  • 현재까지 DVFS(Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling)를 효율적으로 사용하여 프로세서의 소모전력을 줄이는 것을 목표로 하는 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그 중에서 GPHT(Global Phase History Table)는 워크로드를 예측하여 최적의 DVFS를 설정하는 연구이다. 이 연구는 Last Value기법 보다 예측 적중률을 향상시켰지만 연속적인 워크로드 상황에서는 예측 적중률이 저하되는 한계점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문은 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 Run-Length Encoding기법을 도입한 새로운 GPHT모델을 소개하며, 시뮬레이션 결과 GPHT 대비 적중률을 최대 8.98%, 평균 3.28% 향상 시켰다.

Metabolic Characterization of the Corynebacterium glutamicum using DNA Microarray Technology

  • DNA microarray with a set of 37 Corynebacterium glutamicum genes encoding enzymes for primary metabolism of glycolysis, TCA cycle and lysine biosynthesis, anaplerosis etc was constructed on slide glass in triplicate. With this DNA microarray, metabolic characteristics of the lysine-producing strain was analyzed during different phase of the cultivation. The major differences in using glucose as a carbon source instead of sucrose was found in the anaplerolytic enzymes, which control the interconversion of C3 and C4 metabolites. Also, the expression profile of these major enzymes was found to be quite distinct among different phases of growth.

  • In abdominal NMR imaging the respiratory ordering techniques have been successfully used to remove the ghosting artifacts arising from the respiratory motion. In the existing respiratory ordering schemes, however, it is generally accepted that blurring of the moving parts still remains as in the signal averaging technique. A new optimal respiratory ordering scheme which can correct the blurring as well as the ghosting artifacts is theoretically derived through the analysis of the phase encoding directional motion effects in Fourier imaging. The performance of the optimal respiratory ordering scheme is experimentally confirmed together with a suboptimal ordering scheme which is suggested as a compromise for the practicality.

Cancellation of MRI Motion Artifact in Image Plane (촬상단면내의 MRI 체동 아티팩트의 제거)

  • In this work, a new algorithm for canceling MRI artifact in the image plane is presented. In the conventional approach, the motions in the X(readout) direction and Y(the phase encoding) direction are estimated simultaneously. However, the feature of each X and Y directional motion is different. First, we notice that the X directional motion corresponds to a shift of the X directional spectrum of the MRI signal, and the non zero area of the spectrum just corresponds to X axis projected area of the density function. So the motion is estimated by tracing the edges of the spectrum, and the X directional motion is canceled by shifting the spectrum in inverse direction. Next, the Y directional motion is canceled using a new constraint, with which the motion component and the true image component can be separated. This algorithm is shown to be effective by simulations.

  • In this study, a new algorithm for canceling MRI artifacts through the translational motion of image plane is presented. Bloating is often makes problems in a clinical diagnosis. Assuming that the head moves up and down due to breathing, rigid translational motions in only y(phase encoding axis) direction is treated.   • In this paper, we propose a DRM(Digital Rights Management) system for streaming media which can not only protect streamed MPEG-4 content but be easily integrated with existing MPEG-4 streaming system. To protect MPEG-4 media more effectively and more securely, encryption should be considered on encoding phase and also streaming server should be designed to support DRM. However that means it cannot support existing streaming system. Our approach is to design a DRM system independent to the streaming server. So, we used an encryption method which can be applied to compressed MPEG-4. The processing time of decryption in client system must be minimized to guarantee the QoS of streaming service. To satisfy this requirement, it is essential to analyze the effect of DRM on performance. We made some performance test and present the result. Also, we apply proposed system to ISMA(The Inter net Streaming Media Alliance) streaming system which is open standard for MPEG-4 media streaming.

  • 임상진단에 있어서 종종 문제가 되고 있는 호흡에 따른 두뇌부분의 가상적인 상하이동을 고려해서 위상 엔코드 축인 Y 방향만의 강체의 평행이동을 취급한다. 종래의 발견적인 축차 근사 반복처리에 의한 제거방법과는 달리, 본 연구에서는 MRI 촬상과정과 화성특성의 해석에 근거한 MRI 신호증의 체동성분과 화상성분을 단순한 대수연산에 의해 분리할 수 있는 새로운 구속조건을 도출한다. MRI 신호에 대해서 X방향의 1차원 푸리에 변환을 행한 후의 Y 방향의 스펙트럼 위상값은 화상자신의 성분과 체동성분의 합이 되고 있다. 한편, 두뇌부위 등의 단상층에 있어서 주위의 피하지방 부위의 밀도는 거의 균일한 것으로 알려져 있어 이 부분위의 Y 방향의 1 라인 밀도 분포를 대칭이라고 간주할 수 있다. 밀도함수가 대칭인 경우 스펙트럼의 위상은 그 위치에 대하여 선형적으로 변화하며 이 선형함수로부터 벗어난 성분을 체동성분으로 분리할 수 있다. 이러한 구속조건에 기초를 둔 근거가 명확한 아티팩트의 제거방법을 제안한다.

Long Double-stranded RNA Induces Sequence-specific RNA Interference and Type I Interferon Responses in Rock Bream (Oplegnathus fasciatus)

  • To determine whether long double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) induces RNA interference and type I interferon (IFN) responses in fish, long dsRNAs encoding enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP), GFPuv, and polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid sequences were co-injected with an EGFP expressing plasmid, into rock bream (Oplegnathus fasciatus). We investigated the EGFP mRNA and protein levels, and the transcriptional responses of dsRNA-dependent protein kinase and Mx1 genes. Long dsRNAs were strong inducers of a type I IFN response in rock bream, resulting in nonspecific suppression of exogenous gene expression. Furthermore, sequence-specific knockdown of exogenous gene expression at the mRNA level was detected at an early phase (24 h). These results suggested that long dsRNA may inhibit exogenous gene expression through an early mRNA interference response and a later type I IFN response in fish.

  • Glycinin and $\beta$-conglycinin are the most abundant storage protein in soybean. These proteins are known to be synthesized predominantly during germination and cell expansion phase of seed development for short period, and synthesized not in other tissues. Genes encoding these storage proteins are useful system to study the mechanism of development stage and tissue specific gene expression in eukaryotes, especially plants, at the molecular level. The cDNA and genomic clones coding for glycinin have been isolated and regulation mechanism of the gene expression has been studied. Initially, development and tissue-specific expression of the glycinin gene is regulated at the level of transcription. Post-transcriptional processing is also responsible for delayed accumulation of the mRNA. Translational control of the storage protein gene has not been reported. Post-translational modification is another strategic point to regulate the expression of the gene. It is possible to identify positive and/or negative reguratory clements in vivo by producing transgenic plants agter gene manipulation. Elucidation of activation and repression mechanism of soybean storage protein genes will contribute to the understanding of the other plant and eukaryotic genes at molecular level.

Cloning and Regulation of Schizosaccharomyces pombe Gene Encoding Ribosomal Protein S20

  • A cDNA clone encoding the ribosomal protein S20 has been isolated from the Schizosaccharomyces pombe cDNA library by colony hybridization. The insert contained in the original plasmid pYJ10 was transferred intro shuttle vector pRS316 generate plasmid pYJll. The dDNA insert of plasmid pYJll, contains 484 nucleotides and encodes a protein of 118 amino acids with a calculated mass of 13,544 daltons. The deduced amino acid sequence of S. pombe ribosomal protein S20 is very homologous with fruit fly, rat, and budding yeast counterparts. It is also homologous with Xenopus S22 ribosomal protein. S. pombe ribosomal protein S20 appears to be relatively hydruphobic except the C-terminal region. The 728 bp upstream region of the S20 gene was amplified from chromosomal DNA and transferred into the BamHI/EcoRI site of the promoterles $\beta$-galactosidase gene of the vector YEp357R, which resulted in fusion plasmid pYS20. The synthesis of $\beta$-galactosidase from the fusion plasmid appeared to be the highest in the mid-exponential phase. The S. pombe cells with the fusion plasmid grown at 35$\^{C}$ gave lower $\beta$-galactosidase activity than the cells grown at 30$\^{C}$. Computer analysis showed the consensus sequence CAGTCACA in the upstream regions of various ribosomal protein genes in S. pombe, which would be involved in the coordinated expression of small ribosomal proteins.
