Study on the Decomposition of Some Volatile Organic Compounds by Photocatalyst Plasma Reaction (광촉매 플라즈마 반응에 의한 몇가지 VOCs의 제거에 관한 연구)

  • A new type of photocatalyst plasma air purification filter for decomposition of some VOCs has been developed. The photocatalyst plasma air purification filter employs the pulsed discharge plasma as an energy source of TiO2. photocatalyst instead of UV light. In closed room(2m3) test removal efficiency of some VOCs was 80∼100% in 15∼24 hours. In the initial step of phptocatalyst plasma reaction. Acetone and Nitromethane etc were detected. But they were completely oxidized to CO2 and H2O.

  • Solar energy conversion is now actively researching because of pollution. Especially silicon photocatalyst has big potential, because of wide absorption range. But low quantum yield of silicon photocatalyst can't be used for commercialization. This paper summarize mechanism of silicon photocatalyst. In addition, properties and current states of photo catalyst using nanomaterials of silicon are also introduced.

The characteristics of Mn-TiO2 catalyst for visible-light photocatalyst (Mn-TiO2 촉매의 가시광촉매 특성)

  • The catalyst works for visible-light region was characterized. Toluene, xylene, MEK and ammonia were used as reactants. The decomposition efficiency was compared between visible-light photocatalyst and UV-light one. UV-photocatalyst can be activated with UV-light wave length of 280~360 nm. However, visible-light photocatalyst can be activated with visible wave length of 400~750 nm. This result was found by using UV-Vis absorbance. A lot of materials were doped to visible light photocatalyst in order to increase its performance. Platinum was added to visible light photocatalyst with manganese in order to increase performance of the visible light photocatalyst. MTMS (Methyl tri methoxy silane) was used as a binder. Contact angle was analyzed varying with amount of binder. Contact angle was increased with increasing the amount of MTMS. As a result, the hydrophilic property of photocatalyst with MTMS binder was decreased due to its hydrophobic one. And Mn-$TiO_2$ catalyst had an excellent anti-bacterial property.

Research on the Efficient Manufacturing Method of Photocatalyst Concrete according to the Type and Mixing Ratio of Photocatalyst (광촉매 종류 및 혼입률에 따른 효율적 광촉매 콘크리트의 제조 방법에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we evaluated the mechanical properties and nitrogen oxides removal characteristics according to the type and incorporation rate of the photocatalyst and investigated the method of separated placement for the production of economical and efficient photocatalyst concrete. As a result, when the photocatalyst incorporation rate was 5%, the highest compressive strength and elastic modulus were measured. As a result of evaluating the nitrogen oxides removal performance by the photocatalytic reaction, as the photocatalyst incorporation rate increased, the nitrogen oxide removal rate increased. At this time, the nitrogen oxides removal performance of photocatalyst P-25 was better than the NP-A. In consideration of economic efficiency, we have provided a method of separated placement for casting a constant thickness of concrete surface with photocatalyst concrete and evaluated the integrated performance at this time. As a result, it appears to be equal to or higher than mechanical performance and durability performance as compared with Plain, and it is judged that the integrated behavior is satisfied.

ADDITIVE CATALYSTS FOR AN AUTOMOTIVE PHOTOCATALYST SYSTEM

  • As a promising catalyst reducing cold start emissions of automobiles, a photocatalyst systems has been studied. Since the photocatalyst is only activated by UV wavelength light, it needs no heat energy like a conventional TWC, therefore no light-off time. However, as a cold temperature catalyst to treat cold start emissions of a vehicle, previous studies on characteristic of photocatalyst have room for improvement in terms of performance and durability investigated from the viewpoints of performance and durability improvement. Eleven different coating samples were prepared with the combination of six kinds of additives and two kinds of photocatalyst materials. Then these samples were aged with a hydrothermal aging process. The performance of these samples was measured on a model gas apparatus with simulated exhaust gases. The durability was also analyzed with X-ray diffraction meter.
