  • The present work focuses on the characterization of material parameters of the Overlay(multilinear hardening) model for analyzing the non-isothermal cyclic deformation. In the previous study, all the parameters were especially based on the Overlay theories, and a simple method was suggested to find out the best material parameters for the isothermal cyclic deformation analysis. Based on the previous research this paper f dther improves the isothermal parameters and suggests how to apply the isothermal parameters to the non-isothermal conditions especially for the description of TMF(Thermo-Mechanical Fatigue) hysteresis behavior. The parameters are determined and calibrated using 400 series stainless steel test data in the reference papers. For the implementation into ABAQUS, a user subroutine is developed by means of ABAQUS/UMAT. The finite element results show good agreement with test for the case of uniaxial non-isothermal cyclic loading, signifying the proposed method can be used in the TMF analysis of the converter-inserted heavy duty muffler system and the stainless steel exhaust-manifold system which are to be done in our future research.

  • This paper studies the deformation theory of a holomorphic surjective map from a normal compact complex space X to a compact $K\"{a}hler$ manifold Y. We will show that when the target has non-negative Kodaira dimension, all deformations of surjective holomorphic maps $X{\rightarrow}Y$ come from automorphisms of an unramified covering of Y and the underlying reduced varieties of associated components of Hol(X, Y) are complex tori. Under the additional assumption that Y is projective algebraic, this was proved in [7]. The proof in [7] uses the algebraicity in an essential way and cannot be generalized directly to the $K\"{a}hler$ setting. A new ingredient here is a careful study of the infinitesimal deformation of orbits of an action of a complex torus. This study, combined with the result for the algebraic case, gives the proof for the $K\"{a}hler$ setting.

  • In this paper, we investigate curvature-adapted and proper complex equifocal submanifolds in a symmetric space of non-compact type. The class of these submanifolds contains principal orbits of Hermann type actions as homogeneous examples and is included by that of curvature-adapted and isoparametric submanifolds with flat section. First we introduce the notion of a focal point of non-Euclidean type on the ideal boundary for a submanifold in a Hadamard manifold and give the equivalent condition for a curvature-adapted and complex equifocal submanifold to be proper complex equifocal in terms of this notion. Next we show that the complex Coxeter group associated with a curvature-adapted and proper complex equifocal submanifold is the same type group as one associated with a principal orbit of a Hermann type action and evaluate from above the number of distinct principal curvatures of the submanifold.

  • Here, certain Ricci flow for Finsler n-manifolds is considered and deformation of Cartan hh-curvature, as well as Ricci tensor and scalar curvature, are derived for spaces of scalar flag curvature. As an application, it is shown that on a family of Finsler manifolds of constant flag curvature, the scalar curvature satisfies the so-called heat-type equation. Hence on a compact Finsler manifold of constant flag curvature of initial non-negative scalar curvature, the scalar curvature remains non-negative by Ricci flow and blows up in a short time.

  • In this paper, we obtain the criteria that the Riemannian manifold B is Einstein or a gradient Ricci soliton from the information of the second derivative of $f$ in the warped product space $R{\times}_fB$ with gradient Ricci solitons. Moreover, we construct new examples of non-Einstein gradient Ricci soliton spaces with an Einstein or non-Einstein gradient Ricci soliton leaf using our main theorems. Finally we also get analogous criteria for the Lorentzian version.

  • This paper describes the parting and Boolean operations for a pseudo-solid model of a plastic part, and their application to injection mold design. Here, a pseudo-solid model means a sheet model that looks like a solid model, but its boundary is not closed. When a solid model created in a different CAD system is imported through a standard data exchange file format, in most cases, a pseudo-solid model may be created due to tolerance or some other problems. However, most existing mold design systems based on solid modeling kernels require a complete part solid model. Therefore, mold designers have to do time-consuming healing operations to convert a pseudo-solid to solid. To eliminate or reduce the healing pre-process for mold design, in this paper, we proposed the parting and Boolean Operations on pseudo-solid part models. This paper also describes their detailed implementation and a case study.

  • In the present study, we investigate generic lightlike submanifolds of indefinite nearly Kaehler manifolds. After proving the existence of generic lightlike submanifolds in an indefinite generalized complex space form, a non-trivial example of this class of submanifolds is discussed. Then, we find a characterization theorem enabling the induced connection on a generic lightlike submanifold to be a metric connection. We also derive some conditions for the integrability of distributions defined on generic lightlike submanifolds. Further, we discuss the non-existence of mixed geodesic generic lightlike submanifolds in a generalized complex space form. Finally, we investigate totally umbilical generic lightlike submanifolds and minimal generic lightlike submanifolds of an indefinite nearly Kaehler manifold.

  • In this paper, we mainly study the problem of the existence of homogeneous geodesics in sub-Finsler manifolds. Firstly, we obtain a characterization of a homogeneous curve to be a geodesic. Then we show that every compact connected homogeneous sub-Finsler manifold and Carnot group admits at least one homogeneous geodesic through each point. Finally, we study a special class of ℓp-type bi-invariant metrics on compact semi-simple Lie groups. We show that every homogeneous curve in such a metric space is a geodesic. Moreover, we prove that the Alexandrov curvature of the metric space is neither non-positive nor non-negative.

  • Face tracking and recognition are difficult problems because the face is a non-rigid object. The main reasons for the failure to track and recognize the faces are the changes of a face pose and environmental illumination. To solve these problems, we propose a nonlinear manifold framework for the face pose and the face illumination normalization processing. Specifically, to track and recognize a face on the video that has various pose variations, we approximate a face pose density to single Gaussian density by PCA(Principle Component Analysis) using images sampled from training video sequences and then construct the GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model) for each person. To solve the illumination problem for the face tracking and recognition, we decompose the face images into the reflectance and the illuminance using the SSR(Single Scale Retinex) model. To obtain the normalized reflectance, the reflectance is rescaled by histogram equalization on the defined range. We newly approximate the illuminance by the trained manifold since the illuminance has almost variations by illumination. By combining these two features into our manifold framework, we derived the efficient face tracking and recognition results on indoor and outdoor video. To improve the video based tracking results, we update the weights of each face pose density at each frame by the tracking result at the previous frame using EM algorithm. Our experimental results show that our method is more efficient than other methods.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyse the basic data of the engine tuning inspection by confirming the working possibility of effective engine tuning and identifying the characteristics of tuned engine that are no problem with the safety operation and environment in a driving gasoline car. The effects of tuned engine on the characteristics of air/fuel ratio and performance at a wide range of engine speeds were experimentally investigated by the actual driving car with a four-cycle, four-cylinder DOHC, turbo-intercooler, water-cooled gasoline engine operating under four types of non-tuning, and tuning 2-1, 2-2 and 2-3. The tuned parts of engine in a driving gasoline car include the intake manifold, intake pipe, air filter, exhaust manifold, exhaust pipe and silencer. In this experiment, the air-fuel ratio and torque of both non-tuned and tuned engines that one person took on board in the car with a five-speed automatic transmission were measured by the chassis dynamometer(Dynojet 224xLC). It was found that the maximum torque of tuned engine in a driving gasoline car was increased by 103.68% on average, while the maximum output was increased by 119.68% on average in comparison to the non-tuned engine.
