  • It is expected that the next generation mobile communication system will be a service-driven developed system capable to realize the human-centric mobile convergence services. and it is different from the technology-driven development approach of the second and the third generation mobile communication systems. As a preliminary research work on such service-driven system development approach for the next generation mobile communication system. we developed the scenario based service analysis process (2SAP) framework to derive core service technologies and functionalities. In this paper. we propose the next generation mobile convergence service business model creation methodology based on research results of the 2SAP framework. To achieve this goal, we first establish a service model contains several components such as infrastructures. operations. and provision of services that are indispensible for providing next generation mobile services. Then, the next generation mobile services and its corresponding business models can be created by adding service and value flows to the developed service model after defining necessary components of business model including actors, their relationships, and roles.

  • Mobile users want to be provided with undisrupted network services when they navigate on the Next-Generation (NG) wireless networks. For that, interlocking with a heterogeneous network is important, but there have been few studies on the method for guaranteeing global mobility. Thus, this paper proposes the Proxy-LMA technique, the mobile IP-based global inter-networking system, to enhance global mobility and interoperability within the Next-Generation (NG) network environment. The purpose of the proposed Proxy-LMA system is to expand the boundary of the mobility with regards to the existing mobility management protocol (PMIPv6 and MIPv6) in order to guarantee global mobility and interoperability within the heterogeneous network environment. The results of the performance evaluation showed that the proposed Proxy-LMA system was more efficient than other methods from the standpoint of signaling cost and delay in the heterogeneous network environment.

  • Mobile communication is evolving toward next generation system that is capable to provide ubiquitous human-centric services with giving no restriction on time and location. In particular, context-awareness will be realized using various sensors and devices and related technologies under the ubiquitous Next Generation (NG) mobile communications environment where user's demand and surrounding context are changing dynamically. By such context awareness, context aware service which provides best suitable services for a user by analyzing user's needs and situational information, will be one of the promising NG mobile services. In this article, we propose NG mobile service environment with focusing on generic service traffic flows supported by the NG service platform which gives various means of connecting users and service providers. Then, we propose evolutional phases of context-aware services based on ranges of context information and evolutional trend of telecommunication technologies and networking environment in NG mobile service environment.

  • Recently with smart phones and tablets, next generation mobile communication systems have supported various multimedia contents services. Thus, multimedia communication systems have been gradually increased compared to voice communication systems. Since the growth of multimedia services has increased users' duration on systems and decreased systems' effectiveness on power, a study on effective usage of power needs to be researched. Furthermore, radio shadow areas under heavy urban environments have generated unnecessary power consumption which reduces the usage duration of power on next generation mobile communication systems. This paper has reviewed the communication network architecture on next generation mobile communication systems and the unnecessary power consumption in radio shadow areas. This paper has also proposed the method of the effective power usage and analyzed the effective power usage on next generation mobile communication systems with simulation.

  • Recently, as mobile workloads are becoming more data-intensive, high data bandwidth is required for mobile memory which also consumes non-negligible system energy. A variety of researches and technologies are under development to improve and optimize mobile memory technologies. However, a comprehensive study on the latest mobile memory technologies (LPDDR or Wide I/O) has not been extensively performed yet. To construct high-performance and energy-efficient mobile memory systems, quantitative and detailed analysis of these technologies is crucial. In this paper, we simulate the computer system which adopts mobile DRAM technologies (Wide I/O and LPDDR3). Based on our detailed and comprehensive results, we analyze important factors that affect performance and energy-efficiency of mobile DRAM technologies and show which part can be improved to construct better systems.

  • Many kinds of communication systems will be co-existed in the next generation communication environment. Location management will be one of the most important strategies in the future communication network. Whether the user gets the service in any kind of communication system, it is required to know the location of the user properly and manages this location information efficiently. In this paper, mobile IP and WCDMA systems are considered as next generation communication systems. We improve the performance of communication in heterogeneous networks adjusting the conventional region-based location management strategy in homogeneous network. This strategy can be adjusted dynamically to the communication system on the basis of packet-to-mobility ratio (PMR) in mobile IP system or call-to-mobility ratio (CMR) in WCDMA system, lots of different system parameters, and movement pattern of the user. This can be also based on the performance analysis with considering signaling cost and database access cost.

  • Next generation mobile communication systems have been studied and applied to support various services. In next generation mobile communication systems, the most interested research is the integration of various communication systems and the offer of various services by using high-speed data transmission. The integration of communication systems has been researched by using multi standard modem, while the high-speed data transmission for the offer of various services has been applied by using OFDM. This paper has proposed the method to reduce PAPR by using multi standard modem. with EVM, this paper has also suggested the method to compensate in-band distortion while reducing PAPR. By using the proposed methods, this paper has analyzed and simulated the decrease efficiency of PAPR, the performance of CCDF, and the performance of BER in next generation mobile communication systems. The simulation results improved the performance of next generation mobile communication system can be seen that.

  • A major challenge for next generation mobile communication is capturing the system architecture’s complexity with all its internal and external dependencies. Seamless integration of heterogeneous environments in all system parts is a key requirement. Moreover, future systems have to consider the different evolution cycles of individual system parts. Among those, services are expected to change the fastest. With respect to these considerations, we propose an overall architecture for next generation mobile communication systems. It covers all system parts from wireless transmission to applications including network and middleware platform. Our approach focuses on adaptability in terms of recon- figurability and programmability to support unanticipated system evolution. Therefore, we consider abstraction layers which consist of adaptable cooperating components grouped by open platforms rather than rigid system layers. In addition to that, we introduce cross-layer cooperation allowing an efficient use of the available resources. Specific scenarios illustrate the feasibility of our approach.
