The cut-slope of a large-sectional tunnel portal is recognized as a potential area of weakness due to unstable stress distribution and possible permanent displacement. This paper presents a case study of a slope failure and remediation for a large-scale cut-slope at a tunnel portal. Extensive rock-slope brittle failure occurred along discontinuities in the rock mass after 46 mm of rainfall, which caused instability of the upper part of the cut-slope. Based on a geological survey and face mapping, the reason for failure is believed to be the presence of thin clay fill in discontinuities in the weathered rock mass and consequent saturationinduced joint weakening. The granite-gneiss rock mass has a high content of alkali-feldspar, indicating a vulnerability to weathering. Immediately before the slope failure, a sharp increase in displacement rate was indicated by settlement-time histories, and this observation can contribute to the safety management criteria for slope stability. In this case study, emergency remediation was performed to prevent further hazard and to facilitate reconstruction, and counterweight fill and concrete filling of voids were successfully applied. For ultimate remediation, the grid anchor-blocks were used for slope stabilization, and additional rock bolts and grouting were applied inside the tunnel. Limit-equilibrium slope stability analysis and analyses of strereographic projections confirmed the instability of the original slope and the effectiveness of reinforcing methods. After the application of reinforcing measures, instrumental monitoring indicated that the slope and the tunnel remained stable. This case study is expected to serve as a valuable reference for similar engineering cases of large-sectional slope stability.
The new airports apply the systematic runway foundation construction to build the high quality runways in order to take the leading position to win future aerial demands and stay ahead of competitors. This study is intended to supplement the weakness of existing standard compaction test to minimize residual settlement of lower weak foundation during operation of passenger berthage. The fill material was sampled from 4 construction sites using the fill material with diameter of 100mm or less, and the standard compacting test (KS F 2312), large circular mold compacting test, and water-replacement field density test (ASTM D 5030) were conducted. The regression analysis of correlation of the field density test and the standard indoor compaction test showed the unreliable value at P-value of 0.05, and the regression analysis of the field density test and the large indoor compaction test showed the high correlation with R value of 0.8878. It is judged that the construction of overall uniform quality can be assured as the site condition is truly reflected only if the compacting test method is selected in consideration of maximum size of fill material when evaluating the maximum dry density used in design and construction.

As the result of the consumers in the 21st century having more classified and upgraded way of living thanks to the settlement of the above-mentioned lifestyle and the enlargement of the leisure sports culture, there has appeared the wellness kin, who value the importance of life and the nature and believe in the idea that they can reconstruct the environment in the way they can enjoy their lifestyle and pursue happiness. They favor healthy fashion items and think much of exercise, nutrition, and rest. They pursue the natural and comfortable style, whose ideas came from simple exercises such as health training and yoga and the easy and comfortable look observed at resorts. Their fashion style can be divided into three of fitness fashion, yoga fashion and resort fashion. First, the boxer fashion is characterized by the relaxing design and practicality. The major items of the fashion include running shirt-styled upper clothes, training pants, hooded shirts and sneakers. Simple and comfortable look should be induced from the combination of the items. Second, the yoga fashion was motivated by the comfortable yoga wear. It advocates stress-free spirit and comfortable and stable naturalism. In short, the study attempted to investigate many trends occurring as the result of human recent increasing interest and concern in the quality of life, and the impacts of them on the fashion world. This kind of research that examines the background of the times and society will help to grasp with the fashion trends of the present and the future. And more studies should be conducted on the development of new and original design in clothes fashion, which reflects the characteristics identified in this kind of research.
In regards to museum planning of Korea, it is mainly depending on overseas cases and relevant domestic books without systematic guideline on the space programme in a museum. Therefore, it is urgently required to establish systematic index as it is incapable of proposing detailed analysis and index in accordance with each element. As various problems occurred due to above reason, total floor area of museum was divided by the area of exhibition section, storage section, research section, and public & other area and its ratio was calculated for statistics targeting 614 museums built after 1990's when many public museums were built with the settlement of local self-governing system and the type of museums was diversified. It was again classified into 4 elements of period, region, scale, and type and then the influence of each element on each section of museum was understood through integrated analysis. First, looking into the space programme in regards to total floor area, the floor area ratio of exhibition section, storage section, and research section decreased and the floor area ratio of public & other area increased with the increase in total floor area. It was because not only rest area but also a space to enjoy various cultures, gaining new experience, and accumulate knowledge is located in public & other area. Second, it was revealed that the ratio of exhibition section and storage section has been decreasing since 1990's and ratio of research section and public & other area has been increasing as they can play various roles such as the education and convenience to satisfy cultural desires of visitor in accordance with current trend. Third, it was proved that floor area ratio of exhibition section is lower than storage section in museums located in highly urbanized region. In addition to this, it was revealed that the floor area ratio of research section is in proportion to the population density. As a result of study, significant relation was displayed in scale, era, and region among 4 elements thus it could be utilized as reference for the space programme of domestic museum planning in the future.
For the purchase of a cheaper product on the Internet, many customers have been trying to search online shopping mall sites and visit comparison-pricing shops that compare prices and other criteria of the product. Others have been participating into online auction markets or group-buying markets. However, a lot of online shopping malls, auction markets, and group-buying markets provide the same product with different prices. Since these marketplaces have different price settlement mechanism, it is very difficult for the customers to determine marketplace to purchase, considering different kinds of marketplaces at the same time. To overcome such limitations, decision rules and solution procedures for purchase decision making are necessary, which can cover multiple marketplaces simultaneously. For this purpose, purchase decision making in each market must be conducted to maximize customer's utility, and conflicts with other marketplaces must be resolved. Therefore, we have developed the rules and methods that can negotiate cooperatively the purchase decision making in several marketplaces, and designed an architecture of Intelligent Buyer Agent and a message structure to support the idea.

Contrary to urban development, urban regeneration is a process of land development through conservation, restoration, and management. In particular, ecologically based urban regeneration is an attempt to improve the quality of life in an area, establish a stable settlement space, and revitalize the local economy by considering the ecological environment. In this regard, the objectives of this study were to establish theoretical concepts and analyze the successful foreign cases of ecologically based urban regeneration, and propose a direction of socio-economic regeneration along with the physical-environmental regeneration of urban areas in Korea. The study results suggest the following. First, strategies must be developed to coordinate public transportation, such as buses and subways, by considering the importance of bicycle riders, along with the sustainable-commuting system. Second, both the importance of planning parks and trails around water systems in various scales while maintaining the existing natural environment as well as using natural elements, such as electric vehicles and wind-power generation systems, were emphasized. Third, urban regeneration for increased energy efficiency requires specific architectural planning and facilities. Fourth, education and research for easy access by the public, as well as public-private partnership, will be needed in the regeneration process.

The provision of information on the profitability and efficiency during the transition from growing rice to substitute crops is an essential task for the proliferation and settlement of the production adjustment system. First, the profitability of the soybean + barley cropping system was analyzed. The average income of the farms with the soybean + barley cropping system surveyed was 868,000 Won, with an income proportion of 55.1%. With earned income that is approximately 1.7 times higher than that of growing only rice, it is determined to be more profitable. Then, the efficiency of the farms was analyzed through DEA analysis. The efficiencies of the farms were found to include the CCR model (0.927815) and the BCC model (0.97544). It was also found that there are 10 CCR and 14 BCC results with an efficiency value of 1. With an efficiency value of more than 0.9 on average, it can be deemed as efficient management in general. In addition, by presenting a proposal for the improvement of inefficient farms, the target value was provided in order for inefficient farms to become efficient farms.

An information management system for a solid waste landfill site was developed, in this study, to optimize the operation and management of solid waste landfill in real time in addition to provide the information of landfill status to the landfill operator, public official concerned and local residents. The landfill information management system is composed of two systems (Solid waste landfill history management system and landfill operation and performance management system). The solid waste landfill history management system based on automated RFID/LPR system allows landfill operators to provide information of waste collection vehicles and received waste. In addition, the system aids in the identification of 3-dimensional (3D) position for landfilled solid wastes. Using the landfill operation and performance management system based on 3D laser scanner delivers information about landfill volume, settlement, landfill density, and current landfill capacity to landfill operators in real time, resulting in optimum space utilization. Ultimately, this system would dramatically reduce exposure of landfill operators to hazardous materials and improve the productivity of landfill operations.
Mussels are major fouling organisms causing serious technical and economic problems. In this study, antifouling activity towards mussel was found in three compounds isolated from a marine bacterium associated with the sea anemone Haliplanella sp. This bacterial strain, called PE2, was identified as Vibrio alginolyticus using morphology, biochemical tests, and phylogenetic analysis based on sequences of 16S rRNA and four housekeeping genes (rpoD, gyrB, rctB, and toxR). Three small-molecule compounds (indole, 3-formylindole, and cyclo (Pro-Leu)) were purified from the ethyl acetate extract of V. alginolyticus PE2 using column chromatography techniques. They all significantly inhibited byssal thread production of the green mussel Perna viridis, with $EC_{50}$ values of $24.45{\mu}g/ml$ for indole, $50.07{\mu}g/ml$ for 3-formylindole, and $49.24{\mu}g/ml$ for cyclo (Pro-Leu). Previous research on the antifouling activity of metabolites from marine bacteria towards mussels is scarce. Indole, 3-formylindole and cyclo (Pro-Leu) also exhibited antifouling activity against settlement of the barnacle Balanus albicostatus ($EC_{50}$ values of 8.84, 0.43, and $11.35{\mu}g/ml$, respectively) and the marine bacterium Pseudomonas sp. ($EC_{50}$ values of 42.68, 69.68, and $39.05{\mu}g/ml$, respectively). These results suggested that the three compounds are potentially useful for environmentally friendly mussel control and/or the development of new antifouling additives that are effective against several biofoulers.
In recent times, increasing is the number of civic participation government policy decision models through the application of the service design process. For solving out such a problem, civic participation policy service design has been under way in the name of 'National Design Group' led by the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs starting 2014. A sharing village is a village community in a broad sense for the purpose of giving effect to sharing economy, aiming to maintain sustainability through sharing consciousness raising between village members, coexistence and cooperation. This study presented a solution to the 3 sorts of city problems, i.e. sharing village, urban generation and youth employment settlement in combination by grasping the problems of the existing sharing village, and using service design method Toolkit However, there needs to be a follow-up research through continuous verification, and improvement of problems for the time to come because the casual relationship between research subjects is extensive, and this study has limitations in the satisfaction survey for verifying the result satisfaction, which individual subjects have, consequent on the suggestion of the way of solution, and the research period as well.
