Design and Implementation of Multimedia Data Retrieval System using Image Caption Information (영상 캡션 정보를 이용한 멀티미디어 데이터 검색 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • According to the increase of audio and video data utilization, the presentation of multimedia data contents and the work of retrieving, storing and manipulating a multimedia data have been the focus of recent work. The display for multimedia data should retrieve and access the contents easily that users want to present. This study is about the design and implementation of a system to retrieve multimedia data based on the contents of documentation or the caption information of a multimedia data for retrieving documentation including multimedia data. It intends to develop an filtering step to retrieve all of keyword within the caption information of multimedia data and text of a documentation. Also, the system is designed to retrieve a large amount of data quickly using an inverted file structure available for B+ tree.

Multimedia Contents Development of Web-based Basic Nursing Physical Science -Centered on Structure and Function of Heart- (웹 기반의 기초간호자연과학 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 개발 -심장의 구조와 기능을 중심으로-)

  • This study was conducted to develop web-based distance learning program of basic nursing physical science which was composed of a multimedia contents such as documents, voices and pictures. This was to advance curriculum of basic nursing physical science based on a proper nursing characteristics related to other major nursing subjects and induce a new and creative method to gain a knowledge. Based on a general learning design model, distance learning program was developed centered on a structure and function of heart physical science in 1999. The stages of development were like this. Firstly, at the analytic stage, specific units and contents for developing multimedia contents were decided and presentation methods for each item were designed and then the evaluation items were developed. Secondly, at the design stage, the most effective design of multimedia construction was selected and interfaces, basic frames, and presentation elements were chosen. Thirdly, at the developmental stage, internet files were designed using Namo web editor 4.0 and this files were modified with Adobe Photoshop.

Multimedia Contents Streaming Service using the Section Information Retrieval on P2P Network (구간정보를 이용한 P2P 상에서 멀티미디어 스트리밍)

  • We describe a method for streaming specific section using the section information among peers on P2P network. As peers tend to extract only the part of contents in which they are interested, an indexed file is created based on the section information of multimedia contents and registered in the search server. If a peer requests the streaming of specific parts of the contents to other corresponding peer using the section information that the server returns, the peer streams only separated section of the multimedia contents according to the information. For this process, we implement a function that a peer's PC can play a role as a server, and the peer streams the separated content based on the section information that the server supplies.

  • The Part 7 of MPEG-21, called Digital Item Adaptation, aims at an interoperable transparent access of multimedia contents in heterogeneous environments. This standard facilitates the development of Universal Multimedia Access (UMA) systems, which adapt the rich multimedia contents to provide user the best possible presentation under the constraints of various terminals and network connections. Content adaptation has two major aspects: one is modality conversion that converts content from one modality (e.g. video) to different modalities (e.g. image) the other is content scaling that changes the titrates (or qualities) of the contents without converting their modalities. At the output of adaptation process, the highly-subjective qualities of adapted contents nay vary widely with respect to point-of-views of different providers and different users. So, user should have some control on the adaptation process. In this paper, we describe two description tools of user characteristics, the presentation priority preference and the modality conversion preference, which allow user to have flexible choices on the qualities and modalities of output contents. We also present a systematic approach to integrate these user preferences into the adaptation process. These description tools are developed in the process of MPEG-21 standardization.

  • Ubiquitous makes it possible to expand a short-distant wireless communications infra and provide various services. Especially, it is very important to develop multimedia contents service technology through ZigBee and WPAN technology. But because the data transmission rate of IEEE 802.15.4 Standard ZigBee is low, there are many barriers for multimedia contents services. In this paper, to improve ZigBee that has the limitation of transmission rate in IEEE 802.15.4 Standard, an upgraded model to 1Mbps through MAC Layer remodeling is designed. And Zigbee-based broadcasting multimedia contents services system is designed and implementation to provide the service in Ubiquitous environment.

  • This paper describes a model and system development for support an object-based scalability to provide adaptive MPEG-4 contents. One of the problem encountered by a multimedia service in heterogeneous network environment is the variation in the client's playback capability. Therefore, we provide technique which give an adaptability to MPEG-4 encoders so that make it possible to service adaptive MPEG-4 contents to a certain end terminal.

  • Train to Busan(2016) and Seoul Station(2016) contain trans-media properties in terms of the expansion of 'possible worlds' from the original story, and show the cultural and economic potential of the domestic trans-media contents with industrial systems added to the artist's competence of Dir. Yeon Shang-ho, an animator and film director. But they also have limits of the lack of continuity in time and characters between each media, various derived contents and suitable marketing strategy. For the development of Korean trans-media contents, it is necessary to extend the range of contents, find changes in production time and style, and improve the distribution environment to encourage a user to integrate contents from each platforms.

Development of Tablet PC-Based Multimedia Educational Contents for Patients and Their Family Undergoing Thoracic Surgery (흉부수술 환자와 가족을 위한 태블릿 PC기반 멀티미디어 교육자료 개발)

  • Purpose: This study aims to develop Tablet PC-based multimedia educational contents on the procedures from surgery preparation to recovery for hospitalized patients who are going to undergo thoracic surgery and their families. Methods: The educational contents were created based on literature review and a survey of needs in patients and their families who were admitted to a hospital in Seoul from Dec. 2013 to May 2014. The contents were developed in conjunction with a film production company. The educational materials including texts, images, sounds, and videos were developed appling the ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) model. Results: Two multimedia educational contents were developed for the patients with coronary artery bypass graft or lung surgery. Each content consisted of six subdivisions of self-learning for 20 minutes. The developed educational contents were completed after testing content validity by 30 medical experts. Conclusion: This study recommends that the Tablet PC-based educational contents for thoracic and cardiovascular patients and their families be used in general wards and intensive care units to relieve their anxiety before surgery and reduce postoperative complications.

A Framework for Electroencephalogram Process at Real-Time using Brainwave

  • Neuro feedback training using ElectroEncephalo Grams (EEGs) is commonly utilized in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Recently, BCI (Brain-computer Interface) contents have developed, not for the purpose of treatment, but for concentration improvement or brain relaxation training. However, as each user has different wave forms, it is hard to develop contents controlled by such different wave. Therefore, an EEG process that allows the ability to transform the variety of wave forms into one standard signal and use it without taking a user's characteristic of EEG into account, is required. In this paper, a framework that can reduce users' characteristics by normalizing and converting measured EEGs is proposed for contents. This framework also contains the process that controls different brainwave measuring devices. In experiment a handling process applying the proposed framework to the developed BCI contents is introduced.

A Study on Efficient Transmission of MultiMedia Contents based on CDN Infrastructure (CDN 인프라를 기반으로 한 멀티미디어 컨텐츠의 효율적인 전송 방안에 관한 연구)

  • The CDN is proposed as a solution of network bottleneck problem resulting from the rapid growth of Internet user and multimedia contents on the Internet. This paper suggests MDC and path diversity between CDN Edge server and end-user, and multicast transmission among CDN servers based on CDN infrastructure. It may be a solution for reliable and fast transmission of rich multimedia contents. These research will support to solve the unreliable transmission problem of multicasting and to create the new business models in the field of web contents.
