적응진화연산을 이용한 배전계통의 과전류계전기 최적 정정치 결정 (Optimal Setting of Overcurrent Relay in Distribution Systems Using Adaptive Evolutionary Algorithm)

  • This paper presents the application of Adaptive Evolutionary Algorithm (AEA) to search an optimal setting of overcurrent relay coordination to protect ring distribution systems. The AEA takes the merits of both a genetic algorithm (GA) and an evolution strategy (ES) in an adaptive manner to use the global search capability of GA and the local search capability of ES. The overcurrent relay settings and coordination requirements are formulated into a set of constraint equations and an objective function is developed to manage the overcurrent relay settings by the Time Coordination Method. The domain of overcurrent relays coordination for the ring-fed distribution systems is a non-linear system with a lot of local optimum points and a highly constrained optimization problem. Thus conventional methods fail in searching for the global optimum. AEA is employed to search for the optimum relay settings with maximum satisfaction of coordination constraints. The simulation results show that the proposed method can optimize the overcurrent relay settings, reduce relay mis-coordinated operations, and find better optimal overcurrent relay settings than the present available methods.

  • This paper presents an adaptive overcurrent relay applied to interconnecting wind generators in distribution networks. When a fault occurs in the case of the decreasing the wind power generator output, the conventional overcurrent relay can't detect the fault. The suggested adaptive overcurrent relay can detect. An adaptive overcurrent relay improves reliability and security of the power system protection with distributed generator APSCAD/EMTDC simulation results have shown effectiveness of the proposed method.

옥내배선에서 과전류와 누전 신호의 상관관계 적용을 위한 지능형 기법 연구 (A Study on Intelligent Technique for Correlation Application of Overcurrent and Leakage Current Signals in the Indoor Wiring)

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the correlation application that electrical fire causes occurs for overcurrent and leakage current signals in the indoor wiring. In the order to purpose, the causes data of overcurrent, or leakage current of electrical fire are drawn out referring to past studies, consulting with experts and experimental data. The correlation application was then applied with fuzzy logic of intelligent technique. To check the reliability and performance of the correlation application, modified center of area(CoA) was adopted to calculate the possibility that electrical fire occurs, whose value was then compared to the results. The chance of electrical fire calculated is higher when two causes of fire are put into the CoA of the correlation application of this paper than that of when each cause is separately put into the CoA. The correlation application developed in this study enables better analysis on possible electrical fire due to overcurrent, or leakage current and provides managers with the possibility of electrical fire so that they can better manage at a time of overcurrent, or leakage current.

재래시장 상가에서 과전류 및 직렬아크의 전류 신호에 대한 분석 (Analysis of Current Signals for Overcurrent and Series Arc in Traditional Market Shops)

  • This paper is aimed to analysis of electrical fire risk by overcurrent and series arc signals in traditional market shops Firstly, the field state investigation was conducted for shops at the traditional market (30 shops). At each shop in the traditional market, load characteristics were investigated and thermal characteristics in Panel were analyzed. Thermal characteristics in Panel is an indicator that can determine the impact of overcurrent. Results of the field state investigation found out four shops which showed abnormal thermal characteristics in Panel. Electrical load characteristics of these 4 shops were simulated by experimental setup consists of generator, motor and heater. In order to verify the electrical fire risk by electrical loads of 4 shops, arc and overcurrent experiments were conducted. The waveshapes of arc and overcurrent are investigated in both the time and frequency domains to find signal characteristics. The results obtained in this paper will be very helpful for the prevention of electrical fires occurred at the shops in the traditional market.

  • This paper describes the correction of overcurrent protective relaying set value in distribution networks interconnected with wind farm by dedicated line. The wind farm composed of wind turbine generators is one of the great energy sources; however, it would be also highly possible that the current in the point of common coupling is influenced by the output power of wind farm. So, the overcurrent relay applied in distribution feeders might generate trip signal for normal operation. In order to prevent the mal-operation of overcurrent relay, it is necessary to correct the relay's setting value according to the output power of end farm. This paper presents the influence of wind farm on the overcurrent relaying set value in distribution feeders for cases of fault as well as normal operation and proposes the basic strategy for correction of overcurrent relaying set value.

  • The market of domestic Power Plant Generator Protection and Control System (GPCS) is narrow and required the high reliability, and technology. So, it is still operated as turn-key. In recent years, digital relays has evolved into IED can perform the control and monitoring functions without central monitoring based on IEC61850 international standards communications, and attention for advancement of smart grid and ECMS has been increased in South Korea. The increasing attention on multi-function IED, DGPS(digital generator protection system), for internal fault protection of large generator results in starting a national project in South Korea, the IED prototype development for next-generation power units. The voltage restrained overcurrent relay have been used as back-up overcurrent protection for generators. In this paper, voltage restrained overcurrent relay is one of the back-up protective factors in generator protection IED was presented. For evaluation performance of the voltage restrained overcurrent relay, the data of ATPDraw5.7p4 modeling was used.

반복과전류에 의한 퓨즈 엘리먼트의 용단특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the melting Characteristics of Fuse Element by Repeating Overcurrent)

  • 본 논문은 고압용 전류제한 퓨즈의 열화 요인으로 작용되는 반복과전류에 의한 퓨즈 엘리먼트의 용단특성을 시험을 통하여 분석 및 규명하였다. 반복과전류에 의한 열화 진행 속도를 규명하기 위하여 엘리먼트노칭 형상별 열 해석을 수행하였으며 판형, 환형의 다양한 시험용 엘리먼트의 형상을 설계, 제작하여 이를 기중상태 및 규사충전상태의 소호제 유무에서 부하율을 조정하여 반복과전류 시험을 통한 용단특성을 분석, 수명과의 관계를 예측할 수 있는 자료를 제시하였다. 본 논문의 시험을 통하여 반복과전류에 의한 소호제와의 마찰로 퓨즈 엘리먼트의 변형 및 단면의 감소와 반복응력으로 인한 균열이 발생하여 퓨즈 반복 횟수에 따른 수명을 단축시키는 문제점의 도출과 엘리먼트 노칭 형상에 따라서 용단 특성이 차이가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 논문의 결과물은 재료의 마찰과 반복 전류의 부하율에 따른 반복 수명과의 상관관계에 관한 내용으로 고압용 전류제한 퓨즈의 성능 향상 개선을 위한 설계 시 중요한 기초 자료로 활용되리라 기대된다.

과전류에 의해 단락된 전선의 결정성장 특성에 관한 연구 (Study of the Characteristics and Crystal Growth of a shorted Wire by Overcurrent)

  • 전선에 정격이상의 과전류가 흐르게 되면 온도가 상승하고 전선피복이 열화되어 단락현상이 발생한다. 과전류의 크기에 따라 전선의 온도 상한치는 변화하며, 각각의 온도 상한치에서 단락이 발생할 때, 단락온도와 전선표면온도간 온도차로 인해 응고과정에서 냉각속도 차이가 발생한다. 이때 용융단면에 형성되는 수지상 조직의 패턴특징이 상이하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 과전류 크기에 따라 변화하는 전선온도의 상한치를 측정하고, 이때 단락을 발생시켜 수지상의 2차 가지 간격(Dendrite Arm Spacing : DAS)을 분석하여 수치를 정량화 하였다. 실험결과, 과전류 크기가 커짐에 따라 전선온도의 상한치는 증가하였으며, 전선온도가 높아질수록 2차 가지 간격이 증가하는 것을 확인하였다.

PCITS에 의해 소손된 1Φ 2 W MCCB의 탄화 패턴 및 작동 특성 (Carbonization Patten and Operation Characteristics of a 1Φ 2 W MCCB Damaged by PCITS)

  • 본 연구에서는 대전류공급장치시스템(PCITS)을 이용하여 열동전자식 배선용차단기(MCCB)에 과전류를 인가하였을 때 소손된 패턴을 해석하는 데 있다. MCCB의 트립바가 소손된 상태에서 PCITS로 과전류 150 A를 5 s 동안 흘렀을 때 우측에 위치한 온도 조절 장치의 표면이 심하게 탄화되었다. 동일한 조건에서 300 A의 과전류를 5 s 동안 흘렸을 때 온도 조절 장치의 전체가 열화(劣化)되어 납작하게 밀착되었다. 과전류 450 A를 5 s 동안 흘렸을 때 온도 조절 장치의 코일은 융융 및 단선이 발생하였다. 또한 접점, 외함 및 상부 덮개 등에서 탄화 흔적 및 변형이 확인되었다. 과전류600 A를 공급하고 3 s 정도가 경과되었을 때 MCCB의 내부에서 흰색 연기가 발생하였고, 불꽃이 외부로 방사되었다. 그리고 탁(딱)하는 소리와 동시에 과전류의 공급이 중단되었다. 동일한 MCCB를 일반 화염으로 소손시켰을 때 작동 손잡이, 단자, 소호 장치 및 온도 조절 장치 등의 표면에 탄화가 고르게 형성된 것을 알 수 있다. 또한 작동 기구부의 트립바는 녹아 흘러 내렸으며, 작동 금속핀은 트립 상태로 이동된 것이 확인된다.

An Accurate Model of Multi-Type Overcurrent Protective Devices Using Eigensystem Realization Algorithm and Practice Applications

  • Accurate models of the characteristics of typical inverse-time overcurrent (OC) protective devices play an important role in the protective coordination schemes. This paper presents a novel approach to determine the OC protective device parameters. The approach is based on the Eigensystem Realization Algorithm which generates a state space model to fit the characteristics of OC protective devices. Instead of the conventional characteristic curves, the dynamic state space model gives a more exact fit of the OC protective device characteristics. This paper demonstrates the feasibility of decomposing the characteristic curve into smooth components and oscillation components. 19 characteristic curves from 13 typical and 6 non-typical OC protective devices are chosen for curve-fitting. The numbers of fitting components required are determined by the maximum absolute values of errors for the fitted equation. All fitted equations are replaced by a versatile equation for the characteristics of OC protective devices which represents the characteristic model of a novel flexible OC relay, which in turn may be applied to improve the OC coordination problems in the sub-transmission and distribution systems.
