  • For predicting defect-prone module in software, SVM classifier showed good performance in a previous research. But there are disadvantages that SVM parameter should be chosen differently for every kernel, and algorithm should be performed iteratively for predict results of changed parameter. Therefore, we find these parameters using Genetic Algorithm and compare with result of classification by Backpropagation Algorithm. As a result, the performance of GA-SVM model is better.

  • This study measured the stream data from the several sensors, and stores the database in MapReduce framework environment, and it aims to design system with the small performance and cluster analysis error rate through the KMSVM algorithm. Through the KM-SVM algorithm, the cluster analysis effective data was used for U-health system. In the results of experiment by using 2003 data sets obtained from 52 test subjects, the k-NN algorithm showed 79.29% cluster analysis accuracy, K-means algorithm showed 87.15 cluster analysis accuracy, and SVM algorithm showed 83.72%, KM-SVM showed 90.72%. As a result, the process speed and cluster analysis effective ratio of KM-SVM algorithm was better.

  • This paper presents a novel method for image classification based on a hybrid genetic algorithm (GA) and support vector machine (SVM) approach which can significantly improve the classification performance for content-based image retrieval (CBIR). Though SVM has been widely applied to CBIR, it has some problems such as the kernel parameters setting and feature subset selection of SVM which impact the classification accuracy in the learning process. This study aims at simultaneously optimizing the parameters of SVM and feature subset without degrading the classification accuracy of SVM using GA for CBIR. Using the hybrid GA and SVM model, we can classify more images in the database effectively. Experiments were carried out on a large-size database of images and experiment results show that the classification accuracy of conventional SVM may be improved significantly by using the proposed model. We also found that the proposed model outperformed all the other models such as neural network and typical SVM models.

  • ECG consists of various waveforms of electric signals of heat. Datamining can be used for analyzing and classifying the waveforms. Conventional studies classifying electrocardiogram have problems like extraction of distorted characteristics, overfitting, etc. This study classifies electrocardiograms by using BP algorithm and SVM to solve the problems. As results, this study finds that SVM provides an effective prohibition of overfitting in neural networks and guarantees a sole global solution, showing excellence in generalization performance.

  • This paper proposes a dynamic gesture recognition algorithm using SVM(Support Vector Machine) which is suitable for multi-dimension classification. First of all, the proposed algorithm locates the beginning and end of the gestures on the video frames at the Kinect camera, spots meaningful gesture frames, and normalizes the number of frames. Then, for gesture recognition, the algorithm extracts gesture features using body parts' positions and relations among the parts based on the human model from the normalized frames. C-SVM for each dynamic gesture is trained using training data which consists of positive data and negative data. The final gesture is chosen with the largest value of C-SVM values. The proposed gesture recognition algorithm can be applied to the interactive storybook as gesture interface.

  • In this study, Support Vector Machine(SVM) and Artificial Neural Network(ANN) are used for developing the defect diagnostic algorithm of the aircraft turbo-shaft engine. Effect of altitude variation on the Defect Diagnostics algorithm has been included and evaluated. Separate learning Algorithm(SLA) suggested with ANN to loam the performance data selectively after classifying the position of defects by SVM improves the classification speed and accuracy.

  • Function approximation from a set of input-output pairs has numerous applications in scientific and engineering areas. Support vector machine (SVM) is a new and very promising classification, regression and function approximation technique developed by Vapnik and his group at AT&TG Bell Laboratories. However, it has failed to establish itself as common machine learning tool. This is partly due to the fact that this is not easy to implement, and its standard implementation requires the use of optimization package for quadratic programming (QP). In this appear we present simple iterative Kernel Adatron (KA) algorithm for function approximation and compare it with standard SVM algorithm using QP.

  • This paper presents the polygon-based Q-leaning and Parallel SVM algorithm for object search with multiple robots. We organized an experimental environment with one hundred mobile robots, two hundred obstacles, and ten objects. Then we sent the robots to a hallway, where some obstacles were lying about, to search for a hidden object. In experiment, we used four different control methods: a random search, a fusion model with Distance-based action making (DBAM) and Area-based action making (ABAM) process to determine the next action of the robots, and hexagon-based Q-learning, and dodecagon-based Q-learning and parallel SVM algorithm to enhance the fusion model with Distance-based action making (DBAM) and Area-based action making (ABAM) process. In this paper, the result show that dodecagon-based Q-learning and parallel SVM algorithm is better than the other algorithm to tracking for object.

  • Classification technology is essential for fast retrieval in large multi-media database. This paper proposes a combining GA(Genetic Algorithm) and SVM(Support Vector Machine) model to fast retrieval. We used color and texture as feature vectors. We improved the retrieval accuracy by using proposed model which retrieves an optimal feature vector set in extracted feature vector sets. The first performance test was executed for the performance of color, texture and the feature vector combined with color and texture. The second performance test, was executed for performance of SVM and proposed algorithm. The results of the experiment, using the feature vector combined color and texture showed a good Performance than a single feature vector and the proposed algorithm using hybrid method also showed a good performance than SVM algorithm.
