Empirical Study on the Effects of Quality Factors of ERP System on Organizational Performance (ERP시스템의 품질요인이 조직성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증연구)

  • The study of purpose is to analyze the effects of quality factors of ERP system on organizational performance. Where as many preceding studies have been focused on the factors of general service quality, this study analyzed interrelation between quality factors and organizational performance of corporation implemented ERP system using questionnaire. As compared with preceding studies which mainly concerned with system quality factors and information quality factors, this study specially added service quality to analyzing interrelation with organizational performance. Questionnaire consists of survey for the interrelation between ERP system implemented corporation and organizational performance. The results are as follows. First, quality factors of ERP system effected on organizational performance by t-test. Second, quality factors of ERP system showed significance statistically on the effects of organizational performance by t-test. The results of this study have a great expectation for the role of offering useful insight and information in the field of business and education. First, make sure that quality factors have significant effects on organizational performance when implemented ERP system in the business, investment and research on quality factors should be combined with. Second, in a sense that this study was added to service quality in research of quality factors by the detailed approaches which different from preceding studies, it is of highly practical use. Third, this study presents scientific foundation on quality improvement for quality factors of ERP system.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of ERP system quality factors on the system use satisfaction and on personal and organizational performances. For achieving this objective, we investigated the interrelationship among quality factors, use satisfaction and business performance in the companies which operate the ERP system using questionnaires, whereas many previous studies focused on general quality factors such as the relationship between system quality and use satisfaction on organizational performance. The difference between our study and previous studies is that we classified the information system quality into three categories (system quality, information quality, and service quality) before analyzing the respective relationship among three identified variables (use satisfaction, individual performance and organization performance). The result of this study proved that the system quality, information quality, and service quality considered as the ERP system quality factors have a positive effect on user satisfaction level, respectively.

  • Researches on performances analysis of companies which adopted ERP system and factors influencing introduction of ERP system have been conducted. This study presents service quality and system quality on ERP system and verifies how each factor influences the users satisfaction. This study finally verifies relationship among job satisfaction, job performance and satisfaction of system.

  • The quality of service in ERP services is a key issue in innovating the ERP performance as an IT service for corporations. Currently, most of the research works for this area are based on the existing quality models such as SERVQUAL, which are said not to measure service quality properly. Also, it does not consider the factor of the system acceptance, which is thought to be closely related to the quality of service in this type of IT services. Therefore, a research model is required, which can address the issues related to the ERP service quality measurements. In this paper, new research models have been proposed, and empirical data obtained from SME's ERP users have been applied to the proposed model to analyze the causal relationship between quality factors and to identify the most suitable quality measures. Also, the relationship between the service quality and the system acceptance was analyzed using a combined model. The results show that factors such as productivity and convenience affects the quality mostly and that the most appropriate measure for the service quality of ERP service is satisfaction. Also, for the system acceptance, the ease-of-use is the main factor. And, the service quality and system acceptance shows a strong correlation. This means that, in order to enhance the quality of ERP services, the service provider needs to provide customers with productivity-enhanced user-friendly IT services and active product support. The work of this research can help to improve the service quality and the user acceptance of ERP services and to lead further research works in this area.

  • Many companies have been implementing Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for their organizational transformation in order to survive and achieve strategic advantages in an increasing competitive business environment. Thus, it is meaningful to identify factors that affect ERP system operation positively. Organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB) are discretionary, extra-role behaviors of employees which go beyond the prescribed formal roles, and are known as to be the contribution factors for organization performance. The purpose of this study is to develop the measurements for the OCB constructs in ERP system context and empirically test the relationships between the OCB construct and ERP system success. The four constructs - altruism, conscientiousness and courtesy, civic virtue, and sportsmanship - and fifteen measurements on the OCB were developed based on previous studies (i.e. Organ 1988) and empirically verified by confirmatory factor analysis. The results of testing the relationships between the OCB and ERP system success show that the OCB have a significant direct impact on the information quality and intention of IT innovation while they have an indirect impact on work efficiency mediated by information quality. This study enhances the OCB model into information system arena and helps better understand the user behaviors of information systems.

  • This study was examined the relationship between the exogenous and endogenous variables in our model to measure ERP system performance using path analysis. The exogenous variables are system quality, user participation, user training, top management support and self-efficacy, and the endogenous variables are system usage, user satisfaction, and work efficiency. The results of the study are shown as follows. First, all the exogenous variables in our model have a direct effect on user satisfaction, and system quality, training, and self-efficacy have a direct effect on system usage. Second, system usage has a direct effect on user satisfaction and user satisfaction has a direct effect on work efficiency. The findings show that the exogenous variables in the model are important to increase ERP implementation success.

  • The ERP System is used as a useful tool for corporate management. The ERP system needs to be researched for continued use, taking into account the mandatory acceptance environment. This study was validated through AMOS 18 by setting up a model that adds variables in the mandatory acceptance environment based on prior studies on factors affecting the intended use of ERP system. Analysis shows that the intended use of ERP system users is significantly influenced by user satisfaction and objective usefulness, and that user satisfaction and objective usefulness are significantly affected by the quality of service quality of service. This study suggests that it is important to make users to feel the usefulness and satisfaction of the system through user's prior knowledge and participation. It also says that there is a need to maintain service quality.

Effect of the ERP Quality on the Performance and Causal-Effect Analysis between Outcome Variables in the Contract Foodservice Management Company (위탁급식 전문업체 전사적자원관리(ERP) 품질이 업무 성과에 미치는 영향과 업무 성과 변수 간 인과관계 분석)

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to analyze the effect of the ERP quality (system quality, information quality, service quality) on the performance (end user satisfaction, user's performance, system utilization) of business, 2) to conduct the causal-effect analysis between outcome variables (user's satisfaction, user's performance, system utilization) of ERP in the contract foodservice management company. The questionnaires were distributed to 260 end users (dietitians, foodservice management managers) in charge of managing the institutional foodservice such as the office (government agencies, factories), schools (universities, middle and high school) and hospitals which were managed by contract foodservice management company 'C' in Seoul and Kyunggi. The surveys were performed from July 26, 2004 to July 30. 2004. Two hundred and fifty (250) questionnaires were responded (response rate: 96.2%). The statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS Win (11.5). And the descriptive analysis, factor analysis, reliability test, pearson correlation, simple and multiple regression analysis were performed. The results showed that among the 3 factors (system quality, information quality, service quality), the system quality and information quality were proved to have an effect on the user's satisfaction and user's performance significantly (p < .05). The influence of ERP quality (system quality, information quality, service quality) on system utilization were testified to be statistically significant (p < .05). The user's performance were affected significantly by system utilization (p < 0.001) and end user's satisfaction (p < 0.001). As a conclusion, to improve user satisfaction, which is the ultimate performance variable of an ERP system, high quality of an ERP system is the pre-requisite. And the user satisfaction and performance of business would be higher with the better quality ERP system. When constructing ERP system for the contract foodservice management company, we should improve system utilization and user satisfaction altogether so that user's performance could be ultimately enhanced and we should make efforts to enhance the quality level of ERP. A Study on the Success Model of ERP Systems from the End Users' Perspective: Focused on K Public Corporation (최종사용자 관점의 ERP 시스템 성공모형에 관한 연구 - K공사를 중심으로 -)

  • The primary objective of his study is to investigate the factors influencing the implementation performance of K public corporation's ERP system from end user perspective. For this purpose, a research model and hypotheses are developed based on the literature reviews of IS Success Models. Data has been collected from 276 users who have used ERP system in K public corporation and the research hypotheses were tested using covariance structure model analysis. The hypotheses test results of this study are summarized as follows. Firstly, system quality has a positive influence on system usage, but information quality and service quality do not have significant influence on system usage. Secondly, all of three quality factors which are information quality, system quality, and service quality, have positive influence on user satisfaction. Lastly, both of system usage and user satisfaction have positive influence on user performance. From the analyses, this research ends with implications, as well as limitations and future research directions.
