The purpose of this study was to investigate middle school students’perception about Home Economics Education in order to provide the basic materials to improve Home Economics curriculum. For this purpose reviewing literatures and empirical research were conducted. the subjects were 661(fourteen-year-ole(8th graders) enrolled in middle school in Seoul and Gyeongsang-nam-do. Statistical methods adopted for data analysis were frequencies, mean standard deviation, ONEWAY ANOVA, Chi-square. Major findings were as follows: 1. The middle school students’perception about Home Economics Education differed with sex of subjects. That is, girl students’perception was higher than boy students’perception. 2. The middle school students’perception about Home Economics subject varied across parents’education level. 3. There was no significant difference in the middle school students’perception about Home Economics Education according to existence of mother’s Job. 4. There was a significant difference in the middle school students’perception about Home Economics Education according to region. That is the perception about the contents of eating life role was high in rural and the daily life as a consumer and resources application was high in Seoul. 5.The middle school students’perception about Home Economics Education varied across subject distinction. That is the perception of boy students who chose Industrial Arts$.$Home Economics subject was high.

This study was designed to examine students' utility cognition and related variables on the ‘understanding of family and work’ in the Home Economics course. The subjects were 503 middle and high school students, and university students in Jeonju city. The results are as follows : 1) The level of utility cognition on the ‘attitude of sexuality’ was found to be relatively high in the Home Economics course. 2) There were gender difference in the evaluation of learning environment. and grade differences in the evaluation of learning environment, participation in class of Home Economics, needs for Home Economics, evaluation of learning environment. 3) The utility cognition of Home Economics course significantly differed by gender, participation in class of Home Economics. needs for Home Economics, evaluation of learning environment. and Perception of Home Economics. 4) The needs for Home Economics emerged as the most important variable in the utility cognition of Home Economics course.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition of middle and high school students on the 7th technology home economics curriculum. This study was carried out to understand the difference in the level of needs. interesting on the 7th technologyㆍhome economics curriculum and application on the life to maximize the effect of technologyㆍhome economics education by the socio-demographic factors. For this purpose, survey was conducted 437 students in the middle school and high school in the Gwangju city and Jeonnam province. The survey was consists of items related with socio-demographic factors in 9 questions. The curriculum of technologyㆍhomes economic consist in the level of application and general tendency and level of needs in 47 different unites. The major findings of this study are as follows. 1. The understanding of internet application. me and family relation, nutrition of youth were showed high perception in order in the level of needs on the technology home economics curriculum. 2. The internet application, home life practice and me and family relation showed high perception in order in the level of interesting. 3. The internet application, home life practice and me and family relation showed also high perception in order that helps living life. And the understanding of architectural principles and industry and characteristics of materials showed low perception.

A Study of Factors Affecting on High School Students’Choice of ’The Science of Home-Economics’Course in the 7th National Curriculum The purpose of this study is to explore what kind of factors make high school students decide to select ‘The Science of Home Economics’as one of the course among various in-depth elective courses in high school curriculum. an empirical survey was conducted by administering a structured survey questionnaire to 463 male and female students who attend in a college-bound high school in Taegu. The major findings are as follows: 1) There were significant differences between the choice group of ‘The Science of Home Economics’and non-choice group of ‘The Science of Home Economics’in learning motivation to 5 units of ‘The Science of Home Economics’student’s perception of the traditional role and progressive role of Home Economics education impression of Home Economics teachers, mother’s academic career, academic achievement in general and mother’s request for selection of ‘The Science of Home Economics’as an elective course. 2) Significant variables which influenced students’selection of ‘The Science of Home Economics’relatively were, in descending order, student’s perception of the progressive role of home economics education. impression of Home Economics teachers. coeducational schooling. student’s learning motivation to the ‘food’unit. student’s attitude for sex-role, academic achievement in general and mother’s request for selection of ‘The Science of Home Economics’as an elective course.

The purposes of this study are to examine the middle school student's educational interest and perception of usefulness on the content of the unit of 'Understanding of Adolescents' in Technology Home Economics textbook and analyze the relationships between educational interest and perception of usefulness and factors affecting them. The sample of this study is 521 middle school students living in Seoul, Inchoon, and Kyanggi province. The data are collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed by the descriptive statistics, t-test and One-way ANOVA. The results of this study are as follows. (1) The middle school students perceive that 'Stress Management' in Technology Home Economics textbook is the content of the highest educational interest and usefulness. (2) The factors affecting the degree of educational interest on contents of Technology Home Economics textbook are sex, residence area, age of mother, education level of parents, and level of Home Economics subject matter. (3) The perception of usefulness on the contents of Technology Home Economics textbook is differed by sex, residence area, age and education level of mother, and preference level of Home Economics subject matter. (4) There are strong positive relationships between educational interest and perception of usefulness on the contents of Technology Home Economics textbook. (5) Several recommendations for teaching-learning strategies to enhance the students' educational interest and perception of usefeulness on the contents of Technology Home Economics textbooks and future studies are suggested based on the results.

The purpose of this study was to examine the school parent and student's perception of Practical Arts and Technology Home Economics and to suggest plan to school parent of multicultural and learning disability families. The subjects of this study were elementary and secondary teachers who teaching Practical Arts or Technology Home Economics. The instrument of this study was questionnaire including five sections: influence on students by Practical Arts and Technology Home Economics, interest in Practical Arts and Technology Home Economics to school parents, school support with learning ability improvement, school parents support with home in Practical Arts and Technology Home Economics, data form of school parents support with home in Practical Arts and Technology Home Economics. The findings of this study were as follows; Sociality development of students is influential by Practical Arts and Technology Home Economics. School parents and students believe important subjects in Practical Arts and Technology Home Economics. Teachers ask for support with learning ability improvement for practical training space and programs in Practical Arts and Technology Home Economics. School parents ask for support with learning ability improvement of programs of teaching learning method for home education on Practical Arts and Technology Home Economics.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in the perception of Home Economics between female and male among high school students who have learned Home Economics and who have never learned. The number of 400 samples were analyzed with frequencies, percentages, t-test, regressions and $\chi$(sup)2 analyses by SPSS/Win. The results showed that the male students who have taken Home Economics were more likely than those who have never taken perceived Home Economics as a living science and to be interested in the subject. There were sexual differences among high school students who have learned the subject in favorite units, increases in interests, satisfaction with the contents, etc. Sex and the level of participating household works were the most influential factors on the perception of the subject of high school students.

The purpose of this study is to identify environmental perception of clothing consumption behavior taking socioo-economic variables into account. An instrument, based on previous research was administered to 213 housewives in Taegu area. In analyzing the data, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, regression analysis were used. The finding of this indicated that the environmental perception of clothing consumption were significant in purchasing, managing, and disposal of clothing. Among socio-economics variables, income and educational level were found to be significant in explaining the variance of enviromental perception behavior of clothing consumption. The important results of this study are discussed and implications are provided.

The objective of this study is to underline the important role of needs for multicultural education in the formation of middle and high school students' cultural sensitivity for the sake of coping multicultural society. This study focuses on how adolescents' multicultural society recognition and education experiences shape and influence their cultural sensitivity, with the mediating role of multicultural education needs perception. A survey 303 middle school students and 236 high school students Daejeon was conducted. The results of this study as follows. First, high school students' open minded and social participation were significantly higher than those of middle school students, while the latter multicultural education experience level was higher than the former. Second, it was found that multicultural society recognition and education experiences have an indirect impact on cultural sensitivity mediating multicultural education needs perception as well as have a direct effect. However, adolescents' cultural sensitivity was shaped by mediating role of multicultural education needs perception rather than by direct effect of multicultural society recognition and education experiences. A major contribution of this research is the identification of the role of multicultural education needs perception in fostering adolescents' cultural sensitivity.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the middle school students’and their parent’s perception of the 6th Home Economics Education curriculum, their learning satisfaction, and the students’s perceived learning effect, focusing on the areas of human development and family relations. The subjects of this study were 392 middle school students, their parents and 51 Home Economics teachers in Pohang and Seoul. Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, test, F test, pearson’s product correlation coefficient, and $\chi$(sup)2 test, Schff post hoc test using the SAS computer program. The result of this study were that (1) the middle school student’s and their parent’s perception of the 6th Home Economics Education Curriculum, in general, was very positive. (2) Students, teachers and parents showed high levels of learning satisfaction with the areas of human development and family relations. (3) Student’s perceived learning effect on the areas of human development and family relations was considerably high.
