A Study on Factors for Influence SW Development Productivity on The IT Service Company (IT Service기업의 Software개발 생산성 영향 요인에 관한 실증 연구 : SW개발 방법론 중심으로)

  • This paper has explored when implementing SW development project of the IT service corporations, what factors affect its productivity in SW development methodology. The importance of the AHP analysis surveyed from the experts in IT service companies and related committee, was shown in the order of the following processes : 1) Deployment process 2) Management process 3) Establishment process. It is measured the methodology levels of establishment, deployment and management in each project using the survey results collected from project execution members and analyzed the productivity of projects that have been executed within 2 years. Using project methodology level, productivity correlation analysis, and regression analysis, this study confirms that the methodology deployment level brings positive effects significantly to SW development productivity. The significance of this study would be not only to research and analyze SW development productivity using the real project execution data but also to underline the necessities and the importance of steady research, deployment and support for SW development productivity improvement.

  • This paper explores the relationship between technological characteristics within process innovation and selection of the firms of different organizational forms in the evolution of an industry. For this purpose, this paper develops a simulation model for industrial change that replicates dynamic competition for process innovation. The simulation analysis found the following causal relationship. First, the stronger innovation impact in terms of productivity jump tends to enlarge the productivity difference among the incumbent firms and increase the speed of productivity catch-up by the large diversified firms, Second, the possibility of entry, and eventual dominance by the large diversified firms increase when the innovation-productivity linkage is stronger and there is less cumulativeness in productivity determination. These results imply that technological characteristics are important factors that have influence on whether or not the large diversified firms can enter and succeed in an industry.

  • This study presents the results of our analysis and recommendations for process and productivity improvements. The project studied consists of a 5-story research building, with a structure of steel frames supporting concrete slabs. The observations focused on the analysis of the overall erection and framing process. The methods used for the analysis consisted in intensive visits on site, where construction processes were observed in term of resources, activities, durations, materials' handling procedures, and technology used. Back to the office, authors used the information captured to model the different trades' activities, using work sampling and 5-minute rating technique. The work sampling provides insight into the activity, hence allowing for process improvements. The productivity of various trades is strongly dependent on the organization of the work process and work site conditions. Improving the productivity of the entire project or company is not possible until everyone is committed to improvement.

  • Process management of reinforced concrete construction that many labor quantity and cost is put at a construction site is very important and gives a lot of influence on the subsequent process.   • Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is a potential decision making method in management that can be used in project management as well. Lack of productivity is perhaps the number one problem confronting in the construction industry. There are numerous factors which affect the productivity of a construction project, so it is necessary to find out the critical factors giving birth to productivity. In this paper, construction productivity is taken as example for the demonstration of the AHP application to find out the critical productivity factor in which the Level 1 is taken as selection of critical productivity factor, Level 2 as construction parties and Level 3 as productivity factors group. The outcome of this study is beneficial to the entire constructional professionals for applying the AHP.

  • In manufacturing, process automation and parameter optimization are required in order to improve productivity. Especially in welding process, productivity and weldablity should be considered to determine the process parameter. In this paper, optimization methodology was proposed to determine the welding conditions using the objective function in terms of productivity and weldablity. In order to conduct this, welding experiments were carried out. Tensile test was performed to evaluate the weldability. Neural network model to estimate tensile strength using the laser power, welding speed, and wire feed rate was developed. Objective function was defined using the normalized tensile strength which represented the weldablilty and welding speed and wire feed rate which represented the productivity. The optimal welding parameters which maximized the objective function were determined.

  • This paper considers a six sigma project for improving productivity of the brace complement center pillar. The project follows a disciplined process of fife phases: define, measure, analyze, improve, and control. A process map is used to identify process input and output variables. Eleven key process input variables are selected by using X&Y matrix and FMEA, and finally eight vital few input variables are selected from analyze phase. The optimum process conditions of the vital few input variables are jointly obtained by maximizing productivity of the brace complement center pillar using DOE and alternative selection method.

  • Constructing high buildings is a global trend, and skyscrapers for residing are also increasing. But a period of works for finish construction is different depending on a company while a period of works for frame construction of skyscrapers for residing in the country is regular when considering a difference of a method of construction, and the increase of repeated construction for high buildings and number of related process for finish construction are stressing the importance of improving productivity through construction management and plan for works. Because there are many compositive factors affecting productivity other than technical factors, we should intensively study the way of improvement and prevention preferentially through analyzing factors affecting productivity. So in this study, we present important management factors for making systematic strategy and plan for improvement of productivity by finding factors affecting productivity depending on the degree of importance unifying factors affecting productivity of plan factor(internal factor of construction process) and management factor(outer factor of construction process).

  • A datawarehouse which extracts and saves the massive analysis data is used for marketing and decision support of business. However, the datawarehouse has the problem of increasing the process time and cost as well as has a high risk of process errors because it integrates vast amount of data from distributed environments. Thus, we propose a metrics for measurement in the area of productivity, process quality and data quality. Also through the evaluation using the proposed metrics, we show that our proposal provides productivity enhancement and process improvement.

  • Recently, photovoltaic industry needs a new design of Czochralski (Cz) process for higher productivity with reasonable energy consumption as well as solar cell's efficiency. If the process uses the large size reactor for increasing productivity, it is possible to produce a 12-inch, rather than the 8-inch. Also the continuous czochralski process method can be maximized to increase productivity. In this study, it was designed to improve the yield value of ingot with optimal condition which reduce consumption of electrical power. It has increased the productivity of the 12-inch ingot process condition by using CFD simulation. I have found optimal growth rate, by comparing each growth rate the interface shape, Temperature gradient, power consumption. As a result, the optimal process parameters of the growth furnace has been derived to improve for the productivity and to reduce energy. This study will contribute to the improvement of the productivity in the solar cell industry.
