The Analysis of Neuro-Fuzzy on External Factors of Sleep and Personal Sleep Arousal (뉴로-퍼지를 이용한 수면 외적 요인과 개인 수면 각성의 관계 영향 요소 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of sleep environment on individual sleep and to calculate optimal sleep environment. The input and output data sets are selected and the optimized sleep environment information is calculated using the neuro-fuzzy technique. Provides optimal sleep environment considering sleep duration. The arousal ratio calculated by the proposed method is 12%, which is at least 5% lower than the previous studies.

  • In this paper, we propose a system that collects data from sensors that detect the sleeping environment and adjusts the sleeping environment optimally based on the environment to help you get a good night's sleep. The sleep environment analysis is based on the determination of the sleep stage by detection of twisting through the load cell. In addition, based on data such as temperature, humidity, and illuminance, heat devices, humidifiers, blinds, etc. are controlled to create an environment in which to have a good sleep. The sleep environment control according to the sleep state can reduce fatigue when waking up by inducing a sleep state that is easy to wake up.

  • This paper reports on the results of a questionnaire survey on actual conditions of sleep environment, sleep problems and sleep patterns in bedroom of house. The objectives of survey are: 1) classifying Korean people into several groups by sleep environment condition, sleep problem and life pattern, 2) describing the characteristics of user groups, and 3) searching needs of support for each user group. Despite of several studies about sleep condition that researched in advance, they weren't considered about user's respective characters. So it seems necessary for more studies about users' needs, and segment users to grasp their each detail needs. Therefore, this study conducted questionnaire survey gathering relevant information to classify user groups and to investigate the current bedroom condition. In the result, 702 respondents were divided into six clusters by extracted eight factors. Four clusters of them had some problems for sleep, so it could be seen that they need environmental solution for their good sleep. As the further objective, it will be connected to develop the good sleep system.

  • As the demand for quality sleep increases in modern society, the importance of sleep technology has increased. Recently, development of sleep environment improvement products and research on the user's sleep improvement have been activated. Representatively, user sleep pattern analysis research is being conducted through the existing polysomnography, but it is difficult to use it in the sleep environment of daily life. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a system design that can provide a customized deep sleep service to users by detecting sleep disturbance factors in a motion bed environment. In order to improve the user's sleep satisfaction, a logistic regression-based sleep pattern analysis model is proposed and accuracy and significance are verified through experiments. And to improve user's sleep satisfaction, we propose a logistic regression-based sleep pattern analysis model and verify accuracy and significance through experiments. The proposed system is expected to improve the user's sleep quality and effectively prevent and manage sleep disorders.

  • In this paper, provide the optimal sleep environment of individual by extracting the simulation model based on that collect sleep environment data of bedroom to sleeping, and analyzing the relationship between conditions with obtained data and sleep. In addition, it was to provide a more stable sleep solution by defining different and pattern from sleep situation according to physical condition such as fatigue ratio, alcohol ratio, fasting ratio, etc. depending on the sleep process. Therefore, it change the proper indoor environment and help to enjoy life more pleasant.

  • Entering the modern society, due to changes in daily life as well as social life, the sleep deprivation and unsatisfactory sleep environment that modern people have, ranked the lowest in the sleep deprivation nation in the world and the lowest in the nation considered to be sleep deprivation. This is about 'sleep pillows using Arduino,' which can improve the 'sleep environment', which is the 2nd largest cause of sleep deprivation. The few minutes before you go to sleep, the moment of time, can determine the quality of your sleep, and the quality of your sleep determines the satisfaction of your daily life. Using Arduino, you can improve the quality of your sleep through various functions. Through Arduino, you can create a sleeping environment for the sleeper by adjusting the sleeper's breathing measurement, lighting, and Bluetooth speaker and create an environment that suits you. Through this, we will be able to improve the sleep deprivation of modern people and have a more prosperous life.

  • Sleep has big influence on our life, for example productivity, character formation of babies, mortality and the people who suffered from sleep problem are also diverse. Therefore, indoor environmental supports for good sleep, might be different with the situation and need of respective person. The objectives of this study are: 1) to investigate the current bedroom condition, sleep problem, and life pattern of Korean. 2) to classify Korean into several groups and explain their characteristics relevant to sleep, in order to understand Korean's need for good sleep. The questionnaire was sent out to Seoul and its environs in Jan.$\sim$Feb. 2008, and total of 702 questionnaires were collected. The research on the bedroom condition was conducted around perceived influence of environmental factors, opening and closing of the door, cooling and heating strategy, clo value during sleep, bedding type, lighting, sharing bedroom. People are divided into 6 groups by 8 factors, and 5 groups could be seen that they need some management for good sleep because of their sleep problem.

  • This paper collect sleep environment data of bedroom to sleeping, and analyzing the relationship between conditions with obtained data and sleep. We provide the optimal sleep environment of individual by extracting the simulation model based on it. The experiments was using temperature/humidity sensor(SHT11) and ambient light sensors(GL5507). For extraction of tossing and turning, we use difference image method in motion extraction from video. In addition, the information of weight can affect to sleep, it was entered such as ratio of fatigue, drinking, empty stomach. As a result, we are able to extract the optimal sleep environment. The future, we will try to improve to help to lead more pleasant daily life providing proper indoor environment changes depending on the situation even a partial of organic ubiquitous living environments such as eating, work ete. as well as certain sleep circumstances.

Based on this, system provide the optimal sleep environment of individual person by extracting the simulation model. The experiments of system was using H-MOTE2420 sensor composed of temperature/humidity sensor and ambient light sensors. We use difference image method in motion extraction from video for extraction of tossing and turning. In addition, it was entered such as ratio of fatigue, ratio of drinking, ratio of empty stomach as the information of weight can affect to sleep. Resultingly of experience, we can extract the optimal sleep environment. From now on, we will try to enhance to help to lead more pleasant daily life providing proper indoor environment changes depending on the situation even a partial of organic living environments such as eating and work as well as special sleep circumstances.

Investigation of 'First-Night Effect' in Normal Young Adult Male Subjects on Polysomnography (젊은 정상인 남자에서 수면다원기록상의 '첫날밤 효과' 분석)

  • Objectives : 'First-night effect' has been a well-known concept since 1960's. It is important because it is one of the major factors to be considered in assessing the reliability of polysomnographic data. However, 'reverse first-night effect' has also been described, resulting in the inconsistency of conceptualization. We attempted to investigate on the first-night effect in adults by having each of them take two nights of polysomnography in a controlled environment. Young healthy adult volunteers were chosen as subjects in order to rule out age- or health-related confounders. Methods : Polysomnography was performed on eight male medical students (mean $age=23.5\;{\pm}\;0.9$) for two nights with Grass model 78 polysomnograph. We scored manually under the standard protocol each epoch of the sleep records. Sleep variables were obtained and compared between the two nights. Results : Sleep period time(SPT) and total sleep time(TST) of the third fraction of night were significantly longer on the first night than on the second night (p<0.05). However, other sleep variables such as percentage of each sleep stage, sleep latency, REM sleep latency, number of waking, and sleep efficiency were not different between the two nights. Conclusion : We could not confirm the existence of first-night effect in this study. In healthy young male adults, it may not happen at all or may happen to a very negligible degree. Young healthy adults may have more adaptability to a new sleep environment. Also, the provision of a reasonably comfortable sleep environment could have helped them with abolition of first-night effect.
