A Study on Reliability Prediction for Korea High Speed Train Control System (한국형고속철도 열차제어시스템 하부구성요소 신뢰도예측에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper we study on a method to predict and to demonstrate the reliability of the Korea high speed train control system in quantitative point of view. For the prediction of the reliability in train control system which is composed of electronic parts, Relax Software 7.7 automation tool is employed and MIL-HDBK-217 Handbook that is a standard for the prediction of the failure rate in electronic components is used. Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) is predicted based on the failure rate of the subsystems, State Modeling and Markov Modeling method is used to express a reliability function of the train control system composed by hardware redundancy as a function of time. We propose a Reliability Test which is performed on the level of the subsystems and Failure Report, Analysing, Correction action system which use the test operation data to prove the predicted reliability.

Case Study on Improvement of Reliability Prediction Accuracy in Development Phase for Aircraft (항공기 개발단계에서의 신뢰도 예측 정확도 향상에 관한 사례연구)

  • In development phase of the Aircraft Systems, the reliability prediction of electronic equipments are usually performed using MIL-HDBK-217. The reliability of fielded electronic systems, however, used to be underestimated with MIL-HDBK-217. To solve this problem, some alternatives are suggested and Telcordia SR-332 is among them. In this case study, the reliability of ESU which controls gas turbine engine is predicted using Telcordia SR-332 along with the development test data. The predicted reliabilities of ESU using Telcordia SR-332 and MIL-HDBK-217 are also compared. As a result this case study showed that the predicted reliability using Telcordia SR-332 was better close to field(operation) reliability than MIL-HDBK-217.

  • This paper describes procedure to build a generic reliability analysis database structure and failure data during the conceptual design phase. Reliability prediction utilizing such supporting database system enable the designer to quantify the effects of varying design and operational constrains on mechanical component's failure rate. This leads to compare competing alternatives to the reliability improvement efforts.

  • The blasting has a lot of economic efficiency and speediness but it can damage to a neighbor structure, a domestic animal and a cultured fish due to the blasting vibration, then the public grievance is increased. Therefore, we need to manage the blasting vibration efficiently. The prediction of the correct vibration velocity is not easy because there are lots of different kinds of the scale of blasting vibration and it has a number of a variable effect. So we figure the optimum line through the least-squares regression by using the vibration data measured in hard rock blasting and compared with the design vibration prediction equation. As a result, we confirm that the vibration estimated in this paper is bigger than the design vibration prediction equation in the same charge and distance. If there is a Gaussian normal distribution data on the left-right side of the least squares regression, then we can estimate the vibration prediction equation on reliability 50%(${\beta}=0$), 90%(${\beta}=1.28$), 95%(${\beta}=1.64$). 99.9%(${\beta}=3.09$). As a result, it appears to be suitable that the reliability is 99% at the transverse component, the reliability 95% is at the vertical component, the reliability 90% is at the longitudinal component and the reliability is 95% at the peak vector sum component.

  • Globally, wind power development is experiencing dramatic growth and wind power penetration levels are increasing. Wind generation is highly variable in time and space and it doesn't guarantee the system reliability and secure system operation. As wind power capacity becomes a significant portion of total generation capacity, the reliability assessment for wind power are therefore needed. At present, this operational reliability assessment is focusing on a generation adequacy perspective and does not consider transmission reliability issues. In this paper, we propose the critical transmission operating constraint prediction(CTOCP) system with high wind power penetration to enhance transmission reliability.

  • The recent stream to reliability prediction is that it is totally inclusive in depth to consider even the operating and environmental condition at the level of finished goods as well as component itselves. In this study, firstly we present the reliability prediction methods by entire failure rate model which failure rate at the system level is added to the failure rate model at the component level. Secondly we build up the improved bases of reliability demonstration through a, pp.ication of Kaplan-Meier, Cumulative hazard, Johnson's methods as non-parametric and Maximum Likelihood Estimator under exponential & Weibull distribution as parametric. And also present the methods of curve fitting to piecewise failure rate under Weibull distribution, PRST (Probability Ratio Sequential Test), curve fitting to S-shaped reliability growth curve, computer programs of each methods. Lastly we show the practical for determination of optimal burn-in time as a method of reliability enhancement, and also verify the practical usefulness of the above study through the a, pp.ication of failure and test data during 1 year.

  • Almost all existing software reliability models are based on the assumptions of he software usage and software failure process. There, therefore, is no universally applicable software reliability model. To develop a universal software reliability model this paper suggests the predictive filter as a general software reliability prediction model for time domain failure data. Its usefulness is empirically verified by analyzing the failure datasets obtained from 14 different software projects. Based on the average relative prediction error, the suggested predictive filter is compared with other well-known neural network models and statistical software reliability growth models. Experimental results show that the predictive filter generally results in a simple model and adapts well across different software projects.

  • An aircraft must be designed to minimize system failure rate for obtaining the aircraft safety, because the aircraft system failure causes a fatal accident. The safety of the aircraft system can be predicted by analyzing availability, reliability, and maintainability of the system. In this study, the reliability and the maintainability of the hydraulic system are analysed except the availability, and therefore the reliability and the maintainability analysis process and the results are presented for a helicopter hydraulic system. For prediction of the system reliability, the failure rate model presented in MIL-HDBK-217F is used, and MTBF is calculated by using the Part Stress Analysis Prediction and quality/temperature/environmental factors described in NPRD-95 and MIL-HDBK-338B. The maintainability is predicted by FMECA(Failure Mode, Effect & Criticality Analysis) based on MIL-STD-1629A.

  • Prototype model of MDU(Master Data Unit), to be employed on KSLV-I, has been developed and tested being interfaced with other units. Before stepping into the development of engineering and flight model phases, we have carried out reliability prediction of prototype MDU in order to assure availability of the unit. This paper describes the method of reliability prediction of prototype MDU and prediction results based on MIL-HDBK-217F, 'Electronic Reliability Design Handbook'.
