  • This document illustrates the way to control of coiling temperature(CTC) of stip tail part in minimill process. The coiling temperature (CT) is very important fact in hot rolling process because the mechnical properties of strip depend on it. In mini-mill pocess, the speed pattern of rolling is different from that of conventional hot rolling. We have a lot of difficulties in controlling the coiling temperature at strip tail part, because after the strip tail is passed out the final stand, it's impossible to control the coiling temperature by using coiling speed. So we have CT deveiation in this gauge, about 160$^{\circ}C$ below in comparison with target CT. It's clear that deviation of mechanical properties(tensile strength, vield ratio etc) of strip to direction of length is so large, so we could not produce middle carbon steel, like this temperature condition. New coiling temperature control of strip especially in strip tail was developed.   • A trial run of locally-developed tilting train has been in process on Chungbuk line since the test vehicle was first produced. For the system stabilization, interface verification among the systems including track, structure, catenary and signaling system, not to mention the rolling stock, is very crucial. Therefore, in this study, the dynamic rail force of the tilting (Hanvit 200), high-speed (KTX) and general (Mugunghwa) vehicle caused by driving in transition curve track was measured. And, it compared the tilting response with the other by using the measured wheel load data in transition curve track, and then evaluated probability the range of wheel load fluctuation for the variable dynamic vertical and lateral wheel load. As a result, a range of wheel load by occured a change of cant from the high-speed and general vehicle which had fixed bogie structure was distributed throughout small deviation (${\Delta}8{\sim}13kN$). Otherwise, in case of the tilting train which was consisted of the pendulum bogie structure was distributed wide range about large deviation (${\Delta}25{\sim}28kN$) by changed of cant.

The Development of a Failure Diagnosis System for High-Speed Manufacturing of a Paper Cup-Forming Machine (다품종 종이용기의 고속 생산을 위한 고장 진단 시스템 개발)

  • Recently, as demand for various paper containers has rapidly grown, it is inevitable that paper cup-forming machines have increased their manufacturing speed. However, the faster manufacturing speed naturally brings more frequent manufacturing failures, which decreases manufacturing efficiency. As such, it is necessary to develop a system that monitors the failures in real time and diagnoses the failure progress in advance. In this research, a paper cup-forming machine diagnosis system was developed. Three major failure targets, paper deviation, temperature failure, and abnormal vibration, which dominantly affect the manufacturing process when they occur, were monitored and diagnosed. To evaluate the developed diagnosis system, extensive experiments were performed with the actual data gathered from the paper cup-forming machine. Furthermore, the desired system validation was obtained. The proposed system is expected to anticipate and prevent serious promising failures in advance and lower the final defect rate considerably.

Effects on the Vehicle Running Speed Analysis according to the Speed Reduction Road Facilities (속도저감형 시설이 차량 주행 속도에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • It has been applied several ways in order to prevent traffic accidents and speed management on the road which is one of very important factors to prevent accidents. In this study, it is analyzed whether the facility such as the flashing and crosswalk, speed cameras and intermittent warning signs affect on a driving deceleration or not. It has been shown that the flashing and crosswalk and speed cameras except intermittent warning signs play a role of reducing the driving speed. The result showed that these traffic safety facilities help to improve the average speed as well as velocity distribution which was derived by the speed deviation even if there were the difference between facilities. Speed limit display does not affect the deceleration of the driver. Therefore, it was founded in this research that there were the driving speed reduction effect due to the facilities on the road. In order to control the driving speed on the road, it is necessary to install facilities with appropriate location and spacing on the road. In addition, place that turns out suppressed speeding through speed management also are required adequate facilities such as speed cameras.

  • The reliability of antenna tower designed for a n-year design wind speed is determined by considering the variability of the strength of the component members and of the mean wind speed. For obtaining the n-year design wind speed, maximum annual wind speed is assumed to follow Gumbel Type-1 distribution. Following this distribution of the wind speed, the mean and standard deviation of stresses in each component member are worked out. The variability of the strength of members is defined by means of the nominal strength and a coefficient of variation. The probability of failure of the critical members of tower is determined by the first order second moment method (FOSM) of reliability analysis. Using the above method, the reliability against allowable stress failure of the critical members as well as the system reliabilities for a 75 m tall antenna tower, designed for n-year design wind speed, are presented.

  • Serious injuries and deaths due to multi-jointed robot occur when a man mispercepts. especially during robot teaching and maintenance work. Since industrial robots often operate with unpredictable motion patterns, establishment of safe speed limit of robot arm is indispensable. An experimental emergency conditions were simulated with a multi-jointed robot. and response characteristics of human operators were measured. The result showed that failure type, robot arm axis. and robot arm speed had significant effects on human reaction time. The reaction time was slightly increased with robot arm speed. though it showed somewhat different pattern owing to failure type. Furthermore the reaction time to the axis which could flex or extend. acting on a workpiece directly. was fastest and its standard deviation was small. The robot arm speed limit securing a‘possible contact zone’based on overrun distance was about 25cm/sec. and in this sense the validity of safe speed limits suggested by many precedent researchers were discussed.

  • As the NNSS system calculates ship's position by the doppler shift of the NNSS radio waves caused by the change of the distance between Transit Satellite and the ship, ship's speed error inevitably results in the position error, and moreover this kind of erroris most dominant compared with other errors especially in high speed ships and airplanes. Most NNSS receivers now in use have adoptedsuccessive short doppler counts as positioning data and by investigating the dispersion of serval successive positions calculated and by neglecting the mean position having dispersion of over certain threshold level, more accurate adn safe position is to be achieved. This paper proposes the method of finding ship's true speed by selecting a speed having least position dispersion for given successive doppler counts. And by computer simulation it was verified that the method proposed here is reasonable in finding the ship's desired correct speed together with the correct ship's position.

  • Air Wiping technique is widely used because of easy and efficient coating control in present CGL. Coaring weight is decided by nozzle header pressure, strip line speed and distance between strip and nozzle. Coating defects are results from unbalance of these factors and coating equipment calibration inaccuracy. Therefore, this study is mainly dealing with the cause of coating defects such as edge overcoating and coating deviation. The coptimum working condition is suggested by formulated coating model using collected working data. We developed two demension analysis program for air flow in nozzle and calculated dynamic pressure and air velocity with this program. The productivity and coating guality are improved by applying the result of this reserach.

  • Recent trends of development in small size gasoline engines are both to have higher compression ratio for the purpose of improved fuel consumption and to advance spark timing up to DBL in a low to mid engine speed region for a good acceleration performance of vehicles. However, there occurs the deviation of corrected engine torque results during engine performance test on dynamometer because test conditions influence the onset of knock. Therefore, this research shows the test deviation of corrected engine torque decreases when knock correction rate is used.

  • Air wiping technique is widely used because of easy and efficient coating control in present CGL The coating weight is controlled by nozzle header pressure. strip line speed, and the distance between strip and nozzle. Coating defects are resulted from the unbalance of these control factors and the inaccuracy of coating equipments. We investigates the main cause of coating defects, such as edge overcoating and coating deviation through various experiments. It is found that the edge overcoating is mainly come from nozzle lip type, and the coating deviation is caused by the unbalance of dynamic pressure.
