The Effect of PNN Substitution on the Piezoelectric Properties of Low Temperature Sintering PMN-PZT Ceramics (PNN치환이 저온소결 PMN-PZT 세라믹스의 압전특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, in order to develop multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3-Na_2CO_3$ as sintering aids and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated with the function of PNN substitution. With increasing PNN substitution, dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}r$), electromechanical coupling factor(kp), and piezoelectric d constant($d_{33}$) were increased at 10~12[mol%] PNN substitution and then decreased at all sintering temperature. With increasing PNN substitution, phase changed from tetragonal to rhombohedral at [10~12mol%] PNN substitution. At the 12[mol%] PNN substituted PMN-PZT composition ceramic sintered at 950[$^{\circ}C$], density, ${\varepsilon}r$, kp, $d_{33}$ and Qm showed the optimum value of 7.79[$g/cm^3$], 1160, 0.599, 419[pC/N) and 894, respectively for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.

Effect of ZnO on Low Temperature Sintering of PMN-PNN-PZT Ceramics (ZnO가 PMN-PNN-PZT 세라믹스의 저온소결에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, in order to develop multilayer ceramic actuator for ultrasonic nozzle and ultrasonic vibrator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3$. $Na_2CO_3$ and ZnO as sintering aids. And then, their piezoelectric and dielectric properties according to the amount of ZnO addition were investigated. The addition of ZnO improved density, dielectric constant, electromechanical coupling factor, mechanical quality factor and piezoelectric d constant of PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics due to the increase of sinterability and accepter doping effect. Electromechanical coupling factor and mechanical quality factor of PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics increased with ZnO amount up to 0.4wt% and then decreased. At the sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C$ and 0.4wt% ZnO addition, density, dielectric constant, electromechanical coupling factor, mechanical quality factor and piezoelectric d constant showed the optimum value of 7.876g/$cm^2$, 1299, 0.612, 1151 and 369pC/N, respectively.

Electrical Properties of High Power Step Down Multilayer Piezoelectric Transformer using Low Temperature Sintering PMN-PNN-PZT Ceramics (저온소결 PMN-PNN-PZT 세라믹스를 이용한 고출력 강압용 적층 압전변압기의 전기적 특성)

  • In this study, multilayer piezoelectric transformer was manufactured using the PMN-PNN-PZT ceramic and then the electrical characteristics were investigated according to the variations of frequency and load resistance. The voltage step-up ratio of multilayer piezoelectric transformer showed the maximum value at the vicinity of 75 kHz and increased according to the increase of load resistance. When the output impedance coincided with the load resistance, the multilayer piezoelectric transformer showed the temperature rise of less than $20^{\circ}C$ at the output power of 20 W. As the results, the multilayer piezoelectric transformer manufactured at low co-firing temperature of $940^{\circ}C$ using PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics could be stably driven as the step-down transformers.

  • In this study, the structural, dielectric and piezoelectric properties of $Pb[(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_x-(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.09-x}-(Zn_{0.505}Ti_{0.495)_0.91]O_3$ (x=0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05) system ceramics were investigated to develop the composition ceramics for piezoelectric transformer. All the specimens were sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ and its physical properties were measured, and the results are as follows : With increasing PNN substitution for PMN-PZT system, dielectric constant was increased and electro-mechanical coupling factor($k_p$) was increased to 0.62 at 5 mol% while mechanical quality factor(Qm) was decreased.

  • In this study, in odor to develop low temperature sintering multilayer piezoelectric actuator and ultrasonic vibrator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3$ and $Na_2CO_3$ as sintering aids and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated according to the addition of dopant CuO and $Fe_2O_3$, respectively. The CuO added PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics improved mechanical quality factor Qm due to the acceptor doping effect. And also, $Fe_2O_3$ reacted as softner in this composition system in addition to the increase of grain size and sinterability. Taking into consideration electromechanical coupling factor kp of 0.62, dielectric constant $\varepsilon_r$, of 1275, Piezoelectric $d_{33}$ constant of 377[pC/N] and mechanical quality factor Qm of 975, it was concluded that the ceramics with the $Fe_2O_3$, added composition sintered at 900[$^{\circ}C$] were best for the multilayer piezoelectric actuator and ultrasonic vibrator application.

  • In this study, m order to develop multilayer ceramics vibrator for ultrasonic nozzle, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3-Na_2CO_3$ as sintering aids and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated according to the aomunt of PbO. With increasing PbO contents. secondary phases were increased and phase structure were changed from tetragonal structure to rhombohedral structure and also electromechanical coupling factor were linearly decreased. At the composition ceramics with the sintering temperature of $870^{\circ}C$ and 1 mol% excess PbO, density, electromechanical coupling factor, dielectric constant, piezoelectric d constant and mechanical quality factor showed the optimum value of $7.879g/cm^2$, 0.55, 1149, 328pC/N, 1224, respectively for multilayer ceramics vibrator application for ultrasonic nozzle.

  • In this study, in order to develop the low temperature sintering multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT system ceramics were manufactured and their microstructure, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. By increasing sintering temperature, remanent polarization$(P_r)$ was increased due to the increase of sinterability and grain size. However, coercive $field(E_c)$ showed an opposite tendency to remanent polarization owing to the feasibility of domain wall motion. At the sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C$, dielectric $constant({\varepsilon}_r)$, electromechanical coupling $factor(k_p)$, piezoelectric $constant(d_{33})$ and mechanical quality $factor(Q_m)$ showed the optimal value of 1095, 0.60, 363 and 1055, respectively, for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.

  • In this study, in order to develop the multilayer piezoelectric actuator and ultrasonic resonator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated by the variations of ball size at sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C$ and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated as a function of the variations of ball size. When the ball size was 3mm$\phi$, density, dielectric constant$({\varepsilon}r)$, electromechanical coupling factor(kp) and piezoelectric d constant$(d_{33})$ were increased. At the ball size of 3mm$\phi$, the specimen showed the optimum values of density=7.909g/$cm^3$, kp=0.592, Qm=1292, $d_{33}$=368pC/N, $\varepsioln_r$=1502, respectively.

  • In this study, in order to develop the low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics using ${Fe_2}{O_3}$ and $WO_3$ as sintering aids were manufactured with the amount of $WO_3$ addition, and the specimens were sintered at 900, 930, $960^{\circ}C$, respectively. Thereafter, their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. The sintering aids were proved to lower the sintering temperature of piezoelectric ceramics due to the effects of ${Fe_2}{O_3}$ and $WO_3$ liquid phase. At 0.3wt% $WO_3$ added specimen sintered at $930^{\circ}C$, kp, Qm, dielectric constant and $d_{33}$ showed the optimum values of 0.60, 1402, 1440 and 360[pC/N], respectively, for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.
