The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors associated with health and diet by nutritional status. The subjects were the children aged 2 to 6. Physicians and nurses measured children's anthropometries and examined their blood and urine. Interviewers questioned children's food habits to their mothers. 24 hour recall was done for children with their mother. The nutritional status was classified to 'underweight', 'normal weight' and 'overweight' by weight for height(median±1 S.D.) of the reference population. The number of subjects in each group(under, normal, over) was 25, 130 and 49. Factors including anthropometry and hemoglobin concentration were not significantly dif ferent by the nutritional status. The birth weight of children was correlated positively to mothers' BMI. Z scores of weight for height were related to the birth weight positively by the analysis of variance. The children of the underweight group used nutritional supplements more frequently than those of normal and overweight group. The nutrient intakes of normal weight group were higher than those of low and overweight group. Particularly, the intakes of energy, carbohydrate and calcium were significantly high among the groups. In terms of number of foods, food groups and dishes consumed per day, the children of the normal weight group ate more diversely than other groups but the differences were not significant. In conclusion, the children of normal weight group had similar characteristics with other groups but had more desirable dietary intakes than other groups in this study. Because the diet of children may be different by the nutritional status, nutrition education for children should be conducted according to the characteristics of each group's diet.
Objectives : This study was aimed to investigate attitude of western medicine(WM), Korean medicine (KM), and nursing school students toward the east-west collaborative medical practices(EWCMP). Methods : The participants were 185 WM students, 123 KM students, and 230 nursing students belonging to two universities (P and D) in Busan metropolitan city, Korea. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics, $X^2$ test, t-test and ANOVA with SPSS win 14.0. Results : Of 538 participants, overall 87.1% has heard EWCMP. Preferred type of EWCMP was significantly different by participants' backgrounds. WM students preferred (western) medical treatment with minor supportive Korean medical care(85.5%). However, KM students emphasized EWCMP with the same weight in both medical and Korean medical treatment(59.0%), and nursing students were in between two schools. Intention to recommend EWCMP for the consumer was 67.4%, and also showed very different between WM students and others, 37.3% of WM students, 89.4% of KM students, and 83.9% of nursing students. WM students showed more negative opinion on the EWCMP than KM and nursing students, Conclusions : The attitude of WM, KM, and nursing school students toward EWCMP was very similar to that of WM doctors, KM doctors, and nurses, respectively. WM students showed big difference in the overall attitude toward EWCMP from that of KM and nursing students. It is recommended to introduce the joint curriculum or exchange programs between WM and KM schools.
This study was done to identify the effect of the core fundamental nursing skills program among final year nursing students on their performance confidence, clinical performance capacity, and core nursing ability. The core fundamental nursing skills program was applied to 80 final year nursing students for 6 weeks from August 27 to October 10, 2018. The survey was done in self-writing method. The collected data was analyzed with means, standard deviation, and paired t-test. It was found that performance confidence, clinical performance capacity, and core nursing ability had increased after the program, which were statistically significant. Thus, it is expected that step-by-step and continuous education on core fundamental nursing skills program will upgrade those final year nursing students as skilled and professional nurses.

Objectives : This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of fixed critical pathway with emr (electronic medical record) on the length of hospital stay, the cost and quality of care provided to gastrectomy patients in a university hospital and to develop flexible critical pathway with emr which can be used excluded or drop-out patients. Methods : Thirty-eight patients with gastrectomy were included as case group and Thirty-four patients included as control group. The comparison between control and case with using fixed critical pathway were done. To develop and to evaluate usefulness of flexible critical pathway with flexible data base, simulation was done for flexible critical pathway with drop-out patients. Result : The major results of this study were as follows: There were no significant differences in patient clinical conditions and no sign of deterioration of quality from critical pathway. The length of hospital stay was 11 days in control group, 8 days in path group(P<0.01). The total costs during the hospital stay were reduced in path group. However the cost per day was significantly increased from reduction of hospital stay(554,352 won in control, 645,669 won in path group). One hundred percentage of drop out patients(60) in the simulation of flexible critical pathway was successful. Conclusion : Computerized critical pathway reduced the length of hospital stay, total hospital costs and resource utilization without harming quality of patient care. The flexible critical pathway program can be used as one of the powerful management tools for reducing the practice variations and increasing the efficiency of care process and decreasing the workload of doctors and nurses in Korean hospital settings.

Based on the rapid development of the computer network technology, the ubiquitous sensor network (USN) was developed to enable us to have access to the communication environment anywhere and anytime without the need for recognizing computers or networks. Moreover, with the increasingly high interest on individual health, the USN technology is being applied to diverse sectors for healthcare and disease prevention. In this paper, a system was designed and implemented using the USN-based RF communication for doctors and nurses who care patients in the hospital to easily measure and control the physiological data on blood pressure and blood sugar. In addition, a database was designed using MS SQL database to store and manage the blood pressure and blood sugar data, which were passively or actively measured from patients. Using the results of this study, the physiological data of patients can be managed in real time and emergency situation can be instantly addressed. It is expected that the healthcare service can be improved and the paradigm of healthcare service environment can be changed.

With the recent advances in medical technology and health care, the prevention and treatment of diseases has developed. Accordingly aging has rapidly progressed. In this life span and aging society, demand for diagnostic centered medical care is increasing rapidly. In this paper, we propose a wearable patient check system based on FPGA that can be controlled by sensors. In the existing hospital, a doctor or nurse visited the patient every hour to check the condition. However, in this paper, patients, doctors and nurses can check the patient's condition at the desired time using patient check system. In addition, the tilt sensor is used for the patient who is uncomfortable to easily control. The proposed FPGA-based hardware architecture consists of an algorithm for enlarged image processing, a TFT-LCD Controller, a CIS Controller, and a Memory Controller to output the patient's status image. Implemented and validated using the DE2-115 test board with Cyclone IV EP4CE115F29C7 FPGA device and its operating frequency is 50MHz.

Hand hygiene(HH)of the health care personnels(HCPs) was the most effective method to prevent the transmission of healthcare associated infections. This study was conducted to measure and analysis the status of the HH compliance of HCPs. Data were collected by the direct observation methods of the World Health Organizations(WHO) using WHO's HH monitoring tool kits from 25th October to 31th December, 2010. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, cross analysis, multiple logistic analysis using the SPSS/PC 21 program. A total of 8,644 opportunities for HH were observed, and the overall HH compliance rate was 94.1%. HH rates of physicians was lowest(83.4%; OR: 0.209, 95%CI:0.174-0.252). HH rates were statistically different by the job titles(p<0.001), WHO's 5 moments(p<0.001). HH rates in registered nurses(p=0.003), and medical technicians(p<0.001) were statistically different by the WHO 5Moments. Jobs specific HH strategies and WHO 5Moments should be developed to increase the HH compliances of the HCPs.
