  • This dissertation proposes digital video protection algorithm lot moving image based on MPEG. Shuffling-based encryption algorithms using a fixed random shuffling table are quite simple and effective but vulnerable to the chosen plaintext attack. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to change the key used for generation of the shuffling table. However, this may pose a significant burden on the security key management system. A better approach is to generate the shuffling table based on the local feature of an image. In order to withstand the chosen plaintext attack, at first, we propose a interleaving algorithm that is adaptive to the local feature of an image. Secondly, using the multiple shuffling method which is combined interleaving with existing random shuffling method, we encrypted the DPCM processed 8*8 blocks. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm needs only 10% time of SEED encryption algorithm and moreover there is no overhead bit. In video sequence encryption, multiple random shuffling algorithms are used to encrypt the DC and AC coefficients of intra frame, and motion vector encryption and macroblock shuffling are used to encrypt the intra-coded macroblock in predicted frame.

  • In this paper, we propose a digital image encryption method using adaptive interleaving and multiple random shuffling table to improve the existing encryption methods which use a fixed random shuffling table. In order to withstand the plaintext attack, at first, we propose a interleaving method that is adaptive to the local feature of image. Secondly, using the proposed interleaving only shuffling method and multiple shuffling method that is combined interleaving with existing random shuffling method, we encrypted image by shuffled the DPCM processed $8^*8$ blocks. Experimental results show that, the proposed algorithm is very robust to plaintext attack and there is no overhead bit.

  • Shuffling is an effective method to build a publicly verifiable mix network to implement verifiable anonymous channels that can be used for important cryptographic applications like electronic voting and electronic cash. One shuffling scheme by Groth is claimed to be secure and efficient. However, its soundness has not been formally proven. An attack against the soundness of this shuffling scheme is presented in this paper. Such an attack compromises the soundness of the mix network based on it. Two new shuffling protocols are designed on the basis of Groth's shuffling and batch verification techniques. The first new protocol is not completely sound, but is formally analyzed in regards to soundness, so it can be applied to build a mix network with formally proven soundness. The second new protocol is completely sound, so is more convenient to apply. Formal analysis in this paper guarantees that both new shuffling protocols can be employed to build mix networks with formally provable soundness. Both protocols prevent the attack against soundness in Groth's scheme. Both new shuffling protocols are very efficient as batch-verification-based efficiency-improving mechanisms have been adopted. The second protocol is even simpler and more elegant than the first one as it is based on a novel batch cryptographic technique.

  • A new antenna shuffling scheme for double space time transmit diversity is proposed. The proposed method obtains the shuffling pattern directly from the estimated channel by maximizing minimum post-processing signal to noise ratio(SNR), while the conventional method minimizes channel correlation. Since the minimum post-processing SNR is directly related with error performance, the proposed method shows better bit error rate performance than the conventional method. Monte Carlo simulations showed that the proposed scheme has more 3 dB SNR gain than the conventional scheme for 10/sup -3/ bit error rate in spatially correlated fadingcaused by a single cluster model.

  • Existing methods for optimization of sequences by random mutagenesis generate libraries with a small number of mostly deleterious mutations, resulting in libraries containing a large fraction of non-functional clones that explore only a small part of sequence space. Large numbers of clones need to be screened to find the rare mutants with improvements. Library display formats are useful to screen very large libraries but impose screening limitations that limit the value of this approach for most commercial applications. By contrast, in both classical breeding and in DNA shuffling, natural diversity is permutated by homologous recombination, generating libraries of very high quality, from which improved clones can be identified with a small number of complex screens. Given that this small number of screens can be performed under the conditions of actual use of the product, commercially relevant improvements can be reliably obtained.

  • In the screening of marine mangrove derived fungi for lovastatin productivity, endophytic Aspergillus luchuensis MERV10 exhibited the highest lovastatin productivity (9.5 mg/gds) in solid state fermentation (SSF) using rice bran. Aspergillus luchuensis MERV10 was used as the parental strain in which to induce genetic variabilities after application of different mixtures as well as doses of mutagens followed by three successive rounds of genome shuffling. Four potent mutants, UN6, UN28, NE11, and NE23, with lovastatin productivity equal to 2.0-, 2.11-, 1.95-, and 2.11-fold higher than the parental strain, respectively, were applied for three rounds of genome shuffling as the initial mutants. Four hereditarily stable recombinants (F3/3, F3/7, F3/9, and F3/13) were obtained with lovastatin productivity equal to 50.8, 57.0, 49.7, and 51.0 mg/gds, respectively. Recombinant strain F3/7 yielded 57.0 mg/gds of lovastatin, which is 6-fold and 2.85-fold higher, respectively, than the initial parental strain and the highest mutants UN28 and NE23. It was therefore selected for the optimization of lovastatin production through improvement of SSF parameters. Lovastatin productivity was increased 32-fold through strain improvement methods, including mutations and three successive rounds of genome shuffling followed by optimizing SSF factors.

  • In this paper, we propose wavelet transform image compression method such that an image is decomposed into multiresolutions using biorthogonal wavelet transform with linear phase response property and decomposed subbands are classified by maximum classification gain. The classified data is quantized by allocating bits in accordance with classified class informations within subbands through arbitrary set bit allocation algorithm. And then, quantized data in each subband are entropy coded. The proposed coding method is that the quantized data perform shuffling before entropy coding in order to remove sign bit plane. And the context is assigned by maximum correlation direction for bit plane coding.

  • Until now, Side Channel Attack has been known to be effective to crack decrypt key such as smart cards, electronic passports and e-ID card based on Chip. Combination of Masking and shuffling methods have been proposed practical countermeasure. Newly, S.Tillich suggests biased-mask using template attack(TA) to attack AES with masking and shuffling. However, an additional assumption that is acquired template information previously for masking value is necessary in order to apply this method. Moreover, this method needs to know exact time position of the target masking value for higher probability of success. In this paper, we suggest new practical method called Biasing Power Analysis(BPA) to find a secret key of AES based on masking-shuffling method. In BPA, we don't use time position and template information from masking value. Actually, we do experimental works of BPA attack to 128bit secret key of AES based on masking-shuffling method performed MSP430 Chip and we succeed in finding whole secret key. The results of this study will be utilized for next-generation ID cards to verify physical safety.

  • A family shuffling associating PCR-based and in vitro recombination and expression in Escherichia coli cdd mutant was carried out. Two cdd genes encoding cytidine deaminases (CDase) from thermophilic Bacillus caldolyticus and B. stearothermophilus were shuffled. Around 150 viable mutant colonies screened on AB minimal medium without uracil by E. coli cdd complementation were selected for cytidine deaminase assay and 4 candidates (SH1067, SH1077, SH1086, and SH1118) were chosen for the detailed study. The nucleotide sequence analyses of 4 selected mutants revealed that they have several point mutations and recombinations. Surprisingly, the SH 1067 showed 770 fold more specific CDase activity at $80^{\circ}C$ than that of T101 from parental B. stearothermophilus.
