  • RFID technology enables companies to precisely manage their inventories at the item level. Recently, due to the wide spread of RFID data-exchange standards, RFID systems are being recognized as separate information systems, each of which is consist of RFID hardwares, a middleware and data repositories, thereby RFID systems become common targets for system integration. In this paper, we proposed an effective integration framework between RFID systems and existing enterprise information systems (EIS). We also surveyed the current state of the RFID-EIS system integration practices. The proposed framework will be helpful for system developers to effectively integrate RFID systems with EIS's.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) systems is a wireless frequency recognition technology that can be used to recognize, trace and identify people, things and animals using RFID. Recently, RFID systems have emerged as new forms of interorganizational systems(IOS). Because of their capability for real-time identification and tacking over large distances, some believe that RFID systems will fundamentally change the my companies do business. The purpose of this study is empirically examined RFID systems adoption for u-business. To achieve this purposes, we were collected 72 questionnaires from Korean companies. In this study, RFID systems adoption was influenced by top management support, information systems maturity, competitive pressure, trust perceived advantage of u-business, compatibility of RFID tag. However, firm size, cost exercised power, did not affect significantly on RFID systems adoption. In the conclusion, study's limitations md implications treated.

  • Since libraries first used RFID systems in the late 1990's, there is growing debate about the advantages and disadvantages of HF and UHF RFID systems. This study tries to explore practical issues in HF and UHF RFID systems especially in the areas of system characteristics and advantages and disadvantages affecting technology implementation to libraries. This study investigates the current status of RFID systems in Korean libraries, and analyzes the best practices of four libraries(two libraries in HF and two libraries in UHF respectively). Also, this study describes functional characteristics of HF and UHF RFID systems, debates on frequencies in ISO/DIS 28560, and the opinions of both manufacturers which provide RFID systems to libraries and librarians who use HF and UHF RFID systems in their libraries.

  • Currently RFID code systems are classified into ISO, EPC, uCode, KKR code, Mobile RFID code, and etc. According to RFID code systems, RFID system is changed. For various RFID code systems, it's difficult to make it to the network and permanence of RFID business. And the existing system isn't add new RFID code systems to RFID system, and change it efficiently. This paper is proposed to a system of Multi RFID code Identification Translation using Ontology. This system is able to identify code data from RFID reader using ontology build into the identifier info and translation info of RFID code systems, and translate to URN data. Therefore in case of extending and changing RFID code systems, we can add and change the identifier info and translation info of RFID code systems in ontology.

  • Due to its capabilities, RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) has shown its applicability in various areas of business operations. This study describes the successful RFID system implemented in the auto parts manufacturing company called "E" to improve the efficiency of auto parts painting process management. The findings of this study show that an RFID system could help companies reduce manufacturing cost, inventory, and error rate in the auto-parts painting process. The RFID system descried in this study also demonstrates that an RFID system could make production data available real time to the company's ERP system and thus, managers and supervisors on the shop floor are able to make more informed business decisions. The findings of this study imply that RFID systems can be used to improve the efficiency of various manufacturing operations in companies. This study also provides IT professionals with practical guidelines for an effective implementation of RFID systems. In other words, it provides IT practitioners with the information on the success factors for implementing RFID systems as well as potential problems and solutions to them when implementing RFID systems.

  • Comparing with bar-code systems, RFID systems can supply more efficient work. Using RFID systems, logistic management systems could be helped effectively to gather real-time information. It's available to reduce the working time and object's delay time, and to deal with real-time information by using RFID system. Until now, based on how many pallets used, there is few study about best workload of RFID system. Therefore, in this study, both bar-code and RFID system simulations were executed for inspection process in distribution center. As a result, following the ware pallet quantity, the total cost of both working time and other delay times were calculated and the sensitivity analysis of total cost trend was executed.

  • Recently, fisheries safety has been a matter of primary concern among consumers and suppliers. This phenomenon made them require the introduction of fisheries traceability systems. For traceability systems to be effective, automatic identification means play an important role. Therefore, RFID-based fisheries traceability systems are more required than barcode-based fisheries traceability systems. Unlikely EU and Japan, Korea did not accept mandatory traceability regulations. But Many countries began to accept mandatory traceability regulations to diminish food risks. So Korea is expected to adopt them in the near future. The purpose of this study is to find what benefits are generated from the adoption of RFID-based fisheries traceability systems and are related to their success. To do these, this study investigated primary benefits of RFID-based fisheries traceability systems from the perspectives of consumers and suppliers. Consumers' benefits were derived from the perceived risk dimensions. And suppliers' benefits were derived from operational benefits of RFID systems. To purify the benefits from RFID-based fisheries traceability systems, reliability and factor analysis were used. And the refined benefits of RFID-based fisheries traceability systems were additionally analyzed to find which benefits were significantly related to fisheries traceability systems' success. According to the analysis results, all risk dimensions except social risk were significantly related to their success. But in the benefits of suppliers, only "recalls and counterfeits" factor was significantly related to their success. These results implied that fisheries traceability systems should be based RFID technology instead of barcode and fisheries traceability systems were related to almost food risk dimensions. It's because these significant factors are related all food risks except social risk and the benefits of suppliers can be derived from only RFID technology.

  • RFID systems are being studied and developed in the area of the industry and marketplace. Recently RFID systems are core element of the ubiquitous technologies in individual life and industry. However, RFID systems often cause some serious problems such as violation of privacy and information security because their contactless devices communicate each other by radio frequency In this paper, we propose multiple objects RFID tag scheme including tag structure and authentication protocol. The proposed RFID tag structure maintains several object IDs of different applications in a tag memory. The tag structure allows those applications to access object IDs simultaneously. The authentication protocol for multiple objects tag is designed ta overcome the problems of security and privacy. The protocol has robustness against various attacks in low cost RFID systems. We evaluate the efficiency of proposed scheme and compare security of our scheme with several traditional schemes.

  • Recently applications of RFID technologies in production and logistics systems are expanding. In this research, we deal with workflow modeling methods for handling RFID-tagged parts. We verified that the material flow processes in a RFID system can be designed and assessed using workflow modeling notations, and suggested available process patterns using BPMN. In addition, we proposed an algorithm to monitor the exact status of flows and determine whether some of the events are ghost reads or not by referring predefined workflow definitions. The major contribution of this research is that it has demonstrated how well-established workflow modeling methods can be applied to RFID-based systems.

  • With the recent rapid growth of RFID technologies, the Application of RFID systems into the medical or the military industries as well as into the distribution and logistics industry are now attempted continuously. The government and private sectors plan to carry out various small and large scale projects related to RFID systems. However, many companies attempting to apply RFID systems applications into their organizations are encountering many several difficulties because of the lack of installation experience and the absence of an useful guideline. This paper focuses on identification and classification of typical barriers to the successful application of RFID systems according to the five-step method of system application process. Moreover a "barrier map" is produced by conducting a survey and interviews by specialists. In addition, a practical guideline to overcome such barriers is presented and discussed.
