The purpose of this paper is to find out the applicability of relationship marketing concept in a professional ship management context primarily on ship management service business. The dramatic growth in ship management industry leads to the intensified competition among professional ship management companies in the world. Thus they have tried to find out ways of ensuring competitiveness to be a market leader in this industry. The fundamental base of marketing is that it involves exchanges. Professional ship management involves a series of transactions and exchanges between client and ship manager. Ship management companies will ensure competitiveness by applying the concept of relationship marketing to real practices.

Domestic ship management was extended by the growth of the shipping industry. It is time to specialize and globalize ship management not simply deploying seaman but managing ship owners' properties. This paper analyzes the reasons that Japanese ship management, which has been influenced ship management business in Korea, could not own the international level of companies and suggests the decline model of Japanese ship management business. Finally This paper provides the successful model of ship management business in Korea and the way to convert into the model.

This paper aims to empirically explore how the partnership between the two industries influences on the satisfaction of ship management companies. In addition, this paper intends to provide relevant information to enhance the competitiveness of ship repair companies by revealing the causalities of variations consisting of the partnership between ship management companies and ship repair companies. It revealed what characteristics are embedded in the partnership between ship management companies, and how the consisting factors of this partnership influences on satisfaction throughout prior factors. And this paper explored the variables that influence on the satisfaction of ship repair companies.

In the development process of new naval ships, it is necessary to make the effort of the signature management and reduction of ship infrared(IR) signature to increase the ship survivability(susceptibility). So far the ship's contrast radiant intensity is used as a ship IR signature design criteria during the naval ship design stages. However, nowaday it is in a state of disorder at the basic design stage because of the lack of any related studies and methods. In this study, the IR signature management methods for improving the signature reduction and ship survivability are suggested by the comparison analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of signature management techniques. And also the criteria for the ship signature management are suggested when considering the infrared signature measuring assets and sea trial environments of the Korean peninsula.

On this research, recognizing that ship inspection and audit services are closely related in Improving ship safety, the importance of active quality managements of ship inspection and audit services have been notified. For this research, based on previous research results, Quality managements of ship inspection and audit services were divided into the following aspects; the source of quality managements, execution of quality managements and outcome of quality managements. The results of this study is as follows. Overall, it is clearly shown that the elements of quality managements execution such as management responsibilities, resource management., product realization, measurement and analyzation, and improvement had also acted as a mediator between the relation of quality managements source and outcome.

The specific goal of the SMS (Ship Management System) is to increate ship safety and decrease maintenance fee. Equipment of ship is managed by PMS (Planned Management System), subsystem of SMS. But hull has not managed by ship manager. So, the Classes have developed the system for hull maintenance. Recently, the ship maintenance system has been developed for satisfying operator's requirements such as managing maintenance data as integrated platform, intuitive manipulation and design for ease of use. To reflect such requirement, 3D Model based maintenance system was introduced for ship in operation stage. Hull items that have to be inspected, repaired, replaced, are stored in integrated data platform with drawing, reports, and etc. and completely linked to 3D product Model. This system is specially developed for measurement and maintenance of hull thickness.

Based on the analysis of the functions of ship management company, this paper aims to explore how to build the platform to transmit anti process the information about ships by means of modern information management so as to solve a series of problems caused by blockages in information transmitting in present ship’s management. The paper also talks about the necessity of establishing various resource bases and using different information communicating methods to realize the resource sharing and intellectualization of ship’s business.

This is a study for international competitiveness analysis if korea ship management service using the collected data from the fields in industry. making a comparison if ship management company between domestic ones in Korea and mutinational ones in international market is more suitable for it's purpose. but competitiveness level of korean ship management companies are too low to compare. Therefore in this study, ship management devision in Korea overseas shipping companies are selected as a target of camparision and the representative of Korea ship management industry. The analysis of competitiveness is divided by price competition and non-price competition. The former is consist of element likes as crew management cost, dry-docking cost, repair cos, stores & spares cost, lubricants cost and management free cost, The later os consist of element like as quality of sea & shore personnel, efficiency of company's organization, ability of management system. qualifications & certifications, know -hoe for the ship management, structure of control & support ship and office automation & IT system. According to this analysis the ship management division in korean shipping companied are superior to the foreign specialized ship management companies generally. So, it is necessary that korea ship management industry attempt level-up continously and expand into international ship management market positively.

A shipping operation broadly breaks down into: the acquisition of the ship, securing income from the ships, operating the ships, and running the business. For all ships these functions have to be performed. But most important thing is whether it is a better option for some or all these activities to be undertaken by a third party manager rather than resource them in-house or not. However, the size of ship management market has been increasing continuously over the last decades to achieve cost-savings. The ship management is considered as creating high added value and contributing to national economic growth. This paper will analyzes development trends of ship management and market, and carry out comparative studies with Korean ship management companies and an empirical studies on selection criteria of ship management firms. In doing so, some implications and alternatives will be suggested in order for Korean ship management companies to create high added value and gain international competitive edge.
