The Internet has been identified as the worlds fastest growing marketplace with seemingly limitless opportunities for marketing products and services. Logistics service quality is considered an essential strategy for success and survival in today's internet environment. Logistics excellence has become a powerful source of competitive differentiation within diverse marketing offerings of internet firms. The quality of logistics service performance is a key marketing component that helps create customer satisfaction. As the business environment has changed, the operations based definition of logistics service have evolved. The objective of this study is to examine the logistics service quality in internet shopping mall and the impact of logistics service quality on customer satisfaction. The quality factors of logistics service in this study are consist of five quality factor. The survey result is drive from a man experienced in used internet shopping mall. The finding suggest that logistics service quality of five factor had a positive effort on customer satisfaction. Specifically, timeliness had the most consistent positive effort on customer satisfaction.
The integrated supply chain of business partners for e-Commerce in cyber space is defined as Logistics Chain if the cooperative activities are logistics-related. Logistics Chain could be managed effectively and efficiently by cooperative technologies of logistics chain execution. In this paper, we propose a routing and scheduling algorithm based on the Tabu search by adding geographical information into existing constraint for pick-up and delivery process to minimize service time and cost in logistics chain. And, we also consider an uncertainty processing for the tracing of moving object to control pick-up and delivery vehicles based on GPS/GIS/ITS. Uncertainty processing is required to minimize amount of telecommunication and database on vehicles tracing. Finally, we describe the Logistics Chain Execution (LCE) system to perform plan and control activities for postal logistics chain. To evaluate practical effects of the routing and scheduling system, we perform a pretest for the performance of the tabu search algorithm. And then we compare our result with the result of the pick-up and delivery routing plan generated manually by postmen.
In logistics e-marketplaces, brokerage agents intermediate empty vehicles and freights registered by car owners and shippers. In the previous research, we proposed constant periodic/fixed matching algorithms for the logistics brokerage agents with the objective of minimizing the total transportation lead time and the transportation due date tardiness of freights(Jeong, 2004; Jeong, 2007). However, the constant type algorithms cannot consider changes in the balance status of an e-marketplace, i.e. the difference between the numbers of freights and vehicles to wait for matching, because they use non-changing matching periods and amounts. In this paper, we propose variable type algorithms for the logistics brokerage agent, in which the matching periods and amounts are changed continuously by considering the balance status between the freights and vehicles. In order to compare performance of the variable type algorithms to the previous constant type algorithms, we carried out computational experiments on various problem instances. The results show that the variable type algorithms give better performance than the constant type algorithms. We can expect that the logistics brokerage agents can improve their performance by using the proposed variable periodic/fixed matching algorithms.
To achieve a differential advantage over competitors and protect their long-term interest, shipping lines have striven to find ways to maintain an ongoing relationship with shippers which can be achieved by attaining their loyalty. The benefits of loyal shippers are potentially huge in that they generate long-term revenue streams as well as provide cost savings as compared with attracting new shippers. Logistics service provided by shipping lines is identified as one of the effective tools for building customer loyalty. However, in a review of the literature none of the studies examine how logistics service creates customer loyalty, particularly between shipping lines and shippers. Consequently, the overarching purpose of this paper is to extend knowledge on logistics service performance and its relationship with customer loyalty in the unique context of maritime transport by proposing a new conceptual model based on an extensive literature review. The major contribution is to offer a new insight into the complex relationships between those 'soft' concepts in the context of maritime transport.
The objective of this study is to empirically develop performance evaluation measures for LIS (logistics information systems) based upon BSC (balanced scorecard) model and determine the relative importance among four perspectives of BSC using AHP (analytic hierarchy process) methodology. Above all, forty nine probable measures for evaluating LIS performance were identified through reviewing the previous research related with SCM (supply chain management), logistics management, and information systems evaluation. And then, these probable measures were examined by means of coincidence analyses using three mutually exclusive criteria(validity of content, ease of measurement and reliability of measurement). Data for conducting the coincidence analyses were collected from LIS users and LIS development personnel. As the results of the coincidence analyses, it was found that 31 ones among 49 probable performance evaluation measures theoretically derived could be qualified for LIS performance evaluation. And AHP analysis showed that the weight of each perspective was respectively as follows : 46.8% for financial perspective, 31.3% for customer perspective, 14.8% for internal business process perspective, and 7.1% for learning and growth perspective. The academic contribution of this study is that performance evaluation measures for LIS could be systematically and empirically developed on the basis of BSC. Also, the results of this study are expected to be used as a practice guideline of evaluating and improving LIS.
In this paper, we present a dynamic matching methodology for the logistics brokerage agent that intermediates empty vehicles and freights registered to the logistics e-marketplace by car owners and shippers. In this matching methodology, two types of decisions should be made: one is when to match freights and vehicles and the other is how to match freights and vehicles at that time. We propose three strategies for deciding when to match, ie. real time matching (RTM) , periodic matching (PM), and fixed matching (FM) and use Hungarian method for solving the how-to-match problem. In order to compare the performance of the when-to-match strategies, computational experiments are done and the results show that the waiting-and-matching strategies, PM and FM, give better performance than real time matching strategy, RTM. We can expect that the suggested matching methodology may be used as an efficient and effective tool for the brokerage agent in the logistics e-marketplaces.
The ILOF project addresses the needs of logistics industrial organizations to reduce information processing time, improve added and residual value of information and reduce processing and transportation costs. It deals with the information supply chain information systems shared by vertical partner as important entity, whose performance and optimization very significantly affects the efficiency and performance of logistics industries. This paper deals with logistics information exchange systems based on supply chain management, focusing on sharing database and processes between partners such as shipper, logistics broker, transportation company, shipping company etc., for smoothing the information flow, enhancing consumer service and reducing communication fee and labour costs. The significance of contribution of this research is the provision of a model for logistics information exchange including entity relationship diagram, data flow diagram and functions which is able to facilitate the formulation of a customer driven supply chain information network, there by enhancing the competitive edge of companies in logistics industries on local and global basis.

It It is not easy to reduce the operation costs at a time when it is hard to expect increase sales due to growing economic uncertainties. For logistics centers, which need to keeps their competitive advantage in the market by raising service levels at low cost, it is essential to drastically improve service levels at low cost. This study suggests that KPI (Key Performance Indicator) analysis should determine whether efficient logistics operation is being performed for the entire process of the logistics operation system. And also we suggests that each item should be set up, measured, and improved so that customer satisfaction can be increased based on performance indicators.
This paper analyses the results of a survey questionnaire which is made for logistics service providers in Shanghai, China. Based on 177 valid providers' responses, the study results show that the logistics industry of China consists mainly of small and medium-sized companies. Furthermore, most of the logistics companies are highly capable of providing traditional logistics services and lack of the capability to provide other value-added logistics services. Their self-assessments indicate that they generally perform well in different types of performance measures. This study indicates that the market for 3PL services in China has a reasonable potential for further development, though 3PL practices are still at a nascent stage in China. This paper presents full details and implications of the results of the survey and then tries to provide some helpful suggestion for the development of Chinese logistics companies.

South Korea has allowed parallel importation since 1995. Parallel importation causes competition among importers in the logistics process allowing, consumers to purchase foreign brand products at low prices. Most parallel importers base product pricing on subjective judgements. Fashion products in particular, have different sales rates depending on trends and seasons, so sales performance varies greatly depending on selling price timing and policy. The merchandiser (MD) set the price on parallel importation products by aggregating information on imported products and pricing goods. However, this customized process is very time consuming for the MD. This is because the logistics process of parallel importation's customs clearance procedures and repair works is complicated and takes a significant amount of time. In this paper, we propose an improved parallel importation logistics process based on big data, which automatically sets the price of parallel importation products.
