  • In this work, extensions to partial least squares (PLS) for wastewater treatment (WWT) process monitoring are discussed. Conventional data gathered by monitoring WWT systems are usually time varying, high dimensional, correlated and nonlinear, PLS has been shown to be an efficient approach in modeling and monitoring high dimensional and correlated data. To represent dynamic and nonlinear features of the data several kinds of dynamic nonlinear PLS (DNLPLS) models have been proposed. However, the complexity and ambiguity of the models make them unsuitable for WWT monitoring, Recently, dynamic fuzzy PLS (DFPLS) was proposed ...

  • In this paper we apply the autoregressive process to the nonlinear quantile regression in order to infer nonlinear quantile regression models for the autocorrelated data. We propose a kernel method for the autoregressive data which estimates the nonlinear quantile regression function by kernel machines. Artificial and real examples are provided to indicate the usefulness of the proposed method for the estimation of quantile regression function in the presence of autocorrelation between data.

  • Reliable monitoring and diagnosis of industrial processes is quite important for in terms of quality and safety. The goal of fault diagnosis is to find process variables responsible for causing specific abnormalities of the process. This work presents a classification-based diagnostic scheme based on nonlinear representation of process data. The use of a nonlinear kernel technique is able to reduce the size of the data considered and provides efficient and reliable representation of the measurement data. As a filtering stage a preprocessing is performed to eliminate unwanted parts of the data with enhanced performance. The case study of an industrial batch process has shown that the performance of the scheme outperformed other methods. In addition, the use of a nonlinear representation technique and filtering improved the diagnosis performance in the case study.

  • Principal Component Analysis (PCA) reduces the dimensionality of the process by creating a new set of variables, Principal components (PCs), which attempt to reflect the true underlying process dimension. However, for highly nonlinear processes, this form of monitoring may not be efficient since the process dimensionality can't be represented by a small number of PCs. Examples include the process of semiconductors, pharmaceuticals and chemicals. Nonlinear correlated process variables can be reduced to a set of nonlinear principal components, through the application of Kernel Principal Component Analysis (KPCA). Support Vector Data Description (SVDD) which has roots in a supervised learning theory is a training algorithm based on structural risk minimization. Its control limit does not depend on the distribution, but adapts to the real data. So, in this paper proposes a non-linear process monitoring technique based on supervised learning methods and KPCA. Through simulated examples, it has been shown that the proposed monitoring chart is more effective than $T^2$ chart for nonlinear processes.

  • This paper introduces the fuzzy scatter partition-based fuzzy inference system to construct the model for nonlinear process to analyze nonlinear characteristics. The fuzzy rules of fuzzy inference systems are generated by partitioning the input space in the scatter form using Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering algorithm. The premise parameters of the rules are determined by membership matrix by means of FCM clustering algorithm. The consequence part of the rules is represented in the form of polynomial functions and the parameters of the consequence part are estimated by least square errors. The proposed model is evaluated with the performance using the data widely used in nonlinear process. Finally, this paper shows that the proposed model has the good result for high-dimension nonlinear process.

  • Many processes in the industrial realm exhibit sstochastic and nonlinear behavior. Consequently, an intelligent system must be able to nonlinear production processes as well as probabilistic phenomena. In order for a knowledge based system to control a manufacturing processes as well as probabilistic phenomena. In order for a knowledge based system to control manufacturing process, an important capability is that of prediction : forecasting the future trajectory of a process as well as the consequences of the control action. This paper examines the robustness of data mining tools under varying levels of noise while predicting nonlinear processes, includinb chaotic behavior. The evaluated models include the perceptron neural network using backpropagation (BPN), the recurrent neural network (RNN) and case based reasoning (CBR). The concepts are crystallized through a case study in predicting a chaotic process in the presence of various patterns of noise.

  • In this paper, We proposed a parallel structure of the Neural Network model to nonlinear complex system. Neural Network was used as basic model which has learning ability and high tolerence level. This paper, we used Neural Network which has BP(Error Back Propagation Algorithm) model. But it sometimes has difficulty to append characteristic of input data to nonlinear system. So that, I used HCM(hard c-Means) method of clustering technique to append property of input data. Clustering Algorithms are used extensively not only to organized categorize data, but are also useful for data compression and model construction. Gas furance, a sewage treatment process are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model and then obtained higher accuracy than other previous medels.

  • In this paper, an optimal identification method using Multi-FNN(Fuzzy-Neural Network) is proposed for model ins of nonlinear complex system. In order to control of nonlinear process with complexity and uncertainty of data, proposed model use a HCM clustering algorithm which carry out the input-output data preprocessing function and Genetic Algorithm which carry out optimization of model. The proposed Multi-FNN is based on Yamakawa's FNN and it uses simplified inference as fuzzy inference method and Error Back Propagation Algorithm as learning rules. HCM clustering method which carry out the data preprocessing function for system modeling, is utilized to determine the structure of Multi-FNN by means of the divisions of input-output space. Also, the parameters of Multi-FNN model such as apexes of membership function, learning rates and momentum coefficients are adjusted using genetic algorithms. Also, a performance index with a weighting factor is presented to achieve a sound balance between approximation and generalization abilities of the model, To evaluate the performance of the proposed model, we use the time series data for gas furnace and the numerical data of nonlinear function.

  • In this paper we review recent developments in nonlinear time series modeling on both conditional mean and conditional variance. Traditional linear model in conditional mean is referred to as ARMA(autoregressive moving average) process investigated by Box and Jenkins(1976). Nonlinear mean models such as threshold, exponential and random coefficient models are reviewed and their characteristics are explained. In terms of conditional variances, ARCH(autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity) class is considered as typical linear models. As nonlinear variants of ARCH, diverse nonlinear models appearing in recent literature including threshold ARCH, beta-ARCH and Box-Cox ARCH models are remarked. Also, a class of unified nonlinear models are considered and parameter estimation for that class is briefly discussed.

  • The paper describes the adaptation of evolutionary fuzzy model ins (EFM) in developing global function approximation tools for use in genetic algorithm based optimization of nonlinear structural systems. EFM is an optimization process to determine the fuzzy membership parameters for constructing global approximation model in a case where the training data are not sufficiently provided or uncertain information is included in design process. The paper presents the performance of EFM in terms of numbers of fuzzy rules and training data, and then explores the EFM based sizing of automotive component for passenger protection.
