  • Current landscape management is focused towards managing uniformly, such as setting a limit on building's height and managing by putting first priority on building. For this reason, broader impact of landscape has not been studies thoroughly, and it was considered to be an important factor of not being able to operate diverse and active landscape management. Accordingly, the objective of this particular research to establish concrete and diverse device for managing landscape by adapting Map Algebra and Spatial Statistics, as one of the means of efficient landscape management, and applying the effectiveness of each landscape element in numerical value. Furthermore, this research was done in order to make a spatial estimation possible for resources to be located in compliance with each facility or landscape condition of individual region.

  • Collapse of a huge structural material has brought about enormous loss of lives and property. Every construction may be destroyed by the nature's power and careless mistake of human as well as its own defect. So a great number of concern and detailed managing technique are demanded not in constructing work but also in management of constructed material. The Interest of construction safety has Increased rapidly and a plenty of effort has been attempted to manage systematically. In this study, the use of FM(Facilities Management) as a branch of GSIS(Geo-spatial Information System) was developed to offer the users convenient managing achievement and establishment of history managing system in the bridge management system. This study accomplished dividing all information of images, photos, drawing and etc. into their items of time, material and the person in charge, and developed to stue and maintain those items in database. Related database which is composed of recording of check, retrieving and adding the data was accomplished to an easy access of database, and by using these data as output for example images, m display, report and hard copy, this system was proved to help manage efficiently in bridge management system.

  • Due to development of environment of wireless Internet, location based services on the basis of spatial data have been increased such as real time traffic information as well as CNS(Car Navigation System) to provide mobile user with route guidance to the destination. However, the current application adopting the file-based system has limitation of managing and storing the huge amount of spatial data. In order to supplement this challenge, research which is capable of managing large amounts of spatial data based on embedded database system is surely demanded. For this reason, this study aims to suggest the lossless compression technique by using the hybrid approach of BytePacking and Lempel-Ziv which can be applicable in DBMS so as to save a mass spatial data efficiently. We apply the proposed compression technique to actual the Seoul and Inchcon metropolitan area and compared the existing method with suggested one using the same data through analyzing the query processing duration until the reconstruction. As a result of comparison, we have come to the conclusion that suggested technique is far more performance on spatial data demanding high location accuracy than the previous techniques.

  • The capacity concept presented in the Highway Capacity Manual is for steady-state traffic flow assuming that there is no restriction in downstream flowing, which is traditionally used for planning, design, and operational analyses. In the congested traffic condition, the control objective should be to keep the congested regime from growing and to recover the normal traffic condition as soon as possible. In this control case, it is important to predict the spatial-temporal pattern of congestion evolution or dissipation and to estimate the throughput reduction according to the spatial-temporal pattern. In this context, the new concept of dynamic capacity for managing congested traffic is developed in terms of spatial-temporal evolution of downstream traffic congestion and in view of the 'input' concept assuming that flow is restricted by downstream condition rather than the 'output' concept assuming that there is no restriction in downstream flowing (e.g. the mean queue discharge flow rate). This new capacity is defined as the Maximum Sustainable Throughput that is determined based on the spatial-temporal evolution pattern of downstream congestion. And the spatial-temporal evolution pattern is estimated using the Newell's simplified q-k model.

  • The study of pedestrian behavior covers wide topics, including way finding, choice and decision make, as well as spatial cognition and environmental perception. To address the problem, simulation is now put forward as suitable technique and method for analyzing human spatial behavior. In the paper we present a development architecture for simulating tracking pedestrian in a distributed environment. We introduce and explore the potential of using mobile agent-enabled distributed implementation model as a tool for development and implementation of the simulation. Three kinds of mobile agents are designed for implementation of managing and querying data of pedestrian. Finally, simulation result of JR 10,000 passengers’ movement is developed and implemented as a case study.

  • As the digital retail environement becomes prevalent, consumers are given greater opportunities to make purchases across physical and digital boundaries. Prior research emphasizes that the attractiveness of the digital or online channel is relatively determined by spatial specifics of physical locations. The overall market trend combined with prior research suggests that understanding spatial specifics becomes a key to managing both offline and online sales performance together. In this study, we focus on geographic variation in sales performance through offline and online channels and aim to investigate the channel-level sales difference between central and subsidiary areas. To this end, we obtain sales data of skincare and makeup products from a leading cosmetic company. Next, we examine spatial autocorrelations in data and then employ the spatial error models to study the effects of spatial specifics. The empirical findings are as follows. First, there are significant differences in category-specific and channel-level sales between central and subsidiary areas. Second, Moran's I statistics demonstrate the spatial autocorrelations of each variable. Third, spatial error models outperform simple regression models with lower AIC values. Finally, spatial specifics play a greater role in understanding online sales in subsidiary areas whereas they exert greater influence on offline sales in central areas. We believe our study advances the related theory and knowledge of multi-channel retailing and also contributes practically to location-dependent multi-channel strategies and sales data analytics.

  • Recently, the importance of geoCRM (geographic Customer Relationship Management) systems are growing rapidly. So, result of the recognition that their applications extend well beyond the traditional CRM systems with the advent of ubiquitous environment and generalized location based services. A majority of traditional CRM systems are either incapable of managing spatial data or are not user-friendly when doing so. On the other hand, the geoCRM systems can be built as providing the geographic-based functions about CRM, including spatial and market analyses and the visualization of customer data, etc. However, it lacks the specific model and implementation of the geoCRM systems, being caused by the incomprehension of needs, the absence of related standards and the difficulties of development, and so on. In this paper, we develop a new spatial analysis supporting system that to enhance productivity through the convenient use and management of spatial data. The functionality provided by our system includes a set of analysis functions based on data mining techniques which allow a user to affect powerful transformation on spatial data. Particularly, both spatial data and non-spatial attributes can be efficiently handled as an object through our OODBMS.

  • The growth of vacant housing has been problematic in both Korea and other countries as it causes various socio-economic problems and negatively affects residential environments. Despite the importance of effectively managing vacant housing, few studies have been undertaken regarding spatial patterns of vacant housing growth. This study aims to examine spatial dependence in vacant housing growth. We used 2005 and 2015 Population and Housing Census and employed spatial modeling. The empirical analysis shows that there is spatial dependence in vacant housing growth. Also, the spatial clusters of growing vacant housing are present in the non-capital region and nearby cities while the spatial clusters of declining vacant housing are present in the capital region. The policy implications of this study are as follows: First, local governments should make collaborate efforts with geographically proximate cities for more effective management of vacant housing. Second, given that vacant housing is more prevalent and growing in the non-capital region, it is necessary to employ differential policies to manage housing vacancy between the capital and non-capital regions.

  • The goal of this research was to build comprehensive and systematic basic materials related to IT industry and spatial design. In this research, the trend in spatial design research and its categories are identified and analyzed. The research results show that spatial design researches related to web have declined for last five years. However, a new possibility appears to be latent. An attempt to build database of diverse design information has led to increase in fusion of spatial design education and IT technology from design perspective. Futhermore, residents of space are becoming more active, starting from spatial design to management. Finally, from th environmental perspective, researches on predicting and managing buildings are also growing. Accordingly, diverse researches and financial support for grafting creative education, design process, environment-friendly IT technology and spatial design are needed.
