A Relation Analysis between NDSL User Queries and Technical Terms (NDSL 검색 질의어와 기술용어간의 관계에 대한 분석적 연구)

  • In this paper, we analyzed the relationship between user query keywords that is used to search NDSL and technical terms extracted from NDSL journals. For the analysis, we extracted about 833,000 query keywords from NDSL search logs during nearly 17 months and approximately 41,000,000 technical terms from NDSL, INSPEC, FSTA journals. And we used only the English noun phrase in extracted those and then we did an experiment on analysis of equality, relationship analysis and frequency analysis.

  • 국내 과학기술 연구자의 요구를 만족시키는 고품질 콘텐츠를 제공하기 위한 기초작업으로 국가과학기술정보센터(NDSL) 콘텐츠의 가치평가 기준을 수립할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 NDSL의 대표적인 콘텐츠인 논문의 가치에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 도출하고 각 요인별 측정 방안을 모색하였다. 제시된 콘텐츠 가치평가 기준에 의거하여 NDSL 콘텐츠 표본을 평가하고, 콘텐츠 가치평가 방안 기준이 적절한지를 분석하였다.

  • The purpose of this study is to measure customer satisfaction index of NDSL. we propose new model of the user satisfaction index for NDSL and verify the new model through the analysis of structural equation model, LISREL. We also build new measurement method for customer satisfaction index by different dimension and measure diverse customer satisfaction index according to different calculation method.

A Study on Online Science & Technology Information Service Quality Measurement Using Expectation and Disconfirmation Analysis (기대불일치 분석기법을 적용한 온라인 과학기술정보 서비스 품질 측정)

  • The purpose of this study is to reveal their satisfaction procedures from users of information service expectation-disconfirmation theory. To achieve this goal, we use the NDSLQual model to measure the quality of NDSL service. The results were as follows: First, while the expectation has a negative effect on the expectation-disconfirmation, it has a positive effect on the perceived performance. And perceived performance has a positive effect on the expectation-disconfirmation. Second, the expectation-disconfirmation has a positive effect on the overall satisfaction and loyalty. However the explanatory adequacy of the regression model is very low. Third, perceived performance has a positive effect on the overall satisfaction and loyalty. In order to increase the overall satisfaction and loyalty for NDSL, it is necessary to seek ways to improve the perceived performance and lower the expectation-disconfirmation.

  • Nowadays, due to an explosive increase in information, information filtering is very important to provide proper information for users. Users hardly obtain scholarly information from a huge amount of information in NDSL of KISTI, except for simple search. In this paper, we propose the service, PIN to solve this problem. Pin provides the word cloud including analyzed users' and others' interesting, co-occurence, and searched keywords, rather than the existing word cloud simply consisting of all keywords and so offers user-customized papers, reports, patents, and trends. In addition, PIN gives the paper classification in NDSL according to keyword matching based classification with the overlapping classification enabled-academic classification system for better search and access to solve this problem. In this paper, Keywords are extracted according to the classification from papers published in Korean journals in 2016 to design classification model and we verify this model.

  • 2009년 4월부터 장애인 차별 금지 및 권리구제 등에 관한 법률의 시행으로 공공기관의 웹 사이트에 대한 접근성 개선이 이슈화 되고 있다. 한국과학기술정보연구원에서 제공하고 있는 과학기술정보통합서비스(이하 NDSL) 서비스 역시 접근성 개선이 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문에서 NDSL의 웹 접근성 개선을 위하여 접근성 준수 여부 평가 및 검색 서비스를 중요 서비스로 제공하는 NDSL의 특성을 고려한 접근성 개선 방안을 제시하여 다양한 계층과 환경의 사용자들의 사용편의를 제공하고자 한다.

A Study on the Content Utilization of KISTI Science and Technology Information Service (KISTI 과학기술정보서비스의 콘텐츠 활용 분석)

  • The Science and Technology Information Service provided by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) is a service designed to allow users to easily and conveniently search and view content that is built similar to the general information service. NDSL is KISTI's core science, technology and information service, providing about 138 million content and having about 93 million page views in a year of 2019. In this paper, various insights were derived through the analysis of how science and technology information such as academic papers, reports and patents provided by NDSL is searched and utilized through web services (https://www.ndsl.kr) and search query words. In addition to general statistics such as the status of content construction, utilization status and utilization methods by type of content, monthly/weekly/time-of-day content usage, content view rate per one-time search by content type, the comparison of the use status of academic papers by year, the relationship between the utilization of domestic academic papers and the KCI index we analyzed the usability of each content type, such as academic papers and patents. We analyzed query words such as the language form of query words, the number of words of query words, and the relationship between query words and timeliness by content type. Based on the results of these analyses, we would like to propose ways to improve the service. We suggest that NDSL improvements include ways to dynamically reflect the results of content utilization behavior in the search results rankings, to extend query and to establish profile information through non-login user identification for targeted services.

A Study on the Quality Evaluation of Scholarly Web Databases Focused on NDSL, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science (학술 웹 데이터베이스의 품질 비교 평가 : NDSL, P ubMed, Scopus와 Web of Science를 중심으로)

  • This study is focused on the quality of the Web databases which has been produced in science. For the quality evaluation of NDSL, PubMed, Scopus, and WoS, 10 evaluating criteria are developed on the basis of literature review. The evaluation results show that NDSL and PubMed are superior in the currentness and cost. Scopus and WoS are superior in the information of citing and the analysis tool. It is needed for purchasing, user training, and library service based on the above evaluation results.

Analysis and Service Quality Evaluation on NDSL Website (NDSL 웹사이트 분석 및 서비스 품질평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the effectiveness and quality of web service by analyzing the web service problems and suggesting the solutions through the expert service quality evaluation from the point of view of users and website quality evaluation by measurement tools for a whole NDSL website. In case of website analysis, this study analyzed the website completeness of NDSL site and looked into the problem that users can judge by intuition during their use of the site, and evaluated the searchability and usability for web-based service quality evaluation by centering on the service quality of database quality items. After the results of this analysis, it appeared that there was not a big problem on the use. But after searching, several problems were found on loading rates, website completeness, user sensitiveness, the protection of private information, metadata completeness, website accessability, etc. And as a result of the evaluation of website service quality, it does not show the all satisfactory results in the function of search methods and search result printing, mark list and the items related to full-text in the part of searchability and usability. However, comparing with the results of other information organizations, it shows the similar level of quality.

  • This thesis improved the DB building process for IEEE conference proceedings that is being serviced in National Digital Science Library(NDSL) of KISTI and implemented the resulting system. Raw data format provided by the each publisher is different and change from time to time, so NDSL have to analyze and fix the programming. And it causes the service delays. This paper modularize the program to minimize dependence on the program due to the changes of raw data format.
