Objective : This single-subject study explored the effect of short-term intensive sensory integration therapy program which was provided in a 2006 sensory integration treatment course on adaptive response of a four-year-girl with sensory modulation disorder(mixed pattern). Method : Based on results of the assessment to the child, her therapist offers an organized sensory integration program during four days. Results : Improvement of child's movement quality and variety in physical environment in therapy rooms and interaction with her therapist were observed. Conclusions : This report of the case will be helpful for occupational therapists who plan to intervent with a short-term intensive sensory integration therapy program. In addition, the need for consideration of consultation with the child's parents is discussed.

Objective : Korean Academy of Sensory Integration(KASI) planned and executed sensory integration Therapy Camp to serve intensive sensory integration program for children with the sensory integrative dysfunction, to support their family with parent' education and home programs, and to suggest practical guideline for therapists through individual supervision and demonstrations. Methods : The camp was held during 5days in the children's center for developmental support that set up sensory integration tools. The camp executed the individual and group interventions that consisted of 7 children with sensory integrative dysfunction, especially dyspraxia and 7 therapists who manage them and 6 supervisors. Results : Children which served the intensive intervention showed the improved adaptive responses during the camp and their parents reported the satisfaction degree of the camp program was 83%. Their therapists also had a chance to understand the broader sensory integrative interventions through the supervision. Conclusion : To provide the clients for qualitative sensory integration service, the camp must be programmed that children with the sensory integrative dysfunction can service the intensive sensory integration program and their therapists can actually experience reeducation individually through supervision and demonstrations.

To make up extended and intensive sensory integration program, Korean Society of Sensory Integration Therapist(KSSIT) planned and practiced sensory integration camp. Camp were held during 5 days and 7 children with sensory integrative dysfunction were participated in the camp. COPM, Sensory profile, STEP-SI and interview were used for deciding the therapy goals. For preparing the camp, therapists did seminars, discussion and get advices form specialists in US and Japan. Through the camp, as the theme, not only children and parents got the chance of challenging but also therapists challenged by themselves. For this camp KSSIT expected to build up more effective sensory integrative program and research.

Objective : The objective of this case study is to search the effects of sensory integration treatment. First we have taken a child with a cerebral palsy and given him/her sensory integration treatment. Then, we intended to look into whether the child performed his daily-life tasks and how satisfactory the parents were with the treatment. Methods : We have chosen a child with a cerebral palsy and tested his sensory integration functions. Applying the 30 minutes-sensory integration treatment twenty times to the child, we compared the result of the treatment using Canadian Occupational Performance Measure. We counseled the parents of the child before and after the treatment. Results : We have rated the problems with the degrees of importance referring to the parents. Important problems include controlling eliminations, having meals, moving by self, interacting with peer groups, and performing delicate hand-movements. The score of the in the performance is 1.2 and the score of the degree in the satisfaction is 1.4 compared with the total score. Conclusion : We have concluded that the sensory integration treatment has the effective result to the daily-life task performances of a child with a cerebral palsy, a kind of sensory integration dysfunction and satisfies the child's parents after this case study.

The significant historical events and developments in the area of approach for sensory integration in Korean Society of Sensory Integration Therapists(KSSIT) are reviewed to stimulate future planning and clinical application in professional and health promotion. The paper reviewed the purposes of establishment, the role of members, progress of regular meetings and education for members and seminars in KSSIT. This review is placed within the context of the progressive period of KSSIT history, 1997-2003. Historical data are used as primary sources as records of events in KSSIT's homepage, official transcripts, professional articles, and secondary sources such as news letters for occupational therapists and oral information from first members. This review examined current actions and thinking, and suggests further actions and thinking for progressive professional education programs, research, clinical applications and public relations in sensory integration approach in KSSIT.

Introduction : This study presents a case report of a child with sensory integration dysfunction(mixed sensory modulation disorder and dyspraxia), and describes strategy of the sensory integration intervention to encourage child's inner drive and the change of adaptive response. Main Subject : The subject was a boy, age 5 years and 10 months, who participated in short-term intensive sensory integration therapy program which was provided in a 2008 sensory integration treatment course. Based on results of assessment to the child, This study identifies the treatment goals, contents of treatment and analyze adaptive response' change of four therapy sessions. Conclusion : This case report demonstrates improvement of the adaptive response by sensory integration intervention and impotent to encourage the child's inner drive. However, subjective date, which is sensory integration may produce an effect that is evident during treatment sessions and in home environment have suggested.

Objective : To explore the effect of intensive sensory integration therapy through daily camp programs for children with sensory modulation disorder. Methods : A comparison of quantitative data and qualitative description between before and after sensory integration therapy camp and main outcome measure was used, including MAP behavior checklist, JSI-2, COPM, sensory history, STEP-SI. Results : The adaptive response was increased and sensory modulation problems were observed less than before the camp. Conclusion : For this study a more diverse, extended and intensive SI program is considered necessary. Further study is needed to develop these findings.

Purpose : This study aims to investigate occupational therapy students' perceptions of sensory integration therapy and the effect of an educational program on these perceptions and future preferences. Methods : The participants were 200 occupational therapy students in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do. A primary survey was first conducted to shed light on students' perceptions of sensory integration therapy, followed by an education program on sensory integration provided through an online video. After this training on sensory integration therapy, an additional survey assessed the their preferred employment routes and intention to take educational courses on clinical sensory integration therapy in the future. A secondary survey was then conducted, using the same form as the primary survey, to identify changes in the students' perceptions of and preferences for sensory integration therapy. A frequency analysis using descriptive statistics was employed to identify the participants' general characteristics, employment-related preferences, and intention to take courses on sensory integration, and a paired samples t-test was used for a comparative analysis of the students' perceptions before and after the education program. Results : In terms of the students' perceptions of sensory integration therapy, the variables of efficiency, facilitation, and expertise showed statistically significant differences before and after the educational program, which resulted in a positive change in their overall perceptions of the therapy after the program. In relation to their preferred employment routes after the program, 100 students (50 %) answered the "field of adults," and 100 (50 %) students answered the "field of children." Conclusion : The findings of this study demonstrated that sensory integration education positively influences occupational therapy students' preferences for and perceptions of sensory integration therapy. Additional research is recommended to organize a more systematic education program and investigate employees in organizations related to children with disabilities.

Objective : Korean Academy of Sensory Integration(KASI) planned and executed intensive sensory integration treatment course for children with the sensory integrative dysfunction and therapists, to suggest practical guideline for therapists through individual supervision, lecture, simulation therapy, observation, case study and free play etc. Method : The course was held during 5days in the children's center for developmental support that set up sensory integration tools. The course executed the 4 individual interventions, 1 simulation therapy, 1 observation, 4 free play sessions that consisted of 6 children with sensory integrative dysfunction and 6 therapists who manage them and 3 supervisors and 2 managers. Results : Their parents reported the satisfaction degree of the treatment course service was above 84%. Therapists also had a chance to understand the broader sensory integrative interventions through the supervision and various educational programs. Conclusions : Intensive treatment course can provide parents and therapists with satisfaction of the programs. Therapists can especially experience reeducation individually through supervision and lectures.

Objective : To summarize and interpret observations of responses of child with sensory modulation disorder during four therapy sessions in order to contribute to future studies. Method : Analyze treatment goals and strengths and weaknesses of four therapy sessions and discuss implications of therapy. Results : Child's adaptive responses were improved throughout the therapy sessions. Conclusions : Intensive sensory integration therapy is needed continuously. Future study with this participant is needed to explore more effectiveness of sensory integration therapy.
