  • Success in new product development is vital to most industrial firms. In recent decades, a firm's new product strategy is incresinglyrecognized as an essential component of the total corporate plan in developing countries. In this research, 81 Korean manufacturing firms are examined to identify the relationships between a firm's product innovation stratege and the performance results with special emphasis on firm size in a developing country. First, a total of 8 strategy dimensions were identified, which constitute the specific elements of firm's innovation strategies. Two independent dimensions of performance were also identified and were found to be closely linked to the strategy adopted. Then, a categorization scheme is developed to distinguish firms according to their size, and proves useful in performance results might be altered for different company size. The findings generally suggest that a well-balanced new product program emphasizing both marketing and technological effort appropriately is needed to make the program successful. The different size of the company is found to call for somewhat different strategy dimensions to enhance the performance results.

  • Purpose - To meet the needs of various customers in an uncertain market environment, many companies use product modularization strategies. Modularization of a product means that one product consists of several components and that the type of product can be changed according to the combination of components. The greatest feature of modularity is that changes in one component do not significantly affect the physical changes in the other component to which they are connected. Modularization of products is recognized as a very important strategy to reflect increasingly complicated customer requirements to products and respond to the needs of various markets. Many studies have been made in connection with the concept of mass customer satisfaction. There are many prior studies that modularization of such products positively affects the operational performance (manufacturing cost, fast delivery, etc.) and innovation of the product. However, excessive modularization has been found to have a negative effect on this performance. However, there are very few studies on the nonlinear relationship between product modularization and customer satisfaction. Supplementing these academically insufficient parts is very necessary when considering the current market environment. Research design, data, and methodology - In order to make up for the shortcomings of academic research in Korea, this study collects data through questionnaires in electronic, auto, and defense industry. This is because these industries are using modularity of products. based on lots of previous studies and information overload theory, we made two hypothesis and verify with empirical analysis. All 108 data were used. We used the R program and SPSS program for statistical verification. Results - As a result of the study, modularization of products showed positive relationship with customer satisfaction to a certain level. However, it has been found that when the modularization is over and beyond a certain level, there is a negative relationship with customer satisfaction. Conclusions - Excessive modularization of products can have a negative impact on customer satisfaction. This result can be understood as a result of human limited rationality due to information overload. Therefore, it is important for companies to apply appropriate modularity to product design.

The data analysis was processed by SPSS. The data was analysed with $x^2$-test, t-test, pearson product moment correlation, and stepwise regression analysis. The finding of this study is as follows: There are the homogeneity between two groups was verified on the know ledges CF=.697, df=2, P>.05), self-efficacy(F=.098, df=2, P>.05) about the posture. The developed posture correction program has proved to enhance the posture maintenance performance(knowledge t=1.60, P<.05 ; posture manintenance t=7.69, P<.01). The type of posture correction program showed some significant differences (t=5.62, P<.01) in the accuracy of movement way among the factors of the posture maintenance performance. The posture maintenance performance affected self-efficacy. Therefore, the major conclusion is as follows: The posture correction program was meaningfully effective on developing the posture maintenance, and with practice created accuracy much more on the posture maintenance movement way. The development of the posture maintenance performance affected the increase of self-efficacy about the posture. The self-efficacy has proved so powerful factor to influence on the posture maintenance performance development. So, the posture correction program should be done systematically and continually, and developing the posture maintenance performance should be done with practice. After the education, it should be reinforced through practice, midterm identification and reeducation and motivated with recognizing the accurate posture measurement. And it should be created the correction program to develop the high self-efficacy about the posture. It needs the strategy to educate the correct posture individually, and to spread to the society for healthy life style.

  • An analysis has been made on the performance variation due to pressure drop change at propellant supply pipes of liquid rocket engine. The objective is to compare the effectiveness of control variables to tune the liquid rocket engine performance. The mode analysis program has been used to estimate the engine performance for different modes which is realized by controlling the flow rate of propellant. The oxidizer of combustion chamber, the fuel of combustion chamber, the oxidizer of gas generator and the fuel of gas generator are the independent variables to control engine thrust, engine mixture ratio and temperature of gas generator product gas. The analysis program is validated by comparing with the powerpack test results. The error range of compared variables is order of 4%. After comparison of tuning effectiveness it is turned out that the pressure drop at oxidizer pipe of gas generator and pressure drop at combustion chamber fuel pipe and the pressure drop at the fuel pipe of gas generator can effectively tune the thrust of engine, mixture ratio of engine and temperature of product gas from gas generator respectively.

  • Over the last few years Total Quality Management (TQM) programs have hem widely adapted by Korean manufacturing firms to improve their productivity, competitive edge and product quality levels. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the level of importance placed on four key TQM factors (customer satisfaction, strong management leadership, continuous improvement, imployee involvement and participation) used during the implementation of korean manufacturing TQM programs and to assess the effectiveness of those key factors in improving the performance of the firms. A Questionaire was developed and sent to senior managers in manufacturing organizations throughout korea. This survey asked qustions regarding 1) the firm's business environment and TQM program development 2) subcomponents of the key factors and 3) the effectiveness of the TQM program at improving the performance of the organization. The survey data were analyzed to determine the degree of correlation between each of the factors and the effectiveness of the TQM programs. This study demonstrated that the TQM programs were instrumental at improving the performance of the firms studied, and that the improvement was positively correlated with the length of time that the program had been implemented and the planned duration of the TQM program implementation. It was found that the person-oriented elements of management leadership and employee involvement were positively correlated and predictive of the success of the TQM Program, while the process-oriented components of customer satisfaction and employee involvement were not useful predictors of the effectiveness of the TQM program implementation.
