  • The popularity of flat-panel display(FPD), including plasma display panel(PDP) and liquid-crystal display(LCD), has given rise to the need to streamline their production. In these days, PDP is one of the most popular display devices because of its expansion of manufacturing process and simplicity. Bus electrodes, sustain electrodes, barrier ribs and RGB phosphors are patterned on PDP panel to display an image. Since a minute damage on the pattern can cause a serious defect to display, it is important to inspect the pattern precisely. In this paper, an automatic inspection system of repeated pattern in PDP panel has been introduced to find the defect, such as open, short, dirt, island, and so on. And the inspection system has been operated in the mass production line of PDP.

  • Simultaneous pattern measurement system is new research subject for OLED panel inspection. It is defect inspection of OLED panel after deposition. This research suggests the system that calculates the size and center point of each patterns after obtaining standard and deposition pattern as one image. This system could be applied to OLED manufacturing process. The research result shows that the size and center point of each patterns could be obtained by displaying the standard pattern and deposition pattern in one image.

  • In this paper we used the KLIPS(Korean Labor and Income Panel tudy) data that surveyed from 2006(wave 9) to 2009(wave 12). Other previous studies are concerned with the panel attrition in the early wave, but this study classifies the response pattern and investigates some factors that influence panel attrition when the panel tends to stabilize. It was revealed that panel attrition was influenced by relocation and housing type through the logit model. Besides it was appeared that panel attrition was affected by the monthly living expenses and the overall household income through the decision tree.

  • In this study, an equivalent boundary conditions (BCs) determination method is developed numerically for a panel reinforced concrete (RC) slab to realistically analyze the deformation and fatigue behaviors of a bridge RC slab. For this purpose, a finite element analysis of a bridge RC slab is carried out beforehand to calculate the stiffness of the bridge RC slab, and then the equivalent BCs for the panel RC slab are determined to achieve the same stiffness at the BCs to the obtained stiffness of the bridge RC slab at the corresponding locations of the bridge RC slab. Moreover, for the simulation of fatigue behaviors, fatigue analysis of the panel RC slab is carried out employing a finite element method based on a numerical model that considers the bridging stress degradation. Both the determined equivalent BCs and the BCs that have been typically applied in past studies are employed. The analysis results confirm that, in contrast to the panel RC slab with typically used BCs, the panel RC slab with equivalent BCs simulate the same bending moment distribution and deformation behaviors of the bridge RC slab. Furthermore, the equivalent BCs reproduce the extensive grid crack pattern in the panel RC slab, which is alike the pattern normally witnessed in a bridge RC slab. Conclusively, the panel RC slab with equivalent BCs behaves identical to the bridge RC slab, and, as a result, it shows more realistic fatigue behaviors observed in the bridge RC slab.

  • We propose a novel calibration method which can be applied to all kinds of panel-type multi-view displays. We analyze how the angular, the axial, and the lateral misalignment affects the 3D image quality in a panel-type multi-view display. We demonstrate the ray optics simulation with a 3-view slanted parallax barrier system using pentile display for the quantitative calculation. Based on the analysis, we propose a new alignment pattern for all kinds of panel-type multi-view displays. The proposed pattern is sensitive to all of the angular, the axial, and the lateral misalignments. The high spatial frequency images and on and off alignment in the proposed pattern help observers to calibrate the system easily. We theoretically show the generality of the proposed alignment pattern and verify the pattern with image simulations and experiments.

  • In this paper, we designed and manufactured HD Switch Panel parts with micro-etched pattern. By using CAE analysis, we could predict weld-line positions and the amount of shrinkage during injection molding process. We measured the temperature distribution of the mold surface so that we could optimize the processing conditions such as mold temperature. In order to increase the transcription of micro-etched pattern, we applied the E-Mold technology and evaluated the effect of mold temperature on the surface quality. We concluded that the etched pattern was improved(more than 2.5$\to$1.5~1.7) through the measurement of surface gloss and the observation of both SEM and SPM images.

  • We propose a novel application of laser engraving to patterning of light guide panel (LGP) for backlight. The feasibility of three-dimensional engraved pattern in the LGP was verified by measuring brightness and uniformity. To improve the overall uniformity, we have modified proposed patterns and found improved design for patterns. The tailoring of pattern by using laser engraving method could endow the controllability of uniformity. The proposed LGPs are more efficient in both average brightness and uniformity of illumination than the conventional LGPs which have surface pattern on the panel.

  • We proposed new light guide panel (LGP) fabrication method exploiting laser-processed inner scatterers and surface pattern. The proposed method has achieved LGP performance improvement in both brightness and uniformity. The inner scatterers and surface pattern of grid type were fabricated with a 2nd harmonic Nd:YAG pulse laser engraving system and a $CO_2$ laser scanning system, respectively. In the implementation of LGP, inner scatterers was arranged in accordance with linear or curved pattern with changing density and surface pattern was engraved on the surface of an inner-scatterers embedded LGP. The increase of scatterers' density and the use of surface patterns in both linear and curved pattern provided high luminance and uniformity enhancement. While thecurved pattern incorporated with increased scatterers' density and surface patterns yielded brightness improvement with preserving good uniformity, the linear pattern showed highly localized brightness near the light entrance of the LGP. We can also observe that the uniformity was mainly determined by pattern of inner scatterers, and the brightness was improved by the higher density and the utilization of surface patterns. From the results, the use of laser-processed inner and surface patterns can be a potential alternative for efficient and simple LGP fabrication method.

  • This paper proposes a non-contact color inspection system for plasma display panel (PDP). The red, green, and blue test pattern images are acquired by using the area color CCD camera at the various distance from the PDP. The RGB values are obtained from the region of interest (ROI) which are extracted by applying the image processing to the test pattern image. Finally, the CIE xy and u'v' chromaticity coordinates of the test pattern images according to the distance are acquired from the RGB color coordinates.
