  • Estimating the accurate internal state of lithium ion batteries to increase their safety and efficiency is crucial. Various algorithms are used to estimate the internal state of a lithium ion battery, such as the extended Kalman filter and sliding mode observer. A state-space model is essential in using algorithms to estimate the internal state of a battery. Two principal methods are used to express the state-space model, namely, continuous time and discrete time. In this work, the extended Kalman filter is employed to estimate the internal state of a battery. Moreover, this work presents and analyzes the estimation performance of algorithms consisting of a continuous time state-space model and a discrete time state-space model through static and dynamic profiles.

  • This paper presents a method of hierarchical state estimation of the time-varying linear systems via Block-pulse function(BPF). When we estimate the state of the systems where noise is considered, it is very difficult to obtain the solutions because minimum error variance matrix having a form of matrix nonlinear differential equations is included in the filter gain calculation. Therefore, hierarchical approach is adapted to transpose matrix nonlinear differential equations to a sum of low order state space equation from and Block-pulse functions are used for solving each low order state space equation in the form of simple and recursive algebraic equation. We believe that presented methods are very attractive nd proper for state estimation of time-varying linear systems on account of its simplicity and computational convenience. • This paper aims to investigate the vibration analysis of functionally graded porous (FGP) beams using State-space approach with several classical and non-classical boundary conditions. The materials properties of the porous FG beams are considered to have even and uneven distributions profiles along the thickness direction. The equation of motion for FGP beams with various boundary conditions is obtained through Hamilton's principle. State-space approach is used to obtain the governing equation of porous FG beam. The comparison of the results of this study with those in the literature validates the present analysis. The effects of span-to-depth ratio (L/h), of distribution shape of porosity and others parameters on the dynamic behavior of the beams are described. The results show that the boundary conditions, the geometry of the beams and the distribution shape of porosity affect the fundamental frequencies of the beams.

  • This study is proposed to develop a numerical interaction model of the magnetically levitated(maglev) train and guideway. For this purpose, equation of motion for 6-DOF vehicle model, EMS, guideway and guideway irregularity are derived as the state-space equation. In order to solve the state space equations, the present work was performed via matlab simulation using Runge-Kutta method. Through the simulation, the effect of dynamic response of maglev system to different vehicle speeds, guideway rigidity(EI) and masses is investigated.

  • A state-space method is proposed to analyze the aerodynamically coupled flutter problems of long-span bridges based on the modal coordinates of structure. The theory about complex modes is applied in this paper. The general governing equation of the system is converted into a complex standard characteristic equation in a state space format, which contains only two variables. The proposed method is a single-parameter searching method about reduced velocity, and it need not choose the participating modes beforehand and has no requirement for the form of structure damping matrix. The information about variations of system characteristics with reduced velocity and wind velocity can be provided. The method is able to find automatically the lowest critical flutter velocity and give relative amplitudes, phases and energy ratios of the participating modes in the flutter motion. Moreover, the flutter analysis of Jiangyin Yangtse suspension bridge with 1385 m main span is performed. The proposed method has proved reliable in its methodology and efficient in its use.

  • In this paper we introduce the reciprocal-negative Fermat's equation induced by the famous equation in the Fermat's Last Theorem, establish the general solution in the simplest cases and the differential solution to the equation, and investigate, then, the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability in a $quasi-{\beta}-normed$ space with both the direct estimation method and the fixed point approach.

  • We consider an infinite dimensional dynamical system what is called Lattice Dynamical System given by a discrete nonlinear diffusion equation. By assuming the nonlinearity to be a general nonlinear function with mild restrictions, we show that as the diffusion parameter changes the stationery state of the given system undergoes bifurcations from the zero state to a bounded invariant set or a 3- or 4-periodic state in the global phase space of the given system according to the values of the coefficients of the linear part of the given nonlinearity.

  • In this paper, we consider the following Kirchhoff type equation on the whole space $$\{-(a+b{\displaystyle\smashmargin{2}{\int\nolimits_{{\mathbb{R}}^3}}}\;{\mid}{\nabla}u{\mid}^2dx){\Delta}u=u^5+{\lambda}k(x)g(u),\;x{\in}{\mathbb{R}}^3,\\u{\in}{\mathcal{D}}^{1,2}({\mathbb{R}}^3),$$ where λ > 0 is a real number and k, g satisfy some conditions. We mainly investigate the existence of ground state solution via variational method and concentration-compactness principle.

  • The optimal control and filtering problems for the systems with the generalized state space model are considered and the generalized Riccati equation is derived. Also the algorithm for the solution of the generalized algebraic Riccati equation is developed and it is shown that the algotithm can be applied to the case where the matrix R is singular or near singular.
