A Study on Power Control with Improved SIR in DS-CDMA System (DS-CDMA에서 개선된 SIR을 이용한 전력 제어에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose the Improved SIR-based Power Control method in mobile communication system. Generally speaking, SIR-based design considering both channel noise and multiuser interference is accurate indication of signal quality and provides good performance. However, one serious problem associated with SIR-based Power Control is the potential of Positive Feedback which can endanger the stability of the system. Therefore from SIR definition, we decrease the signal\`s Interference we will got a improved SIR and have a stable power control Also in mobile using window register which has Up-Maintain-Down power control step size instead of Up-Down, we got a better performance. This paper assesses the performance of Improved SIR based Power Control using PIC and window register. The proposed Improved SIR based Power Control is presented and compared with existing SIR based Power Control and Strength-and-SIR based Power Control.

Construction and characterization of the bacteriophage P4 derivatives whose genome size suitable for packaging into a P2sir3-sized head (P2 sir3-sized head에 packaging 되기 용이한 크기의 박테리오파지 P4 유도체 조성과 정성 연구)

  • The term "P2 sir-associated helper inefficiency" has been used to define the inefficient helper capability of P2 sir mutants for their satellite bacteriophage P4. The aim of this study was to investigate the factors overcoming P2 sir-associated helper inefficiency. At first, we verified whether the P2 cos region containing P4 sid71 cosP2 could overcome P2 sir-associated helper inefficiency with P2 sir3. The result was that P4 sid71 cosP2 could not overcome P2 sir-associated helper inefficiency with P2 sir3. Instead of cos region of P2, the size of the DNA packaged into a $P2_{sir}$-sized head seems to be important for overcoming P2 sir-associated helper inefficiency. In the present work, three kinds of P4 derivatives with packaged DNA sizes between those of P4 ost1 and P4 ost2, were constructed through DNA manipulation. In one P4 derivative, P4 sid71 delRI::apr, the size of the packaged DNA was identified with a CsCl buoyant equilibrium density gradient experiment. According to the burst sizes of the P4 derivatives, they could overcome P2 sir3-associated helper inefficiency. The size of the P4 derivative DNA suitable for packaging into a $P2_{sir3}$-sized head was 28-29 kb.

Characterization of the bacteriophage P4 sid+ derivative overcoming P2sir-associated helper inefficiency through DNA conformational adaptation (DNA 형태 적응을 거쳐 P2sir-관련 도움파지 비효율성을 극복하는 박테리오파지 P4 sid+ 유도체 정성 연구)

  • A certain size of DNA (28-29 kb long) to be packaged into P2-size head and the mutation in sid gene of bacteriophage P4 are the major factors to overcome "P2 sir-associated helper inefficiency". To clarify whether the presence of sid mutation is essential to overcome "P2 sir-associated helper inefficiency" or not, we tested the P4 derivative, P4 delRI::kmr, which is $sid^+$ and whose genome size supposed to be 28.5 kb long in the case of being packaged into $P2_{sir3}$-sized large head. As P4 delRI::kmr showed the low EOP with P2 sir3 lysogen, P4 delRI::kmr phage stock was prepared in P2 sir3 lysogen host to increase the EOP with P2 sir3 lysogen. Through this process, P4 delRI::kmr had been adapted for P2 sir3 lysogen. With a CsCl buoyant equilibrium density gradient experiment and gel electrophoresis of the isolated DNA, it was evident that the adaptation of P4 delRI::kmr for P2 sir3 lysogen was caused by the conformational change of DNA to be packaged into large head. The burst size determination experiments with P4 delRI::kmr phage stock adapted for P2 sir3 lysogen and normal P4 delRI::kmr phage stock showed that not the sid mutation but the size of DNA to be packaged (28-29 kb long) was essential to overcome "P2 sir-associated helper inefficiency".

Cobalt complex structure of the sirohydrochlorin chelatase SirB from Bacillus subtilis subsp. spizizenii (Bacillus subtilis subsp. spizizenii의 sirohydrochlorin chelatase SirB의 코발트 복합체 구조)

  • Chelatase catalyzes the insertion of divalent metal into tetrapyrrole and plays a key role in the biosynthesis of metallated tetrapyrroles, such as cobalamin, siroheme, heme, and chlorophyll. SirB is a sirohydrochlorin (SHC) chelatase that generates cobalt-SHC or iron-SHC by inserting cobalt or iron into the center of sirohydrochlorin tetrapyrrole. To provide structural insights into the metal-binding and SHC-recognition mechanisms of SirB, we determined the crystal structure of SirB from Bacillus subtilis subsp. spizizenii (bssSirB) in complex with cobalt ions. bssSirB forms a monomeric ${\alpha}/{\beta}$ structure that consists of two domains, an N-terminal domain (NTD) and a C-terminal domain (CTD). The NTD and CTD of bssSirB adopt similar structures with a four-stranded ${\beta}-sheet$ that is decorated by ${\alpha}-helices$. bssSirB presents a highly conserved cavity that is generated between the NTD and CTD and interacts with a cobalt ion on top of the cavity using two histidine residues of the NTD. Moreover, our comparative structural analysis suggests that bssSirB would accommodate an SHC molecule into the interdomain cavity. Based on these structural findings, we propose that the cavity of bssSirB functions as the active site where cobalt insertion into SHC occurs.

  • In this paper, each electrical length and harmonics of the multi-stage SIR are calculated by using the input impedance for the variable application of SIR in the microwave systems. The size reduced ratio of the SIR is slightly reduced as increasing of the number of stage. The impedance ratio between lower and higher impedance of the SIR has the dominant effect on the size reduced ratio and harmonic characteristics. Also the equivalent impedance of the SIR is a geometric mean between lower and higher impedance and the quality factor of the SIR is similar to the half-wavelength resonator's.

  • SIR based beam switching in distributed controlled cellular systems is proposed to reduce intercell interference. Compared with Random beam switching that beam switching pattern is randomly selected and cannot avoid beam collision between neighboring cell, SIR based beam switching update its switching pattern based on SIR report from mobile. Neighboring cells independently update their switching patterns and the updated patterns converge to the patterns that minimize beam collision. We shows SIR base beam switching has 20% gain compared with random beam switching in two neighboring cell model.

  • In this paper, we propose an enhanced SIR measurement algorithm for WCDMA mobile station modem. The proposed algorithm minimizes processing delay by applying velocity estimation-based channel estimator with IIR filter and reduces measured SIR offset by compensating attenuated signal power by using pilot channel(CPICH) in fading channel environment. To improve stability of SIR measurement, we also adopt an IIR filter which can properly reflect variation of fading channel in signal and interference power measurement. We prove that the proposed algorithm outperforms conventional SIR measurement algorithm in mean and jitter of measured SIR. Computer simulation shows that performance results using the proposed algorithm have improvement of approximately 8dB for measured mean and 2dB for measured jitter in the wireless mobile channel, especially in fast mobile speed environment.

  • COVID-19 has spread seriously around the world in 2020 and it is still significantly affecting our whole daily life. Currently, the whole world is still undergoing the pandemic and South Korea is no exception to it. During the pandemic, South Korea had several events that prevented or accelerated its spread. To establish the prevention policies for infectious diseases, it is very important to evaluate the intervention effect of such events. The susceptible-infected-removed (SIR) model is often used to describe the dynamic behavior of the spread of infectious diseases through ordinary differential equations. However, the SIR model is a deterministic model without considering the uncertainty of observed data. To consider the uncertainty in the SIR model, the Bayesian approach can be employed, and this approach allows us to evaluate the intervention effects by time-varying functions of the infection rate in the SIR model. In this study, we describe the time trend of the spread of COVID-19 in South Korea and investigate the intervention effects for the events using the stochastic SIR model based on the Bayesian approach.

  • This paper proposes a power allocation method for multiple node beamforming with uniform circular array antennas to increase SIR of nodes in wireless mesh network. The proposed method calculates beamforming power allocation vectors that maximizes SIR satisfied with power constraint of HPA. The simulation results demonstrate the proposed method achieves the enhanced SIR of nodes than that of beamforming method.

  • The underwater acoustic lens system is one of the systems getting high-resolution images on the seafloor by the beam forming method using acoustic lens. The beam forming using acoustic lenses reduces complexity and driving power. When receiving an incoming beam with the acoustic lens array, beam pattern analysis and arrangement problem of the array sensor must be addressed. Introducing SIR (Signal to Interference Ratio), the relationship among sensor interval, beam pattern and image quality would be analyzed. Generally if the sensor interval getting wider, the less effect of the side lobes makes SIR high. If the amplitude of a side lobe is high, SIR is generally getting low. The type of the apodization function changes the width, shape and amplitude of both main lobe and side lobes. Thus an appropriate apodization function can improve SIR. In this paper, SIR is stable at the sensor interval of 13mm with 0-10dB, which is not high relatively. By applying the Chebyshev function, the SIR becomes 80dB over the sensor interval of 37 mm or higher. The Hann and triangular functions demonstrate better SIR when the sensor interval becomes narrower.
