이산사건 시뮬레이션과 BIM을 활용한 설계대안 평가에 관한 연구 (Design Alternative Assessment Method using Discrete Event Simulation and Building Information Model)

  • Construction project consists of several stages such as planning, design, construction, operation/maintain, etc. Decisions made in the planning and design stage have a significant impact on the construction and operation/maintain stages. Identifying key resources contributing to duration and cost of design alternatives is an important measure to achieve effective coordination between design and construction. This study proposes a method which finds an optimal design alternative by taking into account of resource planning, expected duration, and cost in construction stage. Base on literature review relative to the assessment of design alternatives, a method which predicts required resources, duration, and cost of the design alternative is established. Then, a method that identifies an optimal design alternative based on the preference of a certain project criteria is developed. Finally, a case study is presented.

U자형 리브의 최적설계에 의한 사출제품의 휨 최소화 (Minimization of Warpage in Injection-molded Parts By Optimal Design of U-type Ribs)

  • In this research, the layout and geometry of U-type ribs in the part, including significant process conditions, are automatically optimized to reduce part warpage with robustness in consideration. The optimization procedure are based on an iterative redesign methodology integrated with computer aided injection molding simulation, Taguchi's Design of Experiment(DOE), and a direct search-based optimization method. The robustness of a design alternative is efficiently measured by introducing composite noise factor and Taguchi's signal-to-noise ratio. As a solution search methodology, the modified design space reduction method based on orthogonal arrays is employed to exploit an optimal robust design alternative. To illustrate the proposed methodology, a case study is performed on simulation results, where an optimal robust design alternative is obtained with a moderate number of iterations.

  • 스마트건설기술 중 하나인 건설정보모델은 현행 건설시설사업에 필수 기술로 인식되고 있다. 특히 건설사업 발주 기관인 조달청 등에서 BIM 전면도입 계획을 발표하였기에 설계지원용역 업무에서도 BIM설계 정보를 활용한 업무추진이라는 변화가 요구되고 있다. LCC분석은 공사내역서상의 아이템, 물량, 비용 정보가 필수 정보이므로 BIM설계 정보 활용에 따른 업무 효율성과 시간단축이 기대되는 분야이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 개방형 KBIMS 라이브러리를 적극 활용하여 최적설계 대안 선정용 BIM-LCC분석 시스템을 구축하였다. 설계안의 적정성과 최적설계안을 선정하기 위하여 단일대안과 최적대안 LCC분석 기능을 구현하였으며, LCC분석과 기능분석을 실시하여 가치가 높은 대안을 선택할 수 있는 기능도 포함하였다. 그러나 BIM-LCC분석 시스템은 국토교통부에서 개방형 BIM을 위해 공개한 건축과 기계 라이브러리만을 적용했다는 한계점을 가지고 있으나 BIM기술을 적용했다는 점에서 실무 활용성과 업무 효율성을 기대할 수 있다. 향후 설계단계 BIM설계정보를 활용한 LCC분석 지원 툴로서 활용하기 위해 다양한 테스트베드를 선정하여 해당 시스템을 검증하고, 실무적용성 및 UI개선, 신규로 추가되는 라이브러리에 대한 LCC기준 DB화 방안에 대한 검토가 필요하겠다.

수요가 불확실한 환경에서 대체공정계획을 고려한 셀형제조시스템 설계 (Design of Cellular Manufacturing System with Alternative Process Plans under Uncertain Demand)

  • Cellular manufacturing system (CMS) has been recognized as an alternative to improve manufacturing productivity in conventional batch-type manufacturing systems through reducing set-up times, work-in-process inventories and throughput times by means of group technology. Most of the studies on the design of CMS assumed that each part has a unique process plan, and that its demand is known as a deterministic value despite of the probabilistic nature of the real world problems. This study suggests an approach for designing CMS, considering both alternative process plans and uncertain demand. A mathematical model is presented to show how to minimize the expected amortized and operating costs satisfying these two relaxations. Four heuristic algorithms are developed based on tabu search which is well suited for getting an optimal or near-optimal solution. Example problems are carried out to illustrate the heuristic algorithms and each of them is compared with the deterministic counterpart.

등압식 바닥 분출공조시스템의 기류 분출 상태에 관한 연구 (A Study on Outlet of Draft Pattern for Equal Pressure Method Underfloor Air Distribution System)

  • This study has been conducted to propose an optimal design guidance of underfloor air distribution system by examining air pattern and proper exhaust status of floor plenum using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). Simulation shows deficient air pattern and exhaust status at BPG (Bypass Grille) of the current design. As a means to find an alternative design, four cases have been developed and tested. Case 1, 2 and 3 show similar results in comparison to the current design. However, case 4 shows improved air pattern and exhaust status at BPG(Bypass Grille), and has been chosen as the optimal alternative.

  • 본 연구는 기존 시공단계 중심의 4D CAD 활용체계를 설계단계까지 확장하여 도로의 최적 설계업무 지원을 위한 4D CAD 기능을 개발하는 것이 목적이다. 도로설계 지원 기능으로는 도로선형에 의한 토공 시뮬레이션, 대안 노선 선정 시뮬레이션 및 구조물 타입 선정 시뮬레이션 기능을 제안하고 있다. 이러한 VR 시뮬레이션 기능을 통해 도로선형지정에 의한 노선 및 토공 상태의 시각적 확인이 가능하다. 또한 대안 노선의 가상적인 모의 배치를 수행함으로써 최적의 대안 노선을 선정할 수 있다. 이와 함께 구조물의 다양한 모델을 지형에 배치하여 주위 환경에 적합한 구조물 형식을 결정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서 제시된 기능은 도로설계의 효율적인 지원을 위해 가상적인 모델 기반의 의사결정도구를 제공한다. 따라서 본 연구에서 구현된 기능 인터페이스를 통해 도로 설계업무의 효율성을 기대할 수 있다.

Comparison of Asset Management Approaches to Optimize Navigable Waterway Infrastructure

  • An estimated investment gap of $176 billion needs to be filled over the next ten years to improve America's inland waterway transportation systems. Many of these infrastructure systems are now beyond their original 50-year design life and are often behind in maintenance due to funding constraints. Therefore, long-term maintenance strategies (i.e., asset management (AM) strategies) are needed to optimize investments across these waterway systems to improve their condition. Two common AM strategies include policy-driven maintenance and performance-driven maintenance. Currently, limited research exists on selecting the optimal AM approach for managing inland waterway transportation assets. Therefore, the goal of this study is to provide a decision model that can be used to select the optimal alternative between the two AM approaches by considering key uncertainties such as asset condition, asset test results, and asset failure. We achieve this goal by addressing the decision problem as a single-criterion problem, which calculates each alternative's expected value and certain equivalence using allocated monetary values to determine the recommended alternative for optimally maintaining navigable waterways. The decision model considers estimated and predicted values based on the current state of the infrastructure. This research concludes that the performance-based approach is the optimal alternative based on the expected value obtained from the analysis. This research sets the stage for further studies on fiscal constraints that will effectively optimize these assets condition.

  • This study presents an algorithm to select the best alternative plane among various bridge superstructure types (Steel box girder, Rational girder, PSC-I girder) using Value Engineering (VE). Economical efficiency, landscape, constructability, maintenance, stability, function of bridge superstructure were taken into consideration in the designing of bridge. Economical efficiency was evaluated for each alternative plan with optimal design considering Life Cycle Cost (LCC), Repair and rehabilitation histories and some factors were set to get reasonable results. In the application of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), consistency of Pairwise Comparisons Matrix was evaluated and the best plan was determined.

  • Optimizing multiple design characteristics which are usually in conflict with each other in the injection molding process is frequently becoming a critical problem for designers who work in this area. The purpose of this work is to develop an automated design methodology for optimizing two such design characteristics found in injection-molded parts. A value function based on decision-making theory is used as a means of evaluating the performance of a two-characteristic design alternative. Also, a design space reduction algorithm based on Taguchi's orthogonal arrays is utilized to discover an optimal design alternative. Verification of the developed design methodology is carried out for an actual model with two design characteristics, the weld line and the gate location, to be optimized in computer simulation experiments.
