This study intends to apply the mathematical method of fractional order differentiation to a controller that controls the response of the system. Therefore, we design integrator for the fractional index by converting it into discrete time to construct a controller. The IP controller composes an integral controller for errors and the proportional controller applies only the system output. The controller is designed by using the fractional order integrator to the integral controller of the IP controller. First, the performance of the PI controller and the IP controller is compared, and the designed controller is applied to the speed control of the motor. As a result, the motor output speed was uniformed and precise control performance could be obtained. It was confirmed that the speed error in the steady state is within 0.1 [%], and it has precise and uniform speed control performance without overshoot.
This paper addresses the output control of a utility-connected double-fed induction machine (DFIM) for wind power generation systems (WPGS). DFIM has a back-to-back converter to control outputs of DFIM driven by the wind turbine for WPGS. To supply commercially the power of WPGS to the grid without any problems related to power quality, the real and reactive powers (PQ) at the stator side of DFIM are strictly controlled at the required level, which in this paper is realized with the Fuzzy PI controller based on the field orientation control. For the Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) converter connected to the rotor side of DFIG to maintain the controllability of PQ at the state side of DFIM, the DC voltage of the DC link capacitor is also controlled at a certain level with the conventional Proportion-Integral (PI) controller of the real power. In addition, the power quality at the grid connected to the rotor side of DFIM through the back-to-back converter is maintained in a certain level with a PI controller of the reactive power. The controllers for the PQ at the stator side of DFIM, the DC link voltage of the back-to-back inverter and the reactive power at the grid connected to the rotor side of DFIM are designed and simulated in the PSIM program, of which the result verifies the performance of the proposed controllers.

Solid propulsion systems have simple structures compared to other propulsion systems and are suitable to long-term storage. However the systems generally have limits on control of thrust levels. In this paper we suggest control algorithms for combustion chamber pressure of variable thrust solid propulsion systems using special nozzles such as pintle valve. For this we use a simple pressure change model by considering only mass conservation within the combustion chamber, design a classical algorithm and also a nonlinear controller using feedback linearization technique. Derived thrust equation and designe a thrust control model. We design the proportion-integral controller for linearizing about operating point. We also demonstrate the performance of controller model through numerical simulations.
Objectifying claims filed during the warranty period, analyzing the current circumstances and improving on the problem in question is an activity worth doing that could reduce the likelihood of claims to occur, cut down on the costs, and enhance the corporate image of the manufacturer. Existing analyses of claims are confronted with two problems. First, you can't precisely assess the risks of claims involved by means of the value of claims per 100 products alone. Second, even in a normal state, the existing approach fails to capture the probabilistic conflicts that escape the upper control limit of claims, thus leading to wrong control activities. To solve the first problem, this paper proposed that a time series detection concept where the claim rate is monitored based on the date when problems are processed and a hazard function for expression of the claim rate be utilized. For the second problem, this paper designed a model whereby to define a normal state by making use of PID (Proportion, Integral, Differential) and infer by way of a fuzzy concept. This paper confirmed the validity and applicability of the proposed approach by applying methods suggested in the actual past data of warranty claims of a large-scaled automotive firm, unlike hypothetical simulation data, in order to apply them directly in industrial job sites, as well as making theoretical suggestions for analysis of claims.

This paper suggests a design method of an improved phase control loop for tracking resonant frequency of solid type precision resonant gyroscope. In general, a low cost MEMS gyroscope adapts the automatic gain control loops by taking a velocity feedback configuration. This control technique for controlling the resonance amplitude shows a stable performance. But in terms of resonant frequency tracking, this technique shows an unreliable performance due to phase errors because the AGC method cannot provide an active phase control capability. For the resonance control loop design of a solid type precision resonant gyroscope, this paper presents a phase domain control loop based on linear PLL (Phase Locked Loop). In particular, phase control loop is exploited using a higher order PLL loop filter by extending the first order active PI (Proportion-Integral) filter. For the verification of the proposed loop design, a hemispherical resonant gyroscope is considered. Numerical simulation result demonstrates that the control loop shows a robust performance against initial resonant frequency gap between resonator and voltage control oscillator. Also it is verified that the designed loop achieves a stable oscillation even under the initial frequency gap condition of about 25 Hz, which amounts to about 1% of the natural frequency of a conventional resonant gyroscope.
A laboratory jar fermenter was modified to measure the duration for cooling water supply and the temperatures of the coolant at the inlet and outlet of water jacket. Successful operation of temperature control and on-line measurement was achieved by adjusting optimum parameters of the Proportion-Integral-Derivative temperature controller. The variables measured on-line were used to estimate cooling rates from empirical equations comprised of the time period of cooling water supply and the temperatures of coolant. The measured cooling rate showed a good correlation to the specific growth rate during batch cultivation of E. coli. Cooling rate was measured and applied to programmed cell growth in a fed-batch cultivations. Three fed-batch cultivations were demonstrated by feeding substrate to follow the programmed cooling rates increasing exponentially.

In this paper, we proposed a new PID tuning algorithm by the fuzzy set theory to improve the performance of the PID controller. The new tuning algorithm for the PID controller has the initial value of parameter Kc, $\tau$I, $\tau$D by the Ziegler-Nichols formula using the ultimate gain and ultimate period from a relay tuning experiment. We get error and error change of plant output correspond to the initial value and new proportion gain(Kc) and integral time($\tau$I) from fuzzy tunner. This fuzzy tuning algorithm for PID controller considerably reduced overshoot and rise time compare to any other PID controller tuning algorithms. In real parametric uncertainty systems, the PID controller with Fuzzy auto-tuning give appreciable improvement in the performance. The significant properties of this algorithm is shown by simulation In this paper, we proposed a new PID algorithm by the fuzzy set theory to improve the performance of the PID controller.
Due to the inherent feedforward of load current, capacitor current (CC) control shows a fast transient response that makes it suitable for the power supplies used in various portable electronic devices. However, considering the effect of the outer voltage loop, the stable range of the duty-cycle is significantly diminished in CC controlled buck converters. To investigate the stability effect of the outer voltage loop on buck converters, a CC controlled buck converter with a proportion-integral (PI) compensator is taken as an example, and its second-order discrete-time model is established. Based on this model, the instability caused by the duty-cycle is discussed with consideration of the outer voltage loop. Then the dynamical effects of the feedback gain of the PI compensator and the equivalent series resistance (ESR) of the output capacitor on the CC controlled buck converter with a PI compensator are studied. Furthermore, the design-oriented closed-loop stability criterion is derived. Finally, PSIM simulations and experimental results are supplied to verify the theoretical analyses.

In this paper, we proposed a PID tuning algorithm by the fuzzy set theory to improve the performance of the PID controller. The new tuning algorithm for the PID controller has the initial value of parameter Kp, $\tau_{I}$, $\tau_{D}$. by the Ziegler-Nichols formula that uses the ultimate gain and ultimate period from a relay tuning experiment. We will get the error and the error rate of plant output corresponding to the initial value of parameter and fnd the new proportion gain(Kp) and the integral time ($\tau_{I}$) from fuzzy tuner by the error and error rate of plant oueut as a membership function of fuzzy theory. This fuzzy auto tuning algorithm for PID controller considerably reduced the overshoot and rise time as compared to any other PID controller tuning algorithms. And in real parametric uncertainty systems, it constitutes an appreciable improvement of performance. The significant property of this algorithm is shown by simulation
Up-front irradiation technique as 3-dimensional conformation, or intensity modulation has kept large proportion of brain tumors from being complicated with acute radiation reactions in the normal tissue during or shortly after radiotherapy. For years, we've cannot help but counting on 2-D vertex beam technique to reduce acute reactions in the brain tumor patients because we're not equipped with 3-dimensional planning system. We analyzed its advantages and limitations in the clinical application. From 1998 to 2001, vertex or oblique vertex beams were applied to 35 patients with primary brain tumor and 25 among them were eligible for this analysis. Vertex(V) plans were optimized on the reconstructed coronal planes. As the control, we took the bilateral opposed techniques(BL) otherwise being applied. We compared the volumes included in 105% to 50% isodose lines of each plan. We also measured the radiation dose at various extracranial sites with TLD. With vertex techniques, we reduced the irradiated volumes of contralateral hemisphere and prevented middle ear effusion at contralateral side. But the low dose volume increased outside 100%; the ratio of V to BL in irradiated volume included in 100%, 80%, 50% was 0.55+/-0.10, 0.61+/-0.10, and 1.22+/-0.21, respectively. The hot area within 100% isodose line almost disappeared with vertex plan; the ratio of V to BL in irradiated volume included in 103%, 105%, 108% was 0.14+/-0.14, 0.05./-0.17, 0.00, respectively. The dose distribution within 100% isodose line became more homogeneous; the ratio of volume included in 103% and 105% to 100% was 0.62+/-0.14 and 0.26+/-0.16 in BL whereas was 0.16+/-0.16 and 0.02+/-0.04 in V. With the vertex techniques, extracranial dose increased up to $1{\sim}3%$ of maximum dose in the head and neck region except submandibular area where dose ranged 1 to 21%. From this data, vertex beam technique was quite effective in reduction of unnecessary irradiation to the contralateral hemispheres, integral dose, obtaining dose homogeneity in the clinical target. But it was associated with volume increment of low dose area in the brain and irradiation toward the head and neck region otherwise being not irradiated at all. Thus, this 2-D vertex technique can be a useful quasi-conformal method before getting 3-D apparatus.
