Performance Management of Communication Networks for Computer Intergrated Manufacturing (컴퓨터 통합 생산을 위한 통신망의 성능 관리)

  • Performance management of computer networks is intended to improve a given network performance in order for more efficient information exchange between subsystems of an integrated large-scale system. Importance of perfomance management is growing as many functions of the large- scale system depend on the quality of communication services provided by the network. The role of performance management is to manipulate the adjustable protocol parameters on line so that the network can adapt itself to a dynamic environment. This can be divided into two subtasks : performance evaluation to find how changes in protocol parameters affect the network performance and decision making to determine the magnitude and direction of parameter adjustment. This paper is the first part of the two papers focusing on conceptual design, development, and evaluation of performance management for token bus networks. This paper specifically deals with the task of performance evaluation which utilizes the principle of perturbation analysis of discrete event dynamic systems. The developed algorithm can estimate the network performance under a perturbed protocol parameter setting from observations of the network operations under a nominal parameter setting.

  • ATM is the transport method for the broadband integrated services digital networks(B-ISDN). It may replace existing LAN, MAN and WAN technologies such as CSMA/CD, FDDI, Frame relay, X.25, etc. But it is more complicate than existing network technologies. One of the main difficulties in ATM network is performance management. Specifically, the problems are evaluating the performance and tuning the values of the performance parameters, The goal of this paper is to introduce a system architecture designed for ATM network performance management, The major ingredients of the system are generic performance parameters In be measured from ATM network, performance evaluation models and decision criteria concerning the network performance. In this paper, general requirements for performance management application in ATM network are discussed.

  • In order to guarantee the user-requested quality-of-service(QoS) and keep the network utilization at maximum it is required to manage the network performance continuously after the network installation. The performance management function should provide the useful information for the network expansion and the capacity reallocation in the future. Currently the TINA provides the specification of the management function of configuration management connection management and fault management ; but the management function of performance management and security management are not well-defined yet. In this paper we propose a TINA-based performance management architecture for the efficient performance management of the heterogeneous networks or NEs with TMN and SNMP management functions. And we examine the proposed architecture into the ATM network (with SNMP and TMN) monitoring. The proposed architecture is based on the distributed processing architecture and the concept the TMN perfo mance management. The proposed architecture have been designed and implemented in multiprocess and multithread structure.

This paper specifically deals with the task of decision making which utilizes the principles of stochastic optimization and learning automata. The developed algorithm can adjuxt four timer settings of a token bus protocol based on the result of performance evaluation. The overall performance management has been evaluated for its efficacy on a network testbed.

The performance management alms to maintain a uniform level of network performance at all stations under changing network traffic. The performance management algorithm monitors the performance of individual network stations and commands the stations to change their timer values in order to have comparable performance at all stations.   • The network-wide performance management is crucial for maintaining the quality of network services, which requires the collection and monitoring the performance data at individual network nodes. Most of the public networks, however, are composed of diverse, heterogeneous network nodes that are managed by various types of proprietary management systems with a conventional operator console and embedded management functions, which makes it difficult to implement the integrated performance management systems. Even though the developments of TMN (Telecommunication Management Network) based management systems are being attempted, the little work has been done in performance management area. In this paper, we propose the performance monitoring architecture for ATM switches using the 0₃ object model and describe how to implement the TMN-based performance prosy agent for ATM switching systems. The proposed performance proxy agent provides the TMN standard performance management interfaces by translating the proprietary performance management functions, which eventually leads to network-wide integrated performance management.

  • Most networks for automation are tuned to an expected traffic condition ar their design stage. During their actual operations, however, the networks experience considerable changes in traffic from time to time. These traffic changes caused by common events like machine failure and production schedule change may adversely affect th network performance and, in turn , the performance of the connected devices. Impacts of Corporate Network Building and Strategic Learning for Environmental Management on Business Performance

  • This study discovered the effects of strategic learning and network building on a company's environmental management performance. According to the results, the environmental awareness of the company and competition threats within the industry did not significantly affect the establishment of environmental strategy, whereas the consumer's sensitivity to the environment and the environmental regulation of the government did. The environmental awareness of the company and the consumer's sensitivity to the environment were found to greatly impact a company's network building. which is closely related with the utilization of multimedia system and technology. In addition, it was found that the establishment of corporate environmental strategy had a significant effect on network building and strategic learning, but network building did not significantly affect strategic learning, indicating a difference. Finally, corporate strategic learning affected environmental management performance, suggesting an importance in accumulating strategic learning capabilities to increase environmental management performance.

  • Purpose: This study analyzed the relationship between corporate capacity and management performance in the Korean distribution industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. Research design, data and methodology: The data for this study used the 2021 KOTRA GCL Test Data, and multiple regression analysis was performed using SPSS 26. As corporate competency, human capital and related capital of intellectual capital theory were utilized, and the global network level of social network theory was also utilized. As an additional analysis, corporate characteristics factors were used. Results: First, the level of global mindset of human capital acted as a positive factor in management performance, and the level of professional manpower did not achieve significant results. Second, related capital acted as a positive factor in corporate performance. Third, from the perspective of social network theory, the global network level of companies acted as a positive factor in management performance. Finally, the relationship between corporate characteristics and management performance was marginally significant. Conclusions: In order to improve the business performance of a company in a market shock such as the COVID-19 pandemic, it is required to strengthen the level of network construction with customers and increase the level of intellectual capital that a company has.

  • In the IT(Information Technology) service, which supply the solutions related to business management and IT, network construction and application trends, the related service business are increasing according to the enlargement of project scope and the diversity of project types as the need of service customers. In this paper, I propose the significant effect factors on the network management of IT service firms. The key findings are from the analysis result about 94 IT service firms as follows. For implementation the high performance of network management in the IT service firms, the strategic elements in the process of network construction are more conceived highly than the basic element in them. Also the perspective of project objectives are considered than the nominal perspectives in the partner selection process. The competency of partner firms', the cooperation process between the partner firms', network relation operation management and network relation structure management are the significant effect factors of network management.
