  • The contamination of photovoltaic (PV) cells reduces the incidence of sunlight and reduces the power generation output of PV cells. The main factor influencing the contamination of PV cells installed outdoors is the fine dust in the air, but the influence of temperature, humidity, rain and wind can be considered. In this paper, experiments on the contamination of PV cells according to the fine dust density, the temperature and humidity of air were investigated. As results of this study, the contamination area of PV cells increases with contamination time and cumulative fine dust density in the air. The contamination of PV cells increases when the temperature is low and the humidity is high. Also, as the contamination of PV cells is affected to the wind, the deviation of contamination area is happened.

  • The efficiency of solar cell was about 4[%] in initial stage of photovoltaic industry, but it has quite a lot of efficiency through technology advances. Today, the efficiency of c-Si solar cells is about 17 to 19[%] and the efficiency of PV modules is about 14 to 15 [%]. We called that electrical losses occurred in the Conversion of solar cells to PV modules are CTM loss(Cell To Module loss), the CTM loss typically has a value of about3~5[%]. The more efficiency of solar cell increase, differences are larger because the efficiency decrease owing to physical or technical problems occurred in the Conversion of solar cells to PV modules. In this study, the power loss factors occurred in the Conversion of solar cells to PV modules are analyzed and it is proposed that how to reduce losses of the PV module. The types of power loss factor are (1)losses of front glass and encapsulant(generally EVA sheet), (2)losses by sorting miss, (3)losses by interconnection, (4)losses by the field aging of PV modules. In further study, experimental and evaluation will be conducted to make demonstrate for proposed solutions.

  • In this paper, we analyze the electrical characteristics of PV depending on distance among solar cells before and after lamination process. From the result, the PV module's maximum power increases about 3.37% when solar cells's distance is 10mm. And the maximum power increases up to 8.42% when solar cells's maximum distance is 50mm. It is assumed that PV module's surface temperature decreases because of increasing distance between solar cells that would give high power generation. Also, short distance between solar cell and frame result in contamination on glass. When considering reduced maximum power caused by contaminant, from that. we can fabricated PV module of lower cost with high performance.

  • When analyzing economic feasibility for installing a PV generation plant at a certain location, the prediction of possible annual power production at the site using the target PV panels should be conducted on the basis of the local weather data provided by a local weather forecasting office. In addition, the prediction of PV generating power under certain weather conditions is useful for fault diagnosis and performance evaluation of PV generation plants during actual operation. This study analyzes PV cell characteristics according to a variety of weather conditions, including ambient temperature and irradiance level. From the analysis and simulation results, this work establishes a proper model that can predict the output characteristics of PV cells under changes in weather conditions.

  • In this paper presents comparison of performance of flexible solar cells construction applied to curtain walls. The proposed paper compares power generation for curtain walls of various shapes using flexible PV. Through the comparison of performance, the power generation was compared by installing various types of flexible PV on the air layer of double windows. By comparing the measured power generation, it is possible to find an optimal flexible PV shape that can be applied to a curtain wall. Flexible PV installation was divided into diagonal, S and W shapes. As a result of comparison, the amount of power generation when there was no flexure of flexible PV was large. Also, as the angle with the light source increased, the power generation decreased. Therefore, it is necessary to study the structure which can fix the PV more than the flexible PV and to be able to direct the sun without distortion.

  • This paper proposes an automatic tracking control algorithm for efficiency improvement of photovoltaic generation. Increasing the power of PV systems should improve the efficiency of solar cells or the power condition system. The normal alignment of the PV module always have to run perpendicular to the sun's rays. The solar tracking system, able to improve the efficiency of the PV system, was initiated by applying that to the PV power plant. The tracking system of conventional PV power plant has been studied with regard to the tracking accuracy of the solar cells. Power generation efficiency were increased by aligning the cells for maximum exposure to the sun's rays. Using a perpendicular position facilitated optimum condition. However, there is a problem about the reliability of tracking systems unable to not track the sun correctly during environmental variations. Therefore, a novel control algorithm needs to improve the generation efficiency of the PV systems and reduce the loss of generation. This control algorithm is the proposed automatic tracking algorithm in this paper. Automatic tracking control is combined the sensor and program method for robust control in environment changing condition. This tracking system includes the insolation, rain sensor and anemometer for climate environment changing. Proposed algorithm in this paper, is compared to performance of conventional tracking control algorithm in variative insolation condition. And prove the validity of proposed algorithm through the experimental data.

  • Solar cell converts light energy to electric energy. But a solar cell generates low power, PV module is fabricated by connected in series with dozens of solar cell. Owing to solar cell connected in series, power of PV module is influenced by shading or mismatch power of solar cells. To prevent power loss of PV module by shading or mismatch current, Bypass diodes are installed in PV module. Bypass diode operating reverse voltage by shading or mismatch power of solar cells bypass mismatch current. However, bypass diode in module exposed outdoor is easily damaged by surge voltage. In this paper, we confirm characteristics variation of PV module with damaged bypass diode. As a result, power of PV module with damaged bypass diode is reduced and Temperature of that is increased.

  • Physiological and morphological characteristics of Anabaena azollae cells immobilized in a synthetic polymer, polyvinyl(PV), were investigated. The cell density of the non-immersed PV foam reached 4.4mg Chl/g dry wt. PV foam. This is 8 times higher than that of PV-immobiliz action in immersed batch system. And MSX-induced ammonia productivity and the photosynthectic oxygen evolution activity are higher than that of free cells after short-term dark storage. Nitrogenase activity and thermostability of photosynthetic activity are also higher than that of free Anabaena cells after immobilization. Total hydrogen production reached to 1.6ml $H_2$ per reactor (total 4mg Chl) after 6 days.
