  • Concentric hyperspheres in the n-dimensional Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^n$ are the level hypersurfaces of a radial function f : $\mathbb{R}^n{\rightarrow}\mathbb{R}$. The magnitude $||{\nabla}f||$ of the gradient of such a radial function f : $\mathbb{R}^n{\rightarrow}\mathbb{R}$ is a function of the function f. We are interested in the converse problem. As a result, we show that if the magnitude of the gradient of a function f : $\mathbb{R}^n{\rightarrow}\mathbb{R}$ with isolated critical points is a function of f itself, then f is either a radial function or a function of a linear function. That is, the level hypersurfaces are either concentric hyperspheres or parallel hyperplanes. As a corollary, we see that if the magnitude of a conservative vector field with isolated singularities on $\mathbb{R}^n$ is a function of its scalar potential, then either it is a central vector field or it has constant direction.

  • Motivated mainly by certain interesting extensions of the ${\tau}$-hypergeometric function defined by Virchenko et al. [11] and some ${\tau}$-Appell's function introduced by Al-Shammery and Kalla [1], we introduce here the ${\tau}$-Lauricella functions $F_A^{(n),{\tau}_1,{\cdots},{\tau}_n}$, $F_B^{(n),{\tau}_1,{\cdots},{\tau}_n}$ and $F_D^{(n),{\tau}_1,{\cdots},{\tau}_n}$ and the confluent forms ${\Phi}_2^{(n),{\tau}_1,{\cdots},{\tau}_n}$ and ${\Phi}_D^{(n),{\tau}_1,{\cdots},{\tau}_n}$ of n variables. We then systematically investigate their various integral representations of each of these ${\tau}$-Lauricella functions including their generating functions. Various (known or new) special cases and consequences of the results presented here are also considered.

  • In this paper we study the structure of closed weakly dense ideals in Privalov spaces $N^p$ (1 < p < $\infty$) of holomorphic functions on the disk $\mathbb{D}$ : |z| < 1. The space $N^p$ with the topology given by Stoll's metric [21] becomes an F-algebra. N. Mochizuki [16] proved that a closed ideal in $N^p$ is a principal ideal generated by an inner function. Consequently, a closed subspace E of $N^p$ is invariant under multiplication by z if and only if it has the form $IN^p$ for some inner function I. We prove that if $\cal{M}$ is a closed ideal in $N^p$ that is dense in the weak topology of $N^p$, then $\cal{M}$ is generated by a singular inner function. On the other hand, if $S_{\mu}$ is a singular inner function whose associated singular measure $\mu$ has the modulus of continuity $O(t^{(p-1)/p})$, then we prove that the ideal $S_{\mu}N^p$ is weakly dense in $N^p$. Consequently, for such singular inner function $S_{\mu}$, the quotient space $N^p/S_{\mu}N^p$ is an F-space with trivial dual, and hence $N^p$ does not have the separation property.

  • We study a subclass of p-ary functions in n variables, denoted by ${\mathcal{A}}_n$, which is a collection of p-ary functions in n variables satisfying a certain condition on the exponents of its monomial terms. Firstly, we completely classify all p-ary (n - 1)-plateaued functions in n variables by proving that every (n - 1)-plateaued function should be contained in ${\mathcal{A}}_n$. Secondly, we prove that if f is a p-ary r-plateaued function contained in ${\mathcal{A}}_n$ with deg f > $1+{\frac{n-r}{4}}(p-1)$, then the highest degree term of f is only a single term. Furthermore, we prove that there is no p-ary r-plateaued function in ${\mathcal{A}}_n$ with maximum degree $(p-1){\frac{n-4}{2}}+1$. As application, we partially classify all (n - 2)-plateaued functions in ${\mathcal{A}}_n$ when p = 3, 5, and 7, and p-ary bent functions in ${\mathcal{A}}_2$ are completely classified for the cases p = 3 and 5.

  • Let X be a hemicompact space with ($K_{n}$) as an admissible exhaustion, and for each n $\in$ N, $A_{n}$ a Banach function algebra on $K_{n}$ with respect to $\parallel.\parallel_n$ such that $A_{n+1}\midK_{n}$$\subsetA_n$ and${\parallel}f{\mid}K_n{\parallel}_n{\leq}{\parallel}f{\parallel}_{n+1}$ for all f$\in$$A_{n+1}$, We consider the subalgebra A = { f $\in$ C(X) : $\forall_n\;{\epsilon}\;\mathbb{N}$ of C(X) as a frechet function algebra and give a result related to its spectrum when each $A_{n}$ is natural. We also show that if X is moreover noncompact, then any closed subalgebra of A cannot be topologized as a regular Frechet Q-algebra. As an application, the Lipschitzalgebra of infinitely differentiable functions is considered.d.

  • Let ${\alpha}$ > 0 be a real number and $(s_{\alpha}(n))_{n{\geq}1}$ be the lexicographically greatest Sturmian word of slope ${\alpha}$. We investigate Dirichlet series of the form ${\sum}^{\infty}_{n=1}s_{\alpha}(n)n^{-s}$. To do this, a generalization of Euler's totient function is required. For a real ${\alpha}$ > 0 and a positive integer n, an arithmetic function ${\varphi}{\alpha}(n)$ is defined to be the number of positive integers m for which gcd(m, n) = 1 and 0 < m/n < ${\alpha}$. Under a condition Re(s) > 1, this paper establishes an identity ${\sum}^{\infty}_{n=1}s_{\alpha}(n)n^{-S}=1+{\sum}^{\infty}_{n=1}{\varphi}_{\alpha}(n)({\zeta}(s)-{\zeta}(s,1+n^{-1}))n^{-s}$.

  • During the last three decades, the problem of evaluation of the determinants of the Laplacians on Riemann manifolds has received considerable attention by many authors. The functional determinant for the n-dimensional sphere $S^n$ with the standard metric has been computed in several ways. Here we aim at computing the determinants of the Laplacians on $S^n$ (n = 8, 9) by mainly using ceratin known closed-form evaluations of series involving Zeta function.

  • With the introduction of a new parameter $n{\geq}1$, Kim generalized an upper bound for the exponential function that implies the inequality between the arithmetic and geometric means. By a change of variable, this generalization is equivalent to exp $(\frac{n(x-1)}{n+x-1})\;\leq\;\frac{n-1+x^n}{n}$ for real ${n}\;{\geq}\;1$ and x > 0. In this paper, we show that this inequality is true for real x > 1 - n provided that n is an even integer.

  • Let {X$\_$n/, n$\geq$1] be a stationary sequence of negatively associated random variables with distribution function F(x)=P(X$_1$$\leq$x). The empirical distribution function F$\_$n/(x) based on X$_1$, X$_2$,....., X$\_$n/ is proposed as an estimator for F$\_$n/(x). Strong consistency and asymptotic normality of F$\_$n/(x) are studied. We also apply these ideas to estimation of the survival function.
