Implementation of Smart Traffic Safety Systems using Fuzzy Theory

  • Traffic accidents due to excessive speed frequently occur in places where traffic signal controllers are installed, places where sharp curves exist, or places where the traffic signal cycle does not match the current time. These traffic accidents cause economic loss due to the destruction of road facilities and structures, and cause a big problem of increasing the number of traffic accident deaths. When a traffic accident occurs, leaving a tire mark before or after a car crash, pre-collision speed of the car is calculated using the law of conservation of momentum or the skid mark formula. In the skip skid mark generated in ABS brake vehicles and the combshaped yaw mark generated by tire trace caused by lateral sliding, there is a difference of 30-40% in the reliability of the vehicle speed calculated by the smite mark. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can improve the calculation reliability in vehicle speed by using skid marks in order to compensate for this problem. In addition, we present an intelligent speed calculation algorithm for traffic safety and a computer simulation in order to prevent traffic accidents by estimating the speed of a vehicle, using Skid marks, Yaw marks, and ABS brake characteristics and fuzzy rules.

  • Generally a RF AGC controls the roll gap using the variation of rolling force caused by the roll eccentricity and the entry thickness of material, but these can not be classified. The Feed- forward AGC method, which controls the next stand roll 9ap by estimation the skid mark of the previous stand output thickness is needed to supplement the shortage of RF AGC. In this paper, an improved filtering method of skid mark which take account of the kinds of materials, the final objective thickness and the roll speed is proposed, In addition, an improved estimation method of control point using the speedometer and looper angle is suggested, Via simulation, the performance improvement of the suggested FF AGC method is verified.

  • Skid mark and coefficient of friction are usually utilized to calculate the velocity and behavior of vehicles. For a critical case such as traffic accident reconstruction, however, the initial velocity of the car should be calculated precisely. In this study, in order to estimate the speed at the brake onset, rapid braking tests were executed on the proving ground. We compared with a skid length and wheel locking time of an expert driver and a general person. We verified that the skid mark of expert driver occurs longer than general person's. A new method is proposed to determine the speed of a vehicle at the brake onset of maximum braking, which could be applied to a reconstruction of vehicle with Non-ABS.

The Feed-forward (FF) AGC method, which controls the next stand roll gap by the estimation of the thickness variation due to skid mark is needed to supplement the shortage of RF AGC. In this paper, an adaptive filtering method which takes account of the kind of material, the final objective thickness and the rolling speed is proposed to predict skid mark thickness variation. In addition, an improved estimation method of control point using a speedometer and looper angle is suggested. Via on line test, the performance improvement of the suggested FF AGC method is verified.

  • This paper deals with a modified repetitive control method for compensating automatic gauge control (AGC) to reduce the effect of skid mark which directly influence the quality of products in plate mill process. Since the skid mark on the plate have thermal difference, it makes a different stretching rate and deflection of thickness. Firstly, the (AGC) system and the plate mill process are described by considering function in each control levels. The skid mark of the plate in practical control fields is shown. Also, its frequency variation is given by on-line FFT analysis method.   • 이 논문은 자동차의 급제동시 발생되는 스키드마크(skid mark, 활주거리)를 통해 제동직전 속도(Pre-braking Speed)를 정확히 산정하기 위한 방법론을 제시하고자 한다. 운전자는 전방에 위급한 상황이 전개되거나 불의의 사고에 처하게 되었을 경우 통상 급제동조치를 취하게 되며, 정지거리에 따라 사고를 당할 수도 있다. 자동차의 정지거리에 있어서 영향을 끼치는 요인은 운전자의 인지반응시간, 자동차 제동장치의 성능, 노면의 상태 등을 꼽을 수 있으나, 가장 중요한 요인은 제동직전 속도(Pre-Braking Speed)라고 할 수 있다. 현재 교통사고의 조사분야에서는 skid mark의 길이에 근거한 활주직전 속도(Preskidding Speed)를 산정하여 과속 여부를 판단하고 있으나, 정확한 사고원인 규명을 위해서는 불완전제동시간 동안 감속된 속도를 고려한 제동직전 속도의 산정이 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 교통사고시 자동차의 정확한 속도정보를 산정하기 위한 방법을 제안하고자 하며, 또한 이 연구가 향후 교통안전차원에서 자동차의 특성을 이해하는데 있어서 일조할 수 있기를 기대한다.

자동차 스키드마크 인식을 위한 FE-SM/SONN (The FE-SM/SONN for Recognition of the Car Skid Mark)

  • 본 논문은 차량이 급제동으로 인해 도로 위에 생성된 스키드마크와 같이 형태가 모호하게 나타난 영상을 인식하기 위해 FE-SM/SONN을 제안하였다. FE-SM/SONN은 타이어 트레드 패턴이 뭉개져서 나타나는 스키드마크 경우, 그 패턴이 모호한 영상으로 취득된다. 이를 인식하기 위해 퍼지 이론과 트레드 패턴의 특징을 이용한 자기 조직 신경망 인식기를 통해 스키드마크를 인식하는 방법이다. 이러한 실험을 위해 48개 타이어모델과 144개 스키드마크가 사용되었고, 전체 인식율은 89%이며, 비교 분석을 위해서는 기존 역전파 인식기에 비해 인식률 면에서 13.51%가 향상되었고, FE-MCBP에 비해 8.78% 향상을 보였다. 이 논문의 기대효과로는 모호한 영상의 특징을 추출하여 인식이 가능하였고, 트레드 패턴 영상이 그레이 영상으로 나타날 경우도 퍼지 이론에 의해 인식이 가능한 것으로 연구결과 나타났다.

제동 직전 자동차 주행 속도 추정에 관한 연구 (An Estimate of Vehicle Velocity of Braking Starting Point)

  • The transient brake time or distance is one of very important factors to guess the vehicle speed to inspect an automobile accident. But, it is usual that the vehicle speed is estimated by using only skid mark without considering the transient brake distance. Deceleration and the friction coefficients of tire and road surface play an important role in calculating the brake distance. In this paper, a scheme is presented to estimate more accurate automobile speed. The scheme contains the effect of the transient brake distance on the speed. Experiment was carried out on the asphalt, unpacked road to get relationships between the speeds and the skid mark distances, and to get the transient brake time. The experimental results were utilized to construct the equation to approximate more realistic vehicle speeds.

In this study, the skid marks on dry asphalt pavement were measured, and the velocity at brake onset was precisely recovered. A passenger car with new tires and non-contact optical speedometer were set up for the tests. A new methodology to determine the more precise velocity for Non-ABS vehicle at braking onset were suggested.

  • 교통사고가 발생 한 경우에 스키드마크는 자동차 속도 산출을 위해서 매우 중요한 요소이다. 객관적이고, 과학적인 수사를 위해, 교통 사고는 공정한 기록에 의해서, 컴퓨터 모의 실험, 및 학문, 그리고 충돌 사고 역동성, 도로 및 교통 공학으로 검증되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는, 교통사고, 과학, 객관적인 방법을 이용하여 진짜 교통사고 및 결과를 재현하였다. 모의실험 결과 포장도로와 비포장도로에서는 비포장도로의 제동시간이 포장도로의 제동시간 보다 짧다는 것이 입증되었다.
