new-material/new-geometry development. The basic design aspects and the prototyping choices are presented and discussed together with the first experimental results.
