중등학교 수학교사 양성을 위한 현대대수학 교재 개발 연구 (A Study on Development of Textbook 'Modern Algebra' for Training Mathematics Teacher of Secondary Schools)

  • In this paper we develop textbook 'Modem Algebra' for training mathematics teacher of secondary schools. In order to understand mathematics teacher's viewpoint about desirable textbook 'Modem Algebra' we created a Questionnaire related with curriculum and textbook for training mathematics teacher of secondary schools. We analyze the result of the questionnaire along with recent studies on teacher education and come up with basic principles of developing textbook 'Modern Algebra'. The first version of 'Modern Algebra for Mathematics Teachers' that we have developed based on our study can be found in website 'www.teacheredu.co.kr'.

과학 교과서 선정과 평가에 관련된 교사들의 인식조사와 과학 교과서 평가틀 개발에 관한 연구 (The Development of Evaluating Framework for a Science Textbook in a Secondary School)

  • The major purpose of this thesis is to construct the evaluating framework of a science textbook with a high confidence and universal validity, referring to a preceeding study and materials involved in research work, and in consideration of the educational conditions of the secondary school. The framework developed in this study are composed of 7 categories: content, organization, representation, laboratory, illustrations, external form or editing system, and supplementary materials. Each category consists of detailed items. Eech item in the check-list is to be given between one and five points, and the total number of possible points in this evaluating framework is 290. As a result, these evaluating items enable quantitative analyses, afford an opportunity which we can look into many-sidedly the respects we should consider when a science textbook is adopted, and they can be estimated partly or synthetically as occasional demands. This study is exepected to contribute to choose a good science textbook as fundamental data in the future, and to help the lasting study or estimation of the textbook.

과학교과서와 그에 관련된 교수 학습자료의 활용 실태 조사 (On Science Textbooks and Related Teaching Learning Materials)

  • The purpose of the study was to establish a new view of textbook which may contribute to the abolishment of the instruction mainly based on the only textbook and to the promotion of creativities of students. We first reviewed science textbooks and related teaching-learning materials of foreign countries with emphasis on the relationship among textbook and teaching-learning materials and practical use of them. In western countries the roles of traditional textbook has been changed. That is, various kinds of materials such as reading book, work-book, worksheet, experimental guidebook, filmstrips are used to raise effect of instruction besides of traditional type of textbook. Secondary, we identified the problems related to the science textbook-view of textbook, textbook contents, practical use of textbook-through opinion survey administered to principals akd teachers of elementary schools. The results of the survey are as follows; Concerning the view of textbook, most teachers did not recognize textbook as an absolute materials. They thought that textbook contents could be taught reorganized according to their judgements. On the contrary, teachers responded to the question of whether or not they follow contents of textbook as they are presented in it were approximately 30%. Further, more than 75% of them have seldom used instructional materials except textbooks. In order to revise the problems of our present textbook as stated above, a new view of textbook should be established. We, above all, established 4 basic premises for searching a new view of textbook. 1) Textbook should not be considered as the only material but as being at the center of various teaching -learning materials. 2) The importance of textbook should be illustrated Among Curriculum, textbook and related teaching-learning materials, instruction and evaluation. 3. Textbook contents should not be regarded as definitely fixed or absolute ones. 4. Human being can understand environment more fully by commanding his swnsory organ multilaterally. Under these premises we disscussed about curriculum and textbook, textbook, and instruction, akd evaluation method.

초등.중등학교 과학교과서에 나타난 열, 온도 개념에 대한 분석 (Analysis of Concepts Related to Heat and Temperature in Elementary and Secondary School Science Textbooks)

  • 이 연구에서는 과학사적 관점을 토대로 온도와 열의 개념 유형을 구분하고, 초등 중등학교 과학 교과서에서 열과 온도에 대해 진술하는 개념을 분석하여 학생들이 가질 수 있는 오개념의 원인을 파악하고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 초등학교부터 고등학교까지 과학 및 화학, 물리 교과서에서 제시하는 열과 온도의 개념이 현대적인 관점을 제시하지 못하고, 과학사적으로 변천해온 개념들이 뒤섞여서 제시되고 있다. 이러한 문제점은 학생들이 열과 온도에 대한 정확한 개념을 호기득하는데 방해가 될 수 있을 것이다.

교사들에 의한 공통과학 교과서 평가와 수업내용 현황 (The High School Common Science Textbook and Classes by the Point of Science Teacher's View)

  • High school common science is introduced by the sixth national curriculum. It consists of physics, chemistry, biology and earth science like the secondary school science. In this paper, textbooks are analyzed by the science teachers and the status of the present teaching and learning methods is reported. The detailed results are as follows; 1. Almost high school teachers choose textbook that included little the STS material. More than two teachers are teaching the high school common science and when they are chosen, they are independent with their major. 2. According to the national curriculum, they evaluated the textbooks as it is below the middle level. This evaluations are not dependent on teachers' comparement and textbook's class except the several matters based on STS (science-technology-society). 3. The teacher teaching the high school common science thought that teaching the textbook in school is worse than analysizing it. they must have emphasised on learning of inquire method than system of knowledge, introduction to material connected with real life and STS in the high school common science.

Exploring Reasoning Patterns of Students' Scientific Thinking, Inquiry Activities in Textbook, and Examination Items

  • Scientific reasoning is one of the main concerns in current science education. This study have tried to answer on the question whether Korean science education has the potential to help improve of students' ability to think scientifically. Therefore, the present study investigated the relationship between reasoning patterns evident in science textbook and science examination items, and students' scientific reasoning skills across grades in Korea. 1975 subjects (1022 females and 953 males) were administered in the Lawson's Test of Scientific Reasoning skills. Forty seven science textbooks and 240 assessment instrument were analyzed by several scientific reasoning keys. Scientific reasoning patterns were adopted from Lawson's classification which characterized the patterns as the empirical-inductive and the hypothetical-deductive. This study found that reasoning patterns evident in textbook analyses and assessment instrumental items do not evidentce the potential to stimulate the development of students' reasoning skill. In order to improve the students' abilities to think and achieve, higher levels of reasoning must be included in the science textbook and examination. Further, some of scientific reasoning processes, such as generating hypotheses, designing experiments, and logical prediction, were not found in science textbooks and test items in Korean secondary schools. This study also discussed the educational implication of these results and further studies about to develop student's reasoning ability.

초.중등학교 과학교과서(생물영역)의 식물 분류 체계에 관한 연구 (An Study on Plant Classification System as Described in the Science Textbook of Elementary and Secondary School)

  • 초 중등학교의 과학(생물 영역)교과서의 분류 체계를 조사 검토하여 학교 급간별 인지 발달 수준에 맞는 식물 분류 개념 및 체계의 위계성 및 계열성에 대한 방향성을 모색하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 초등학교의 슬기로운 생활과 자연 교과서의 교과 내용은 생물을 식물계와 동물계로 구분하고, 식물을 크기와 사는 장소로 구분하여 학습 내용을 전개하였다. 학생들의 식물 개념은 꽃 위주로 형성되어 있어 꽃이 피는 식물과 꽃이 안 피는 식물로 분류하여 학습 내용을 구성하여야 할 것이다. 2. 중학교 과정은 생물계를 식물계와 동물계의 2계로, 고등학교에서는 식물계, 동물계와 원생생물계의 3계로 구분하나 원핵생물계, 균계, 원생생물계, 식물계, 동물계의 5계로 제시해 주어야 할 것이다. 중등학교의 분류의 개념은 종의 특징을 기술한 각론 위주로 구성되나 전반적인 특징, 분류 기준, 분류방법등 총론 위주로 구성되어야 할 것이다. 고등학교에서는 조류(algae)에 편중되어 있으나 고등식물인 종자식물 위주로 구성되어야 할 것이다.

2007 개정 및 2009 개정 중등 과학 및 고등학교 화학 교과서의 MBL 실험 분석 (Analysis of MBL Experiments from the Korean Secondary Science and Chemistry Textbooks Based on 2007 and 2009 Revision)

  • 이 연구에서는 2007 개정 및 2009 개정 중등 과학 교과서 및 화학 교과서를 중심으로 교과서에 수록된 MBL(microcomputer-based laboratory) 실험을 교육과정 시기, 대상 학년, 실험이 제시된 맥락, 내용 영역, 주제, 사용된 센서, 그리고 출판사 등의 측면에서 분류하고 그 특징을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, MBL 실험은 2007 개정 교육과정기의 경우에는 중학교 과학 교과서에서만 25번 제시되었고, 2009 개정 교육과정기의 경우에는 과학 및 화학 I, II 교과서를 통틀어 29회(중학교 19회, 고등학교 10회) 제시되었다. 전체적으로는 교육과정 개정 이후 중학교 과학 교과서에 MBL 실험은 증가하지 않은 반면, 고등학교 교과서에는 처음으로 제시되었다. MBL 실험은 중학교 1학년에 가장 많이 제시되었고, 선택탐구보다는 필수탐구에 주로 포함 되었다. 센서 중에서는 운동 센서와 온도 센서가 가장 많이 사용되었고, 그 다음으로는 산소와 이산화탄소 센서가 많이 사용되었다. 출판사별 분석에서는 전체적으로는 사용 빈도가 감소하였고, 일부 출판사의 교과서에서는 MBL 실험이 단 한번도 사용되지 않았다. 이 결과들을 바탕으로 교육적 함의를 논의하였다.

중등 환경 교과서와 10학년 과학 교과서의 공통 내용 분석 (Content Analysis of Secondary School Environmental Education Textbooks and 10th Grade Science Textbooks)

  • This study aims to analyze the science content in secondary school environmental education(EE) textbooks and the environment-related content in secondary school science text- books. Firstly, a total of 73 EE and science textbooks for secondary students were reviewed, which three kinds of textbooks, secondary school EE textbooks and the 10th grade "Science" textbooks, were finally selected for analysis. Three researchers separately analyzed the textbooks using NAAEE framework(1996) for the development of EE materials. In condition that there was a disagreement in their opinion, they had discussed until they came to an agreement. The results showed that secondary school EE textbooks contained more and deeper science concepts than the 10th grade "Science" textbooks, which were evaluated better in all perspectives of the analysis framework. The 10th grade "Science" textbooks had more various teaching and learning activities than EE textbooks. It it expected that the new EE textbook developers should consider the ultimate goal of EE which focused the affective perspectives rather than the cognitive perspectives.
