A study on tuning parameter selection for MDPDE (MDPDE의 조율모수 선택에 관한 연구)

  • The MDPDE is an attractive alternative to maximum likelihood estimator because of the strong robustness properties that it inherently possess. The characteristics of MDPDE can be varied with the tuning parameter, in general, there is a trade-off between robustness and asymptotic efficiency. Hence, selection of optimal tuning parameter is important but complicated task. In this study, we introduce two optimal tuning parameter selection methods proposed by Fujisawa and Eguchi (2005) and Warwick (2006). Through simulation study, we found out that Warwick's method yields excessively small optimal tuning parameter in certain cases while Fujisawa and Eguchi's method performs well. Therefore, we think Fujisawa and Eguchi's method can be used commonly for finding optimal tuning parameter of MDPDE.

  • AVR parameter tuning for voltage control of power system generators has generally been performed with the analytic methods and the simulation methods, which mostly depend on off-line linear mathematical models of excitation control system. However, due to the nonlinear nature of excitation control system, excitation control system performance of the tuned Parameters using the above conventional tuning methods may not be appropriate for some operating conditions. This paper presents an AVR parameter tuning method using actual on-line data of the excitation control system with the parameter optimization technique. As this method utilizes on-line operating data of the target excitation control system not the mathematical model of the system, it can overcome the limitation of model uncertainty Problems in conventional method, and it can tune the AVR parameter set which gives desired performance at the operating conditions. For the verification of proposed tuning method, two case studies with scaled excitation systems and the real-time power system simulator are presented.

  • Database system parameter tuning is one of database system tuning that achieve to improve performance of database system with application program tuning and data model tuning. By parameter tuning adjusts value of entry that is staled in data dictionary's parameter file that is included to database system, it is thing which make relevant database system can display performance of most suitable. And, it is that achievement is one o( possible tuning method immediately without occurrence of additional expense or involved hardware for database system performance elevation and ashes composition of software. But, it is actuality that administration about parameter practical use is not achieved, and is using Default Value of parameter that database management system offers just as it is systematically. So, this paper presents parameter tuning process that can :achieve Parameter tuning of database system that is operating present systematically, and parameter tuning process each activity important input urea and tuning achievement product. And explain about effect and result that happen by sort database system performance and parameters that it is affinity systematically, and grasp relationships between parameter, and change parameter of string database system. And not that parameter uses contents that specify by fixing when establish database administration system, is going to emphasize and explain that must utilize changing continuously during database system operation. It changes parameter entry value how in various kinds different operation environment and present if must apply, and will arrange effect that this parameter enoy value alteration gets in performance liking into account point that is actuality that is using parameter that define database administrators when install the database system just as it is continually without alteration.

  • It has been recognized as important subject by users that PID-Controllers widely used in industrial processes must be well-tuned, In this paper, We present an automatic tuning method for PID-Controllers which is based on discrete parameter estimation and application of conventional tuning-rules. The method is easy to implement on microprocessor because critical values are obtained by the mathematical computation. Also, it permits quick on-line tuning. Simulation results show that most processes are well tuned by the suggested tuning method in this paper.

Self -Tuning Scheme for Parameters of PID Controllers by Fuzzy Inference (퍼지추론에 의한 PID제어기의 파라미터 Tuning의 구성)

  • A PID parameter tuning method was presented by the fuzzy singleton inference, based on step response-shaping of plant and experience knowledge of expert. The parameter-tuning has tow levels. The higher level determines modified coefficients for the controller based on operator's tuning know-how for characteristics of plant which can not be modeled. The lower level determines specified coefficients based on characteristics of response by Ziegler-Nickel's bounded sensitivity method. The last level parameters tuning of a PID controller is adjusted which the modified and specified coefficients makes adjustment rule, and is adjusted the proper value to each parameters by fuzzy singleton inference. Moreover, proposed the tuning method can reflex exporter knowledge and operator's tuning know-how and fuzzy singleton inference is rapidly operated.

  • AVR parameter tuning for voltage control of generators has generally been done with the off-line open-circuit model of the synchronous generator. When the generator is connected on-line and operating with load the AVR operates in an entirely different environment from the open-circuit conditions. This paper describes a new method for AVR parameter tuning for on line conditions using SQP(Sequential Quadratic Programming) meshed with frequency response characteristics of linearized on-line system model. As the proposed method uses the un - line system model the tuned parameter sets show more optimal behavior in the on-line operating conditions. furthermore, as this method considers the performance indices that are needed for stable operation as constraints, AVR parameter sets that are tuned by this method could guarantee the stable performance, too.

  • The paper describes the parameter tuning of power system stabilizer (PSS) for a power plant based on hybrid system modeling. The existing tuning method based on bode plot and root locus is well applied to keep power system stable. However, due to linearization of power system and an assumption that the parameter ratio of the lead-lag compensator in PSS is fixed, the results cannot guarantee the optimal performances to damp out low-frequency oscillation. Therefore, in this paper, hybrid system modeling, which has a DAIS (differential-algebraic-impusive-switched) structure, is applied to conduct nonlinear modeling for power system and find optimal parameter set of the PSS. The performances of the proposed method are carried out by time domain simulation with a single machine connected to infinite bus (SMIB) system.

When the generator is connected on-line and operating at rated load conditions, the AVR operates in an entirely different environment from the open-circuit conditions. This paper describes a new method for AVR parameter tuning using optimization technique with on-line linearized system model. As this method considers not only the on-line models but also the off-line open-circuit models, AVR parameters tuned by this method can give the sufficiently stable performance at the open-circuit commissioning phase and give the desired performance at the operating conditions. Also this method estimates the optimum parameters for desired performance indices that are chosen for satisfying requirements in some practical applications, the performance of the AVR can satisfy the various requirements.

  • This paper presents the method for the automatic tuning of a design weighting polynomial parameter of a generalized minimum-variance stochastic self tuning controller which adapts to changes in the system parameters with time delays and noises. The self tuning effect is achieved through the recursive least square algorithm at the parameter estimation stage and also through the Robbins-Monro algorithm at the stage of optimizing a design weighting polynomial parameters. The proposed self tuning method is simple and effective compared with other existing self tuning methods. The computer simulation results are presented to illustrate the procedure and to show the performance of the control system.

  • PID(Proportional, Integral, Derivative) controller is one of the most used process controllers in nuclear power plants. The optimized parameter setting of process controller contributes to the stable operation and efficiency in the operating nuclear power plants. PID parameter setting is tuned when new process control system is established or process control system is changed. It is a burdensome work for I&C(Instrument and Control) engineers to tune the PID controller because it requires a lot of experience and knowledge. When the plant is in operation, inadequate PID parameter setting can be the cause of the unstable process of the plant. Therefore the results of PID parameter setting should be compared, simulated, verified and finally optimized. The practical PID tuning methods used in process controller are tuning operation calculation(Ziegler-Nicholes, Minimum TIAE, Lambda, IMC), exclusive tuning program based on computer and Matlab application. This paper introduces the various tuning methods and suggests an optimized PID tuning process in the operating nuclear power plants.
