  • A multi-media binary DS/CDMA system with variable processing gain and coherent correlation receivers are considered under additive white Gaussian noise channels. Two types of information sources with different rates and transmitting powers are assumed to be transmitted simultaneously in the same channel. Average signal-to-noise ratios at the correlation receiver outputs for each type of information sources are analytically derived as functions of discrete partial cross-correlations between spreading code sequences. The analysis is expected to provide analytical tools for use in preliminary system design and spreading code selection.

  • This paper proposes a medium access control protocol for integrated voice and data services in slotted CDMA systems. The proposed protocol, which is named as RCSSMA (Reservation Code and Status Sensing Multiple Access), adopts a code reservation and status sensing schemes. RCSSMA protocol gives higher access priority to the voice traffic than data traffic for reducing the packet dropping probability. The voice terminal reserves an available spreading code to transmit voice packets during a talkspurt, whereas the data terminal transmits a packet over one of the available spreading codes that are not reserved by the voice terminals. In this protocol, the voice packets never contend with the data packets. Packet dropping probability and average data packet transmission delay are analyzed using a Markov chain model.

  • This paper reports on the development of a DPSK demodulator of DS spread spectrum communications that use one SAW convolver. The spreading code chip pattern is changed from bit to bit in data portion of packet. And code chip is PSK modulated. Compared with simulation, experiment shows that the DPSK signal spreaded can be demodulated by using only one SAW convolver. And the theoretical performance of this DPSK demudulator is equal to CSK demodulator wich uses two SAW convolvers.

  • In this paper, we calculate average bit error probabilities of asynchronous hybrid DS/FH-SSMA systems in AWGN chnnel and nonselective Rayleigh fading channel. We analyze and compare the performance of systems in AWGN channel and Rayleigh fading channel by using linear correlation receiver and hard limiting correlation receiver(nonlinear correlation receiver). Binary PSK scheme is considered and random spreading code sequences and random hopping patterns are used. Bit error probabilities of the systems with/without near-far problem under the same bandwidth expansion are calculated. the result shows that the performance of hard limiting correlation receiver is better than that of linear correlation receiver over nonselective Rayleigh fading channel.

  • We examine the DS/SSMA system which is employing coherent BPSK with RAKE receiver. We adop Nakagami m-distribution as a multipath fading model. First, we analyze the performances of the system in the single cell environment and obtain the other-cell interference according to power control error. And considering the other-cell interference into the analysis of single cell system, we examine the cellular CDMA network. The average BER and outage probability are the figures of merit that characterize the system performance. The required BER, 1E-3, and required outage probability are the figures of merit that characterize the system performance. The requeired BER, 1E-3, and required outage probability, 1% for the voice transmission is considered to acquire the capacity of system.

  • With reference to the Spread Spectrum techniqeu diseussed and further extended by many investigators, the Peseudo-noise Code Polarity Modulation (PNCPM) technique has proposed in this paper. By using this new technique of PNCPM, some problems pertaining to the Spread Spectrum mode has been sloved. In addition by the PNCPM mode it is proposed that data shifting can be easily demodulated every clock(frame) by measn of simple hardware implementaton for the purpose of operating of the asynchroniged detection mode. And in this paper it is shown that PNCPM mode can be easily implemented by the CCD correlator, and is applicable to the Spread Spectrum Multiple Access.

  • This paper is concerned with the design of a pseudonoise (PN) sequence used in direct-sequence spread spectrum multiple-access (DS/SSMA) communication systems. Here we propose a new waveform, a generalized version of rectangular waveform, which can reduce the multiple access interference to zero as the pulse width becomes narrower. It gives far better performance than either rectangular or sine waveform.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of a concatenated code with two different inner decoding schemes. One is the error-detecting inner decoding, and the other is the error-detecting-and-correcting inner decoding scheme. We compare the performances of the two decoding schemes for finite and infinite block length cases when the concatenated code is applied to slow frequency-hopping spread-spectrum multiple access (FH-SSMA) communication systems.

  • A medium access control protocol is proposed for integrated voice and data services in the packet CDMA network with a small coverage. Uplink channels are composed of time slots and multiple spreading codes for each slot. This protocol gives higher access priority to the delay-sensitive voice traffic than to the data traffic. During a talkspurt, voice terminals reserve a spreading code to transmit multiple voice packets. On the other hand, whenever generating a data packet, data terminals transmit a packet based on the status Information of spreading codes in the current slot, which is received from base station. In this protocol, voice packet does not come into collision with data packet. Therefore, this protocol can increase the maximum number of voice terminals.

  • The cyclic undecapeptide, cyclosporin A (CyA), is one of the most commonly prescribed immunosuppressive drugs. It is generated nonribosomally from a multifunctional cyclosporin synthetase enzyme complex by the filamentous fungus Tolypocladium niveum. In order to maximize the production of CyA by wild-type T. niveum (ATCC 34921), each of three culture stages (sporulation culture, growth culture, and production culture) were sequentially optimized. Among the three potential sporulation media, the SSMA medium generated the highest numbers of T. niveum spores. The SSM and SM media were then selected as the optimal growth and production culture media, respectively. The addition of valine and fructose to the SM production medium was also determined to be crucial for CyA biosynthesis. In this optimized three-stage culture system, 3% of the spore inoculum generated the highest level of CyA productivity in a 15-day T. niveum production culture, thereby implying that the determination of an appropriate size of T. niveum spore inoculum plays a critical role in the maximization of CyA production.
