  • PURPOSES : This study is to analyze expected effect of a accident decrease when motorcycle safety inspection is introduced. METHODS : Based on the literature review of effect of 4-wheel vehicle inspection, probability of occurring accidents among defective motorcycles are calculated by using the number of estimated defective motorcycles and accidents resulting from defects of motorcycles. Then, the number of decreased accidents which is resulting from eliminating defects of motorcycles by safety inspection is estimated by using probability of occurring accidents among defective motorcycles. RESULTS : If the ratio of eliminating defects of motorcycles is 95% after motorcycle safety inspection, the effects of accident decrease of motorcycle safety inspection are analyzed from 2005 to 2008. As a result, 46,292 defective motorcycles are repaired and 1,376 accidents are prevented when the probability of occurring accidents among defective motorcycles is 2.97%. CONCLUSIONS : This study suggests the expected effect of motorcycle safety inspection is that the inspection can prevent 1,376 motorcycle accidents. However, the number of preventing motorcycle accidents are small, compared with the total number of motorcycle accidents because there are limitations to investigate the causes of defective motorcycle accidents. A more precise analysis of the expected effect of motorcycle inspection is possible when a systematic investigation of the causes of the accidents is implemented.

  • Most of the motorcycle engines have used carburetors in the fuel system, because of its simple structure and reliability but the fuel economy and the emissions of those engines are bad when we compared with automobile engines .To meet with the tighten emission regulations and the higher requirements for fuel economy, the application of the carburetor on the motorcycle engines would be limited. Therefore, it is important to develope a ECU control system for motorcycle engines. Since the fuel injection system is expensive, it is necessary to decrease the cost of ECU system for motorcycle engines, but the accuracy of the ECU control system should be increased as high as possible. In this paper, we studied about the AFS characteristics of motorcycle engine controled by indirect method.

NFC system, the basis of IoT, is in the spotlight which can be an alternative solution of a anti-theft system for motorcycle as they basically have practicality and security issues. Anti-theft system for motorcycle using the NFC smart devices based on RFID has been proposed. because Progress of Smart Device If someone get the Key for motorcycle theft, he can be easily stolen motorcycle. We thought about the concept of NFC security devices as a wireless key and automatic solenoid valve for setting the lock and unlock module. In this study, we designed motorcycle smart key system with general-purpose NFC system and the automatic solenoid valve for setting the lock and unlock module. First, we designed control unit and NFC card reader for motorcycle smart key system. Then we propose an AES encryption algorithm and prove that the motorcycle key system is controllable by showing the result of implementing and testing, after installing.

  • In this paper, we propose that a model based design for an electric motor cycle system using Automotive Simulation Models. Before prototyping a realistic electric motorcycle, a reliable simulation program is required to test the capacities of the power sources and optimize the parameters of an electric motorcycle. In the past, The research of electric motorcycle was conducted at macro rather than micro level. However, this research suggests the detailed analysis method of specific key components. This paper can get a good error ratio, 2.3%, as a consequence of the interpretation of experiment and simulation. With the analysis of specific electric motorcycle, it is able to analyze design factor and improve accuracy of electric motorcycle interpretation. Also, this research suggests the effective way to get fail safety so that it can solve the fail which can be encountered in electric motorcycle.

  • To determine the performance characteristics of motorcycle engine using biogas for practical use, the intake system of a 110 cc motorcycle engine is properly modified to operate with biogas as a fuel. Biogas is a potentially renewable fuel for replacing gasoline in future, but it has high percentage of $CO_2$ that could lead to slow the burning rate of biogas-air mixture and cause instability in combustion. Thus, the performance characteristics of biogas-fueled motorcycle engines could be different from those of gasoline motorcycle engines. In this paper, the important parameters of performance characteristics (such as: power output, thermal efficiency, fuel consumption, exhaust emission,${\cdots}$) of biogas-fueled motorcycle engine are studied and estimated with change of engine speed and load. The obtained results when operating with biogas are used to compare with that of gasoline fuel under the same operating conditions. Engine speed in the experimental is changed from 1500 rpm (idle-mode) up to 3500 rpm by a step of 500 rpm. Engine load is changed from zero to maximum load with the help of an exciting voltage device from generator-type dynamometer. The experimental results show that the tested engine operated with richer biogas-air mixture than that of gasoline-air mixture under the same test conditions. Biogas-fueled engine gives a higher fuel consumption and lower thermal efficiency under the same power output. Brake thermal efficiency of biogas engine is found to be about 3% lower than gasoline-fueled motorcycle engine for whole range of speed. Exhaust emission of biogas-fueled motorcycle engine (such as: CO, HC) is found to be lower than the limitation level of the emission standards of Vietnam for motorcycle engines (CO <4.5% HC <1200 ppm).

  • The thermal deformation volume of motorcycle break disk was studied using a disk-on-pad type friction tester. Thermal deformation volume of motorcycle break disk have an effect on the frictional factor such as applied load, sliding speed, sliding distance and number of ventilated disk hole. However, it is difficult to know the mutual relation of these factors on thermal deformation volume. In this study, the thermal deformation volume with ANSYS workbench are obtained by application of temperature from mechanical test. From this study, the result was shown that the motorcycle break disk with ventilated hole 3 have the most excellent thermal deformation characteristics. The regression equation with frictional factors which have a trust rate of 95% for prediction of thermal deformation volume of motorcycle break disk was composed.
