  • Since PV PCS uses output current sensor for ac output current control, the sensor's sensing value includes unnecessary offset inevitably. If PV inverter is controlled by the included offset value, it's output current will generate DC offset. The DC offset of output current for trans-less PV inverter is fatal to grid, which results in saturating grid side transformer. Usually DSP controller of PV inverter reads several times sensing value during initial operation and, finally, it's average value is used for offset calibration. However, if temperature changes, the offset changes, too. Therefore, output current sensor measures sensing value that includes offset again. In this paper we propose new algorithm where two identical forward and reverse sensors are used to calculate the offset in real time. As a result the offset is not correlated with temperature change. The proposed algorithm is verified through PSIM simulation for validity.

  • A large leakage current may be one of the critical issues for poly-silicon thin film transistors(poly-Si TFTs) for LCD applications. In order to reduce the leakage current of poly-Si TFTs, several offset gated structures have been reported. However, those devices, where the offset length in the source region is not same as that in the drain region, exhibit the asymmetric electrical performances such as the threshold voltage shift and the variation of the subthreshold slope. The different offset length is caused by the additional mask step for the conventional offset structures. Also the self-aligned implantation may not be applicable due to the mis-alignment problem. In this paper, we propose a new fabrication method for poly-Si TFTs with a self-aligned offset gated structure by employing a photo resistor reflow process. Compared with the conventional poly-Si TFTs, the device is consist of two gate electrodes, of which one is the entitled main gate where the gate bias is employed and the other is the entitled subgate which is separate from both sides of the main gate. The poly-Si channel layer below the offset oxide is protected from the injected ion impurities for the source/drain implantation and acts as an offset region of the proposed device. The key feature of our new device is the offset lesion due to the offset oxide. Our experimental results show that the offset region, due to the photo resistor reflow process, has been successfully obtained in order to fabricate the offset gated poly-Si TFTs. The advantages of the proposed device are that the offset length in the source region is the same as that in the drain region because of the self-aligned implantation and the proposed device does not require any additional mask process step.

  • Performance and hub vibratory load analyses for a lift-offset coaxial rotor are conducted using a rotorcraft comprehensive analysis code, CAMRAD II. The lift-offset coaxial rotor is trimmed to match the total rotor thrust(lift-offset coaxial rotor's thrust) or the individual rotor thrust(upper and lower rotor thrusts, respectively) in this study. The individual rotor's lift and torque, and effective rotor lift to drag ratio for the total rotor are investigated for various advance ratios and lift-offset values. The two result sets with different trim methods are similar to each other and they are correlated well with the wind-tunnel test results. Therefore, the present study using CAMRAD II validates successfully the aeromechanics modeling and analysis techniques for the lift-offset coaxial rotor.

  • Sophisticated Air Navigation System has contributed to enhancing the capacity of airspace capacity, leading to an efficient airspace environment. However, it has acted as a factor increasing the probability of collision. When an aircraft fails to maintain vertical separation and instead exhibits lateral positional errors, it does not necessarily lead to a collision. However, as the lateral positional accuracy increases, the randomness of aircraft positions decrease, resulting in an elevated probability of collisions. Consequently, The International Civil Aviation Organization has introduced Strategic Lateral Offset Procedures(SLOP), intentionally deviating aircraft from the centerline of airways. Likewise, South Korea also operates Offset procedure. The Y579 was operated using the Offset before its conversion to a dual airway and the analysis of the Offset track revealed that it was being operated similarly to a unidirectional dual airway. This paper develops a safety assessment methodology applicable to unidirectional dual airways, and applies it to perform a safety assessment of the Y579 Offset procedure.

  • The timing offset is one of the main error sources in estimating the frequency offset in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Although some works have been done to mitigate the influence of the timing offset on the frequency offset estimation, most of the investigations require the knowledge of the timing offset range, which is not generally available in practical systems. In this paper, we propose a new frequency offset estimation scheme using differential combining between two successive correlation samples, which does not require the knowledge of the timing offset range, and thus, is robust to the timing offset variation. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme is not only robust to the timing offset variation, but also generally performs better than the conventional scheme on the average, in the case of the timing offset range being not known exactly.

  • In this paper, a new data-aided joint phase and frequency estimator, which has very low computational complexity, is proposed and its variances of phase and frequency estimates are derived. To estimate the phase and frequency offset, first of all, the overall observation interval is divided into same length sub-intervals, and then phase estimates are independently computed based on symbols of the each sub-intervals. To be continue the sequence of computed phase estimates, proper integer multiples of $2{\pi}$ are added to (or subtracted from) the computed phase estimates, which is called linearized phase estimate. The phase offset of the proposed joint estimator is estimated by averaging the linearized phase estimates and the frequency offset by averaging the differences between consecutive linearized phase estimates. The variance of the proposed phase offset estimate is same to MCRB of phase if there is no frequency offset, but it is smaller than MCRB of phase if there is frequency offset. However, the variance of the proposed frequency offset estimate is bigger by at least 0.5 dB than MCRB of frequency with the same observation interval.

  • Offset is a peculiar trade form, the compensation of importing the weapon system, accompanied by the international weapon system contract. Korea has been applying offset to defense acquisition program for fostering the domestic defense industry and improving defense R&D ability since Korean offset policy was built up in 1983. However, there are not enough evidences for benefits of offset and it is rather believed that the performance management system of offset is not thoroughgoing enough because of lack of the systematic policy. It is essential to develop the well-organized performance management system in order to maximize outcomes from application of technology obtained by offset. The main objective of this paper is to propose key performance index that is practically useful to manage offset performance systematically and maximize outcomes of offset.

  • Most of weapon purchasing countries in the world are using offset trade as an important negotiation means of foreign trade. In particular, Japan and Israel have obtained good results in the new projects and finding a new market for the long run through the offset trade. On the other hand, the USA holds much weight in the aspect of Republic of Korea's record of offset trade performance. However, compared with the record, her achievement known concretely has been evaluated insufficiently. Therefore, we suggest the improvement plans of the offset trade drive systems in this study. So that we analyze foreign countries' priority by offset trade type against the USA, the American offset trade object and priority and the case study of offset trade's post valuation plan. Moreover, we extract management problems of assets and technical materials obtained through the offset trade.

  • The poly-Si thin film transistor (TFT) shows large variations in its characteristics due to the grain boundary of poly-crystalline silicon. This results in unacceptably large input offset of low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) receivers. To cancel the large input offset of poly-Si TFT LVDS receivers, a full-digital offset compensation scheme has been developed and verified to be able to keep the input offset under 15 mV which is sufficiently small for LVDS signal receiving.

  • This paper presents one of the first comprehensive studies of how hot electron degradation impacts the input offset voltage of a CMOS differential amplifiers. This study utilizes the concept of a virtual source-coupled MOSFET pair in order to evaluate offset voltaged egradation directly from individual device measurement. Next, analytical models are developed to describe the offset voltage degradation. These models are used to examine how hot electron induced offset voltage is affected with the device parameters.
