Laminate composites composed of $0.95Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3-0.05Pb(Mn_{1/3}Sb_{2/3})O_3$ piezoelectric ceramic and Fe-Si-B based magnetostrictive amorphous alloy are fabricated, and the effect of control of the areal dimensions and the thickness of the piezoelectric layer on the magnetoelectric(ME) properties of the laminate composites is studied. As the aspect ratio of the piezoelectric layer and the magnetostrictive layer increases, the maximum value of the ME voltage coefficient(${\alpha}_{ME}$) increases and the intensity of the DC magnetic field at which the maximum ${\alpha}_{ME}$ value appears decreases. Moreover, as the thickness of the piezoelectric layer decreases, ${\alpha}_{ME}$ tends to increase. The ME composites exhibit ${\alpha}_{ME}$ values higher than $1Vcm^{-1}Oe^{-1}$ even at the non-resonance frequency of 1 kHz. This study shows that, apart from the inherent characteristics of the piezoelectric composition, small thicknesses and high aspect ratios of the piezoelectric layer are important dimensional determinants for achieving high ME performance of the piezoelectric-magnetostrictive laminate composite.
Finite element analyses are carried out to understand the piezoelectric behaviors of ZnO nanowires. Three different types of ZnO nanowires, with aspect ratios of 1:2. 1:31, and 1:57, are analyzed for uniaxial compression, pure bending, and buckling. Under the uniaxial compression with a strain of $1.0{\times}10^{-4}$ as the reference state, it is predicted that all three types of nanowires develop the same magnitude of the piezoelectric fields, which suggests that longer nanowires exhibit higher piezoelectric potential. However, this prediction is not in agreement with the experimental results previously reported in the literature. Such discrepancy is understood when the piezoelectric behaviors under bending and buckling are considered. When only the strain field due to bending is present in bending or buckling, the antisymmetric nature of the through-thickness stain distribution indicates that two piezoelectric fields, the same in magnitude and opposite in sign, develop along the thickness direction, which cancels each other out, resulting in a zero net piezoelectric field. Once additional strain contribution due to axial deformation is superposed on the bending, such field cancelling is compensated for due to the axial component of the piezoelectric field. Such numerical predictions seem to explain the reported experimental results while providing a guideline for the design of nanowire-based piezoelectric devices.

A newly proposed T-shape piezoelectric actuator, composed of piezoelectric benders, was designed and studied. This actuator has four legs, and can walk in both forward and backward directions. The piezoelectric actuator has a simple structure and can be easily fabricated. It consists of a piezoelectric bender and a joint. The piezoelectric bender is composed of carbon and ceramic materials. Therefore, there is an advantage in that it can be fabricated on a very small scale. Elliptical displacements of the piezoelectric actuators were analyzed by finite element analysis. Elliptical motion at the tip occurred at two voltages having a 90-degree phase difference. Based on the finite element analysis results, prototype actuators with maximum displacements were fabricated, and the characteristics of their movements were characterized.
A flexible piezoelectric energy harvester(f-PEH) that converts tiny mechanical and vibrational energy resources into electric signals without any restraints is drawing attention as a self-powered source to operate flexible electronic systems. In particular, the nanocomposites-based f-PEHs fabricated by a simple and low-cost spin-coating method show a mechanically stable and high output performance compared to only piezoelectric polymers or perovskite thin films. Here, the non-piezoelectric polymer matrix of the nanocomposite-based f-PEH is replaced by a P(VDF-TrFE) piezoelectric polymer to improve the output performance generated from the f-PEH. The piezoelectric hybrid nanocomposite is produced by distributing the perovskite PZT nanoparticles inside the piezoelectric elastomer; subsequently, the piezoelectric hybrid material is spin-coated onto a thin metal substrate to achieve a nanocomposite-based f-PEH. A fabricated energy device after a two-step poling process shows a maximum output voltage of 9.4 V and a current of 160 nA under repeated mechanical bending. Finite element analysis(FEA) simulation results support the experimental results.

In this study, the method of the finite element modeling for free vibration control of beam-type smart structures with bonded plate-type piezoelectric sensors and actuators is proposed. Constitutive equations for the direct piezoelectric effect and converse piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric materials are considered. By using the variational principle, the equations of motion for the smart beam finite element are derived. The proposed 2-node beam finite element is an isoparametric element based on Timoshenko beam theory. Therefore, by analyzing beam-type smart structures with smart beam finite elements, it is possible to simulate the control of the structural behavior by applying voltages to piezoelectric actuators and monitoring of the structural behavior by sensing voltages of piezoelectric sensors. By using the smart beam finite element and constant-gain feed back control scheme, the formulation of the free nitration control for the beam structures with bonded plate-tyPe Piezoelectric sensors and actuators is proposed.
Recently, piezoelectric transformer is applied to wide fields. Multi layer piezoelectric transformer has the advantage of high step up ratio, electromechanical coupling coefficient(Kp) and mechanical quality factor(Qm), but is indicated of peeling-phenomenon of electrode, rising sintering temperature made price of costly electrode. So in this study, it discuss on method for fabrication of rosen type piezoelectric transformers. For the fabrication as rosen type piezoelectric transformers, synthesized the powder using 0.01Pb$(ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ - 0.08Pb$(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ - 0.91Pb$(Zr_{0506}Ti_{0496})O_3$ (abbreviated as PNN-PMN-PZT) ceramics. The density, microstructure, dielectric and piezoelectric properties as a function of sintering temperature were investigated. The results indicated that the optimized properties of ceramics were obtained at sintering temperature of 1200$^{\circ}C$, showed the value of $d_{33}$=273pC/N, $K_p$=0.60 $Q_m$=1585, ${\varepsilon}_r$=1454, density=7.917$g/cm^3$ and $tan{\delta}$=0.0064.

In this study, an analysis was conducted to analyze the structural stability of the piezoelectric power generation module and to determine the optimal burying hole interval for concrete, the installation site of the power generation module. A piezoelectric element refers to a functional ceramic having a piezoelectric direct effect that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy and a piezoelectric reverse effect. In the analysis of the piezoelectric power generation module, the load condition was applied with about 16 tons and a total of 10 wheels in consideration of the container trailer. The purpose was to evaluate the stability of major components of the piezoelectric power generation module through finite element analysis. In order to determine the optimal burying location of the concrete ground for burying the piezoelectric power generation module, the stability of the ground structure according to the distance of the holes was determined. As a result of the analysis, the maximum stress of the piezoelectric power generation module was generated in the support spring, showing a stress of about 276.7 MPa. It was found that the spacing of holes for embedding the piezoelectric power generation module should be set to a minimum of 100 mm or more.

This paper presents the numerical analysis of piezoelectric devices using three-dimensional finite element analysis. The characteristic of piezoelectric transducer, such as mechanical displacement and electrical are analyzed and the validity is confirmed by experiments Applying the finite element routine to a piezoelectric transformer, the resonance features electrical impedance. the ratio of step-up voltage and vibration mode of piezoelectric transformer are calculated numerically By using three-dimensional finite element method effects of width variation to resonance features, electrical input impedance and the voltage step-up ratio for a piezoelectric transformer, can be considered in design procedure.
We developed micro power generation system using piezoelectric materials. In our system, the ambient vibrating energy is converting to electric energy by deflection of piezoelectric beams. The system consists of energy generating parts, converting enhancement parts, electric regulation and charging parts, and interface with small-energy-consuming mobile devices. The geometry of piezoelectric beams, the source of vibrating energy, and the electric load of target application determine the characteristics of generating electric power, such as impedance, voltage, current and power density. Therefore, we made a model for analysis of generating power with given information such as piezoelectric materials, geometry, vibration type, and mass. With this model, we can calculate capacitance of piezoelectric beams, generating voltage, current, and power. To obtain maximum energy transfer efficiency, we approached this study in the view of material, electrical, and mechanical engineering
Piezoelectric composites of O-3 connectivity were prepared by thermosetting barium titanate-phenolic resin composite under various cruing pressure. Among three kinds of pore in O-3 type ceramic-polymer composite, such as matrix pores, particle pores, and ceramic-polymer interface pores, the effect of interface porosity on the dielectric and piezoelectric constant was investigated. In pure barium titanate ceramics, the porosity factor of dielectric and piezoelectric constants were 5.7 and 5.0, respectively. However, in BaTiO3-polymer composite, the interface porosity factor of the piezoelectric constant was greater than that of the dielectric constant, interface porosity factor b in d33 was 9.8 and in r 4.6. On the other, piezoelectric voltage constant g33 was independent of the porosity of barium titanate ceramics. But in composite system, the piezoelectric voltage constant g33 was decreased with interface porosity.
