A Framework for Product Development including HW and SW Components (하드웨어와 소프트웨어가 포함된 제품개발을 위한 프레임워크)

  • This paper proposes a framework for product development including hardware and software components. The framework provides separation of the hardware dependent software, an integrated product development process, and integration of software components with product configurations and product structures. In order to separates the hardware dependent software, the framework considers product configuration modules and engineering changes of associated hardware and software components. The proposed product development process integrates development of the hardware dependent software into the existing product development process. In order to integrates the hardware dependent software with product configurations and product structures, the framework represents software components by existing product data models in Product Data Management (PDM). The framework is applied to development of a robot system including hardware and software components in order to show its effectiveness.

  • As robotic technology expands into various fields, robots need to execute some complicated tasks in diverse environments. However, the previous robotic software solutions were limited to independent systems. We can not adapt to diverse functionalities and environments. This makes it hard to provide rapid and effective services and leads to costs and losses in the development process. To overcome these problems, we propose a robot software framework with behavior trees based on ROS2. This framework simplifies complex robot behaviors through behavior trees and makes it easy to modify, extend, and reuse robot behaviors. Furthermore, ROS2 standardizes connections between software modules, enhances the robot's flexibility, and enables independent development and testing of software. Our framework aims to provide a foundation for high-quality robot service provision by supporting the modularity, reusability, independent development, and testing required by intelligent robots that need to provide services in various environments.

  • Both Optimization and Reuse Technology are considered as core technologies handling the values of products in embedded software. Framework technology is a typical type of optimization and reuse technology. When we develop software based on framework, The effect of reusability as well as development productivity can be improved. However, currently the form of framework-based development is very poor in embedded software development. Furthermore, because framework development is also beginning stage in embedded software development, there are questions whether developing framework can bring reusability effect. In this paper, we propose metrics measuring reusability of framework which is designed for improving reusability of embedded software. As as result of applying proposed metrics into real design cases, we can obtain more effective results in framework-based design than existing design.

  • Distributed agile software development faces difficulties for instance lack of visibility across development and delivery processes, complex and disjointed development processes, inability to capitalize on business opportunities, lack of communication agility between disconnected owners, development teams, and users or clients. However these difficulties are solved with the help of cloud computing services. This study proposes a framework to provide a skeletal or structural environment for distributed agile software development in cloud computing environment. The framework guide towards the best tooling to deliver a consistent, automated, governed, and unified agile software development process with reduced technical debt, and minimized project backlog. In addition to this, the study highlights the benefits of cloud computing in agile software development.

  • Agile methods are highly attractive for small projects, but no agile method works well as a standalone system. Therefore, some adaption or customization is always required. In this paper, the Agile Framework for Small Projects (AFSP) was applied to four industry cases. The AFSP provides a structured way for software organizations to adopt agile practices and evaluate the results. The framework includes an extended Scrum process and agile practices, which are based on agility and critical success factors in agile software projects that are selected from Scrum, XP, FDD, DSDM and Crystal Clear. AFSP also helps software managers and developers effectively use agile engineering techniques throughout the software development lifecycle. The case study projects were evaluated on the basis of risk-based agility factors, the agility of the adopted practices, agile adoption levels, and the degree of the agile project success. The analysis of the results showed that the framework used in the aforementioned cases was effective.

Design and Implementation of a Framework for Automatically Generating Control and Monitoring Software

  • In this paper, we present a framework that is easy to develop, modify, maintain and extend a control and monitoring software for any kinds of instruments. The presented framework is composed of three XML documents (IID, MAP, and CMIML) and two tools (Virtual Instrument Wizard, Generator). Interface information about behaviors and states of instruments is written on IID. Mapping information between the interface information in IID and API of a real instrument driver is written on MAP. Finally information about control and monitoring software is written on CMIML. IID, MAP and CMIML are written with XML format to provide common usage and platform independence of the suggested framework. VI Wizard generates CMIML (platform independent intermediate document) using IID and existing CMIML, and Generator generates source code of a control and monitoring software (platform dependent code) automatically using CMIML and MAP. The suggested framework that automatically generates control and monitoring software based on GUI provides easy development and maintenance. Also, reusability can be increased by reusing platform independent software description documents.

  • When we conduct development of a large-size SI project, it is highly necessary to utilize an appropriate application framework which helps to build a qualified software with high productivity in a short period of time. In this paper, we propose the architecture of a dynamically reconfigurable CBD application integration framework that has been used for developing large-scale e-business applications to achieve high development productivity and maintainability. This Integration framework can easily extend its functionalities, and dynamically change its configuration during run time according to the business category, such as applying interaction patterns among main components in software architecture, rules, policies, and environmental parameters. Dynamic reconfiguration has the feature to make applications be easily customized for changeable requirements. Through our application integration framework, huge sizes of contents can be managed according to the business category as well, by keeping configuration informations and huge volumes of source codes. In order to evaluate out application integration framework in terms of performance criteria, we present experimental results of throughputs from the framework by yielding dynamic configuration without any performance degradation.

  • The rapid growth of communication and globalization has changed the software engineering process. Security has become a crucial component of any software system. However, software developers often lack the knowledge and skills needed to develop secure software. Clearly, the creation of secure software requires more than simply mandating the use of a secure software development lifecycle; the components produced by each stage of the lifecycle must be correctly implemented for the resulting system to achieve its intended goals. This study demonstrates that a more effective approach to the development of secure software can result from the integration of carefully selected security patterns into appropriate stages of the software development lifecycle to ensure that security designs are correctly implemented. The goal of this study is to provide developers with an Integrated Security Development Framework (ISDF) that can assist them in building more secure software.

  • Software System Evolution is more planned and systematic maintenance process as well as a type of maintenance. The research of software evolution provides basis of decisions for maintenance value through cost-benefit analysis of legacy system and architecture-based software evolution enables engineers to reduce maintenance cost by automation of repetitive evolution tasks. This paper proposes a framework for software system evolution using architectural transformation pattern.

  • Robotic software has been dramatically complicated as performing intelligent service tasks. These types of robots demand a very powerful software framework to make them easy. Robotic software framework means an integrated software environment that simplifies jobs of robotic software engineer by providing tools, reusable components, and runtime environments. Finally it reduces the project cost. There are lots of works related with them. Among them we focus on five frameworks that are MSRDS, ERSP, OROCOS, OpenRTM, and OPRoS. In terms of intelligent service robot, the study on robotic software frameworks is very important. And outlook on them is also very important in the sense of that the robotic software frameworks should be used to initiate service robot market.
