The Analysis of HVDC Cable Oil Swelling Characteristics on the Silicone Rubber (HVDC 절연유 중에서 Silicone Rubber의 팽윤특성 분석)

  • This work examines the effects of swelling MI type HVDC cable oil on the semiconductive silicone rubber and silicone rubber as used in accessories for application on outdoor termination (EBA) slip on sleeve. The behavior of volume resistivity is monitored as a function of the amount of cable oil diffused into the material. Resistivities of semiconductive silicone samples up to the typical insulator range (${\sim}10^{10}{\Omega}-cm$) are observed as a consequence of swelling due to the presence of the diffused oil. The measured volume resistivities of the oil-impregnated semiconductive silicone rubber are compared to desired value as function of stress relief cone.

  • Silicone insulators have many advantages over porcelain insulators. Especially silicone insulators have good characteristics of impact hardness, surface insulation, ease of processing, mass productivity and don't have risk of bombardment and vandalism. Recently insulation part made by silicone are becoming widely used. In this paper we introduce the development of Sealing End for 132kV XLPE cable with silicone composite hollow insulator and the adoption of it to a actual transmission line in abroad. This paper contains of design procedure, structure, electrical performance of it.

  • Recently developed liquid silicone rubber (LSR) can be cured by platinum catalyzed additional hydrosilylation mechanism and has the advantage of no byproduct compared to traditional millable peroxide curing silicone rubber. We investigated the characteristics of dielectric breakdown of silicone rubber and adhesion properties between semi-conductive LSR and insulating LSR for high voltage application of pre-molded joint (PMJ). In order to understand the dielectric breakdown characteristics, we used the sheet samples and the paired type rogowski insert electrode system. The breakdown strength and adhesion strength of LSR (E-3) were superior to those of several silicone rubbers. Adhesion strength could be improved by curing at high temperature without post-curing process or enhanced by post-curing process. When LSR (E-3) was cured at $(150^{\circ}C{\times}10min$ semi-conductive )${\times}$ ($175^{\circ}C{\times}10min$ insulation), it showed the high breakdown strength with low standard deviation, and good adhesion strength. In this results, we could apply this process to the fabrication of PMJ without post-curing.

A Study on Degradation Properties of Silicone Cable due to Partial Discharge (부분 방전에 의한 실리콘 케이블의 열화 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the characteristics of partial discharge was measured for the four core silicone cable (0.6/1.0 kV, $1.0SQ{\times}4C$) with insulated part of 15 cm and conductor of 1cm. The following results have been confirmed as a result of this study. When the first line of cable is connected to the positive electrode and the second, third line of cable is connected to the negative electrode, it found that the inception voltage and extinction voltage decreased with increasing the line of negative electrode, and the partial discharge charge quantity(Q) increases, while the number of discharge occurrence has decreased. The inception voltage and extinction voltage of partial discharge has decreased with increasing the degradation rate in the 33%, 67%, 100%. Also, it confirmed that the partial discharge charge quantity(Q) and the number of discharge occurrence has decreased.

  • The outdoor polymeric insulating materials such as silicone rubber, ethylene propylene diene monomer(EPDM), ethylene vinyl acetate(EVA) and epoxy are aged by various natural environment with the long-term performance in outdoor. In this paper, the effects of UV-ray on surface of silicone rubber were investigated by using the weather-Ometer. The accelerated aging stresses were simulated by UV radiation. high temperature and humidity as well as water spray. These the aging characteristics were examined through contact angle measurements, tracking resistance test, FT-IR and SEM/EDS analysis. the experimental results showed that tracking resistance decreases with increase in the UV-ray irradiation period. But the surface of silicone rubber kept hydrophobicity. It is found that the inorganic filler such as $Al(OH)_3$ improves tracking resistance and the $TiO_2$ is very effective in preventing degradation of silicone rubber surface from UV-ray.

  • This paper describes the results of characteristics on the tracking resistance, hydrophobicity and dielectric properties of silicone rubbers used for outdoor insulation with ozone ageing. The tracking and ozone ageing tests for this purpose ware made in according to IEC 587 and ASTM D 1149, respectively. Additionally, we investigated the surface structure of the silicone rubbers with FT-IR and SEM. From the test results, it is proven that the higher the degree of ozon ageing, the worse tracking characteristics.

  • This paper presents the results of performance evaluation of silicone treatment technique which was developed for the insulation rehabilitation of water tree aged XLPE power cables. We treated the water tree aged 325 [$\textrm{mm}^2$] CN/CV cables with silicone, and then analyzed the degree of insulation rehabilitation as a function of time. AC breakdown test was conducted to evaluate insulation rehabilitation. The diagnosis test using relaxation current measurement and the characteristic analysis of insulation were also performed to estimate silicone treated cable. AC breakdown strength of silicone treated cable for one year was increased, resulting from the chemical reaction between silicone fluid and water. This experiment showed that the silicone treatment technique was effective for insulation rehabilitation of the water tree aged cables.

  • The properties of a cable Insulate capacity between surfaces with the variation of the interfacial breakdown, the addition of silicon oil, the variation of pressure and interfacial roughness were investigated. The Insulate trouble of a power cable is out of the interfacial parts, which breakdown the insulate breakdown capacity in a power cable. In this study, the analysis of electric field and the phenomenon of interfacial breakdown were reported by varying the surfaces condition of silicon rubber, XLPE used for connection materials of a power cable.

  • 1968년 Phillips Petroleum사에 의해 개발된 LLDPE(linear low density polyethylene)는 저가이며 인장강도, 연신율 등의 뛰어난 기계적 물성으로 인해 각종 필름, 코팅제, Cable용으로 사용되고 있다. 일반적으로 LLDPE의 용융점은 12$0^{\circ}C$정도이나 이보다 매우 낮은 온도에서 연화되어 기계적 물성이 급격히 저하되므로 Coating재료, 단열Cable, 내열성 Film분야 등의 용도에는 사용상 제약을 받는다. 반면 Silicone은 난연성, 내열성, 내화학특성 및 전기절연성이 우수하여 공업재료로 널리 사용되지만 기계적물성, 저온취성, 고가인 단점이 있어 용도에 따라 일반재료로는 사용하기 어렵다.(중략)

  • We have investigated the surface state of 154kV polymeric insulators exposed to in-service conditions for about five years. In order to evaluate surface aging of silicone rubber exposed to real field environments, we used various analytic methods such as contact angle, ATR-FTIR, SEM-EDS. Although contaminants were accumulated on weathershed surface, polymeric insulator has retained its intrinsic surface hydrophocity. In addition, ATR-FTIR confirmed the diffusion layer of a low molecular weight silicone fluid on surface layer and no surface cracking and chalking were Indicated by SEM. Polymeric insulators have still retained their improved pollution performance over porcelain insulators. That will lead to very low frequency of flashovers throughout their useful life, often under contaminated conditions.
