PLD 장치를 이용한 $NbS_2$ 박막의 제작 (Preparation of $NbS_2$ thin film using PLD method)

  • 기능성 소자 응용을 위한 다양한 박막을 성장시키기 위하여 PLD(Pulsed Laser Deposition) 장치를 제작 개발하였다. 이 PLD 장치를 이용하여 $NbS_2$ 박막을 $Al_2O_3$(012) 기판과 Si(111) 기판 위에 성장시켰다. 결정성 박막의 성장조건을 조사하기 위하여 기판온도를 실온${\sim}600^{\circ}C$, 타겟의 성분비(S/Nb)를 $2.0{\sim}5.25$로 변화시켰다. XRD 패턴으로부터 기판온도가 $600^{\circ}C$이고 타겟의 성분비가 4.0일 때 c-축 배향을 나타내는 양호한 결정성의 $NbS_2$박막이 성장되었다. Si(111) 기판 위보다 $Al_2O_3$(012) 기판 위에서 보다 양질의 $NbS_2$ 박막이 성장되었음을 알 수 있었다.

Superconducting critical temperature in FeN-based superconductor/ferromagnet bilayers

  • We present an experimental investigation of the superconducting transition temperatures, $T_c$, of superconductor/ferromagnet bilayers with varying the thickness of ferromagnetic layer. FeN was used for the ferromagnetic (F) layer, and NbN and Nb were used for the superconducting (S) layer. The results were obtained using three different-thickness series of the S layer of the S/F bilayers: NbN/FeN with NbN thickness, $d_{NbN}{\approx}9.3nm$ and $d_{NbN}{\approx}10nm$, and Nb/FeN with Nb thickness $d_{Nb}{\approx}15nm$. $T_c$ drops sharply with increasing thickness of the ferromagnetic layer, $d_{FeN}$, before maximal suppression of superconductivity at $d_{FeN}{\approx}6.3nm$ for $d_{NbN}{\approx}10nm$ and at $d_{FeN}{\approx}2.5nm$ for $d_{Nb}{\approx}15nm$, respectively. After shallow minimum of $T_c$, a weak $T_c$ oscillation was observed in NbN/FeN bilayers, but it was hardly observable in Nb/FeN bilayers.

내황화성 비정질 Nb-Ni-Al-Si 코팅층의 개발 (Development of Sulfidation Resistant Amorphous Nb-Ni-Al-Si Coating Layer)

  • The sulfidation behavior of a sputter-deposited amorphous coating of 69.0%Nb-16.9Ni-11.9%Al-2.2%Si (at.%) has been investigated as a funtion of temperature.(973-1173K) in pure sulfur pressure of 0.01atm. The sulfidation kinetics of the casting obyed the parabolic rate low over the whole temperature ranges studied. The stlfidation rate increased with the temperature, as expected. The sulfide scale, the composition of which was $Al_2S_3,\;NbS_2,\;Ni_{3-x}S_2\;and\;FeCrS_4$, formed on the amorphous coating was primarily bilayered. Both the outer fastgrowing non-protective 4Al_2S_3$scale and the inner slowly-growing protective $NbS_2$,/TEX> scale and the inner slowly-growing protective $NbS_2$ scale had some Fe and Cr dissolution, which evidently came from the base substrate alloy of stainless steel type 304. Belows the coating, Kirkendall void formation was noticed. Nevertheless, a dramatic improvement of sulfidation resistance was achieved by sputter-depositing Nb-2 Ni-Al-Si layer on the stainless steel 304.

Germination and Seedling Growth Response of Sprouts and Leafy Vegetables after Applying Oxygen Nanobubble Water

  • Background and objective: The nanobubbles remain stable in water, and it increased dissolved oxygen (DO) in the water that promotes the seed germination and the plant growth. We evaluated the seed germination and growth of sprouts (radish, wheat, and barley) and leafy vegetables (red mustard and pak choi) when irrigated with various DO of nanobubble water (NB). Methods: The oxygen NB was generated by surface friction and treated in 4 levels: NB 0% (control, DO 9.21 mg·L-1), NB 20% (DO 15.40 mg·L-1), NB 33% (DO 20.93 mg·L-1), and NB 100% (DO 39.29 mg·L-1). Results: The root length of radish and wheat increased more in NB 33% than the control plot. The fresh weight increased in NB 33% compared to the control plot in radish and wheat, and both fresh and dry weight increased more in NB 20%, NB 33%, and NB 100% than the control plot of barley. The leaf length and width of red mustard decreased more in NB 33% and NB 100% than the control plot and NB 20%, which indicated the leaf compactness. The fresh and dry weight of shoot and root increased more in NB 100% than the control plot in red mustard. In pak choi, the shoot fresh weight increased more in NB 100% than the control plot. In leafy vegetables, the germination rate of red mustard in NB 100% was higher than the control plot, however, it was not significantly different between oxygen NB plots in sprout vegetables. Conclusion: The results showed that the root growth and biomass increased after applying NB 33% in sprout vegetables. The leaf growth properties as the number of leaves and leaf size were not significantly different or decreased in NB treatments compared to control plots, but NB 100% (DO 39.29 mg·L-1) effectively increased the root growth and plant biomass in leafy vegetables.

Evolution of Metastable $L1_2-Al_3(Nb_xZr_{1-x})$ Phases in Rapidly Quenched Al-Nb-Zr Alloys

  • 3원계 Al-Nb-Zr의 용응 합금을 스프렛 ?봬?(splat-quenching) 방법을 이용하여 급속냉각응고 한 후, 응고된 시편을 698K에서 200시간까지 열처리하여 상전이를 연구하였다. 급속응고 및 열처리된 시편의 미세구조는 X-선 회절 및 투과전자 현미경으로 분석하였다. Al-1.95Nb-0.65Zr, Al-1.3Nb-1.3Zr, 및 Al-0.65Nb-1.95Zr (at%) 3원 합금계를 연구하였다. 각 합금의 조성은 Vegard's 법칙을 적용하여 Al(${\alpha}$)의 기지조직과 $L1_2-Al_3(Nb,Zr)$의 석출상들이 정합을 이루도록 선택되었다. 급속응고된 후 각 합금은 과고용된 Al(${\alpha}$)의 고용상을 형성하였다. Al-1.3Nb-1.3Zr, 및 Al-0.65Nb-1.95Zr의 급속응고된 상태의 시편을 698K에서 열처리하여 알루미늄 기지와 정합의 계면을 갖는 $L1_2-Al_3(Nb_{0.5}Zr_{0.5})$$L1_2-Al_3(Nb_{0.25}Zr_{0.75})$의 상을 각각 석출하였다. 반면 Al-1.95Nb-0.65Zr 합금은 평형상인 $D0_{22}-Al_3(Nb_{0.75}Zr_{0.25})$ 상을 석출하였다. 준안정상의 정합 $Al_3(Nb,Zr)$ 미세 분산상 석출은 입자의 조대화를 억제하고 재료의 고온 강도를 증가될 것으로 사료된다.

  • In this study, the $Nb_3Sn$ wire was tried to fabricate by internal tin process to investigate the relationship between the processing parameters in a cold working and the microstructure. The critical current densities of $Nb_3Sn$ wires were evaluated in magnetic fields at 4.2 K. $Nb_3Sn$ compound layer was found to be formed between Nb core and Cu-Sn. The Cu part in the wire transformed to Cu-Sn by the reaction with Sn and the Sn in the Cu-Sn part reacted with Nb.

Electronic Structures of ANb2PS10 (A=Ag, Na) and AuNb4P2S20

  • New quaternary compounds $ANb_2PS_{10}$ (A = Na, Ag) and $AuNb_4P_2S_{20}$ were synthesized and characterized. The structures of three compounds consist of one-dimensional infinite chains built by [$Nb_2S_{12}$] and [$PS_4$] units. Cation atoms are occupied within the van der Waals gap of sulfur atoms between infinite chains to make -S…$M^+$…S- contacts. There is only one Au atom site and so crystallographically a unit cell contains four equivalent Au atoms in $AuNb_4P_2S_{20}$. This is only the half of the numbers of Na or Ag atoms in $NaNb_2PS_{10}$ or $AgNb_2PS_{10}$. The ratio between $Nb_2PS_{10}$ matrix vs the cation is, therefore, 1 : 1 for Ag and Na, but it is 2 : 1 for Au. Mixed valency in Au or Nb was expected to balance the charge in the latter compound. The electronic structures calculated based on the extended Huckel tight-binding method show that $ANb_2PS_{10}$ (A = Ag, Na) are semiconducting, while $AuNb_4P_2S_{20}$ is metallic, which is not consistent with the experimental results of these three compounds that all exhibit semiconducting property. The result of calculation suggests that $AuNb_4P_2S_{20}$ might be a magnetic insulator. Magnetic measurement experiment exactly proved that the compound is a Slater antiferromagnetic material with the Neels' temperature of 45 K. It is recognized, therefore, that electronic structure analysis is very useful to understand the properties of compounds.

Preparation of CdS-pillared $H_4Nb_6O_7$ and Photochemical Reduction of Nitrate under Visible Light Irradiation

  • $H_4Nb_6/O_{17}$/CdS nanocomposites which intercalated CdS particles, less than 0.8nm thickness, in the interlayer of $H_4Nb_6/O_{17}$ were prepared by the successive ion exchange reactions of $H_4Nb_6/O_{17}$ with $Cd^{2+}$ and $C_3H_7NH_3_+$, followed by the reaction with $H_2S$ gas. $H_4Nb_6/O_{17}$/CdS photocatalytically reduced $NO_3$ ̄ to $NO_2$ ̄ and $NH_3$in the presence of sacrificial hole acceptor such as methanol under visible light irradiation (wavelength>400nm), although unsupported CdS showed no noticeable photocatalytic activity for $NO_3$ ̄ reduction. The catalytic activity of $H_4Nb_6/O_{17}$/CdS greatly enhanced with co-doping of Pt particles in the interlayer.

NbTi 초전도 선의 접합 조건 변화에 따른 임계전류 특성 향상 연구 (Improvement of superconducting joint between NbTi filamentary wires)

  • NbTi/Cu superconducting wires were jointed inserting the NbTi filaments into Cu/NbTi sleeve and pressing it. When the NbTi filaments were inserted into Cu/NbTi sleeve additional NbTi filaments were inserted together to increase the numbers of filaments in the hole of sleeve. The thickness of sleeves and dimples were changed to get optimal factor for high Ic of joint Critical current of the joint with additional NbTi Filaments and 17mm thickness of dimple was 450 A at 4.2K, 0.5T.

  • Ti-25Al-xNb (x=0, 3, 7, 11, 13 at. %) alloys and 18 vol. % TiB/(Ti-25Al-11Nb) metal matrix composite were fabricated by spark plasma sintering process at 900-120$0^{\circ}C$. Microstructural characteristics of the sintered bodies were identified by SEM, EDX analysis, X-ray diffraction, and differential scanning calorimeterric method. $Ti_3Al$ alloy was consisted of equiaxed $\alpha_2$ phase. $Ti_3Al-Nb$ alloys and the matix of TiB/(Ti-25Al-11Nb) metal matrix composite had the morphology that O phase was precipitated at the grain boundary of $\alpha_2$phase. Volume fraction of O phase and hardness were depended on the concentration of Nb in $Ti_3Al-Nb$ alloy, Rule of mixing could be applied to hardness and Young's modulus of 18 vol. % TiB/(Ti-25Al-11Nb) metal matrix composite.
