Instantaneous Speed and Mechanical Inertia Moment Estimation for the improvement of the Low Speed Control Characteristics of Induction Machines (유도전동기 저속 운전 특성 개선을 위한 순시 속도 및 기계관성모먼트 추정)

  • The purpose of this paper is the improvement of the speed control characteristics of induction machines suited the low resolution incremental-type encoder in a low speed region. In order to improve the control characteristics in a low speed range, we propose that the instantaneous speed control method by the instantaneous speed detection which is implemented by the disturbance torque observer. Also, in case of the speed control by the instantaneous speed detection, the simple estimation method of the mechanical inertia moment is proposed. We will the carry out the mathematical verification of the proposed theory by the theoretic advisement connected with the convergence relationship of the estimated inertia moment to the real mechanical inertia moment. Computer simulations and experiments by the IGBT inverter adopting DSP is performed to verify the proposed method.

  • In the speed control system of motors using the low resolution rotary encoder, the period of encoder pulse becomes longer than the sampling time for speed control in the range of very low speed. Therefore, it is difficult to obtain accurate speed information. In this paper, the speed estimating method at the very low speed region using reduced order torque observer, which has been widely used, is examined. The results of simulation show that the characteristics of the speed control at the very low speed region is improved by using the reduced order torque observer.

  • This paper presents speed control characteristics of capacitor-run SPIM(Single Phase Induction Motor) using TRIAC for comparing and analyzing four kinds of voltage control methods such as supply voltage control, main winding voltage control, auxiliary winding voltage control and auxiliary winding voltage control without starting capacitor. The computer simulations were performed using MATLAB Simulink to show control characteristics of four voltage control methods. And their control characteristics were conformed by experiments for capacitor-run 90W SPIM as a sample motor. The results of simulations and experiments show that supply voltage control method has fast dynamic response characteristics and main winding voltage control method has higher power efficiency and can be implemented at lower system cost.

  • Recently, the importance of electro-multifunction control valve which is digital control valve is increasing day after day. This is due to the demand of that the current industrial world wants the valve having simpler control circuit and higher operation reliability. It is the PWM controlled high speed electronic valve that satisfies the damands of current industrial world. But, the PWM controlled high speed electronic valve has some non-linearity characteristics like as the delay time of switching and the pressure oscillation phenomenon. These characteristics are an obstacle for the control of high speed & high efficiency in control system. Therefore, in this study, we set the studying purpose on analysis of parameter characteristics in solenoid, and on establishment of optimum design technique in high speed solenoid.

  • In industry, the speed control of single-phase induction motor in domestic use is generally controlled by a simple ON-OFF or PID control method. However, in this case, in order to have a good speed regulating characteristics, itself should be modified in accordance with the optimum PID factors which are varied each time operating speed changes. Shortening the development time and saving the cost which are needed to modify the controller is a major problem to be solved now in industry. In order to alleviate the above difficulties, it is proposed to apply adaptive control technique using MRFAC(Model Reference Following Adaptive Control) for the speed control of single-phase induction motor which has scarcely been studied. In this paper, the above speed control technique is achieved using MCS-96 one chip micro controller with a good speed control characteristics and it is expetted to open a wide application field in the speed control of single-phase induction motor in the future.

  • The paper is focusing on investigating the control characteristics of the baseline controller of 5 MW wind turbine provided by NREL(National Renewable Energy Laboratory). The baseline controller consist of two control logics, a maximum power tracking control below the rated wind speed and a constant power control above the rated wind speed. In the low wind speed, the mean generator power for changing the turbulent intensity and the optimal constant is studied through numerical simulations using FAST program. On the other hand, the constant power control logic and the constant control logic are compared in the high wind speed. It is confirmed that optimal constant is closely related to the turbulent intensity in low wind speed region and the constant torque control has better performance than the constant power control with respect to mechanical load in high wind speed region.

  • To improve control performance, especially positioning speed, of a pneumatic positioning system, dynamic characteristics of a control valve should be considered. In case we design controller including dynamic characteristics of a control valve, it's not easy to design controller gain using simple state feedback because degree of a control system is increased. This study designed controller using loop shaping of $H_{\infty}$ control theory for a model composed of a pneumatic actuator and a control valve, and positioning experiment using this controller was performed. As a result, it was verified that the controller is useful for high speed positioning of a pneumatic positioning system.

  • In this paper, vibration characteristics after applying variable speed control to fans with a rated speed used in a power plant are studied by performing experiments and analyzing finite element models. Then the campbell diagram is presented to verify the reason of the abnormal vibration measured from fan structure during variable operation of Forced Draft Fan & Induced Draft Fan. According to results, it is found that amplitude of acceleration increases abruptly when a 2X harmonic component meets the natural frequency of fan rotor. Therefore it is very important thing that investigate exactly dynamic characteristics for the rotor at variable speed zone before applying variable speed control to a rotor with a rated speed.

  • The controller for magnetically suspended vehicles considering the speed characteristics is presented. Generally, the attraction force of magnet is determined by input current and air gap. However, when MAGLEV runs at high speed, induced eddy currents in the rail decrease the attraction force. Thus control characteristics of MAGLEV become deteriorated. Therefore, the variation of attraction force according to speed must be considered. Thus we analyzed the speed characteristics of the magnet by FEM. Also, we study on the control characteristics according to speeds, and design the controller considering the decline of levitation force using Neural Network.

  • This paper describes the controller for the improving speed control the AC servo motor. The microprocessor provides an output to the difference in command. The servo system improves the characteristics of speed control. When the motor is running at the same speed as set by the reference signal, the speed encoder also provides a signal of the same frequency. Thus, the microprocessor controlled digital techniques enable to realize the flexible performance and control which was possible with time constant. We can know that optimal speed of machining center is 75msec in 30000mm/min and actually, 75msec is using on machining center. Finally experimental results prove excellent performance of this control system. This can be reduced error with more exact measure of actual speed. The system can be adaptable to CNC machine.
