Despite a lot of efforts, school violence is getting severe nowadays and especially it seems remarkably occurring among middle school students. Many studies show that most school violence occur in classrooms where the students spend most of their time in studying and socializing for their everyday life. The purpose of this study is to identify design elements of middle school classroom and to suggest some design plans for preventing school violence, in the point of view of CPTED. For this objective, six middle schools were selected from Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and the questionnaire and survey were conducted to identify the status of school violence and the physical classroom environment in each schools. An analysis was carried using SPSS to identify the correlation between the school violence and the physical environmental design elements. The results are as follows : although each selected school shows different status of school violence and the physical environment in classrooms, commonly the occurrence and the fear of violence are related to the classroom environment. Therefore, In order to plan classroom for preventing school violence, 'the proper size of classroom avoiding overcrowd', 'elevation design for the sense of belonging and territoriality', 'improvement of deteriorated environment' should be considered for reduce the causes of violence. And 'maximization of natural surveillance from hallway', 'accessibility of teacher' should be considered for rapid management of violence.
The reality of violence involving youth has recently increased and has become a serious social problem. The study was done to identity violence related feetors including types of assault, victim status and a violence preventive plan. The subjects were students in boy's high schools in the Jinju area and data were collected through a questionnaire. The research was done to demonstrate the seriousness of school violence and to determine the origins of the problems present measures to eradicate school violence. 1. The types of assault included slander, violent language to classmates, destroying school property, stealing money by beating and violent conduct, sexual harrassment or sexual violence. About 19% of the high school students had experience as violent assaulters. The reasons for such assault were abuse by the victim, discontent at home & school and for amusement with friends without any reason. 2. With respect to the status of damage by violence most cases took place within the school which is considered to be safe for students. Violence such as slander, abuse, violence language, disregarding or excluding took place the most at school and in case of the assaulter it was a college student or a student in the senior grad. 3. As for measure to prevent violence identified by the students, the need to provide space for youth leisure activity was listed as important along with the need for guidance for the future which took into account suitability related to the student's ability and the need to get rid of education mainly for entrance exams. Endeavors to prevent violence must be persistent in all aspect, so that such inhuman like violence will not appear and the negative elements raised by youth will be solved one by one.
This study is a comprehensive overview about recent school violence sought to find ways to cope. To this end, previous studies and recent data were analyzed systematically. With the results of the analysis, this study presents the status, causes and countermeasures of school violence. The results of this study are as follows: School violence is becoming increasingly diverse. The age of the perpetrator is getting increasingly younger. Girls' school violence is increasing. Perpetrators and victims, the distinction is unclear. Verbal and emotional violence is increasing. The persistence of violence are increasing. And the corresponding level of awareness about school violence is very low. The development of the psychological characteristics of adolescent school violence and personal effects caused by psychological characteristics are complex. School violence is caused by family, school and society factors. School violence is caused by the lack of response. School Violence Action Plan should be considered development psychological characteristics of adolescence and psychological characteristics of each individual. Measures include school violence, there is an individual's psychological Measures. There are environmental Measures such as home, school and society. There are measures related with environmental factors. There is school violence prevention Program.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the factors related to violence victimization between multicultural and Korean-origin adolescents. Methods: This study used the data of the 2017 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey. A total of 54,748 multicultral and Korean-origin adolescents were included in the analysis. Weighted percentage and means were used to describe the sample. Simple and multiple logistic regressions were conducted using SAS 9.2. Results: The multicultural adolescents experienced more violence victimization than Korean-origin adolescents. In both groups, middle school students, habitual drug users, and those not living with their family showed a greater risk of becoming a victim of violence. In Korean-origin adolescents, while girls and those with mid-level family economic status showed a lower risk, those who had experienced sadness or despair, suicidal ideation, smoking and problematic drinking showed a higher risk of becoming a violence victim. In multicultural adolescents, those with a lower subjective health status and a lower stress level had a higher risk of violence victimization. Conclusion: Results of this study suggest that the factors significantly related to violence victimization differ between multicultural and Korean-origin adolescents. Therefore, different approaches are required for the prevention and management of violence victimization in different populations.
This study aims at more exactly identifying current status and trend of the school violence in elementary schools. Many previous studies have addressed the issue with their own views and methodologies, and mostly ended up as one-time works without subsequent observation over years. From such respective studies, we could hardly figure out an integral and precise shape on the school violence in terms of fact and tendency. To my knowledge, this is the first time-lag design on the school violence which is conducted nation wide, where the same concepts and measures were applied to the population. The research conclusions are follows: (1) both offenders and victims of the school violence tend to increase, (2) compared 10 girls, boys have more experience of the school violence, and (3) both offenders and victims could be recruited from the same group.
Objective: To investigate the physical therapists' actual experience of workplace violence and examine its relationship with depression, burnout, subjective health status, and job and life satisfaction. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The level of workplace violence was assessed using the Korean Workplace Violence Scale composed of 24 questions in the following 4 subscales of workplace violence. Depression was assessed using the Korean version of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9. Burnout was assessed using the Korean version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey, which is a 5-item scale. Subjective health status was measured on a 5-point scale. Job and life satisfaction was measured based on the assessment tool used in the World Values Survey. Results: There was a significant correlation between the three subscales of workplace violence and health indicators, including depression, subjective health status, job and life satisfaction (p<0.05). The organizational protective system subscale showed a significant negative correlation with depression and a positive correlation with subjective health status as well as job and life satisfaction (p<0.05). The area of 'psychological and sexual violence from customers' showed a significant moderate correlation with depression and job satisfaction (p<0.05). Also, there was a negative correlation that was significant between depression and subjective health status, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction (p<0.05). Conclusions: This study suggested that future studies should continue to investigate and reveal the causal relationships between workplace violence and physical therapists' health indicators.

Background: Workplace violence was recognized to be social problems that might impact the health status and the job satisfaction of employee in hospitals. This study investigated the current status of violence and job stress among hospital employees working at administration and discharging department. Methods: The study subjects were 213 administrative employees working at 20 general hospitals. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaire that included information such as demographics, job-related characteristics, experience of violence, and job stress. The violence was classified as verbal violence, physical threat, and physical violence occurred by patients and caregivers. Analysis of variance, t-tests, correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis were performed to examine the associated factors with job stress. Results: The levels of verbal violence, physical threat, and physical violence were $1.64{\pm}1.08$, $0.54{\pm}0.67$, and $0.04{\pm}0.17$, respectively. The score of job stress was $2.74{\pm}0.50$ and it was associated with age, existence of spouse, drinking frequency, subjective health status, disease history, night-time treatment, and public health administration career in simple analysis. In multiple linear regression analysis, the level of verbal violence experience was significantly associated with job stress (B=0.09, p=0.001). Also physical threats (B=0.18, p<0.001) and physical violence (B=0.48, p=0.008) showed positive association with job stress. Conclusion: This study attempted to examine the association between experience of violence and job stress in administrative employees at medical institutions. Levels of violence showed positive correlation with the job stress. Environment improvement to protect employee from violence and management of employees who experienced workplace violence are needed to reduce the job stress.
In this study, As youth school violence is emerging as a serious social problem, this study needs to actively respond to school violence to prevent and reduce the proportion of secondary cyber violence by examining previous studies related to school violence. By recognizing problems through comparative analysis of the recent status and characteristics of school violence according to changes in the educational environment after COVID-19, we intend to find the right direction for schools, families, and communities to cope with school violence. The analysis data is a psychology that takes into account the change in the educational environment caused by COVID-19 through the first survey of school violence in 2021 by the Ministry of Education. It is meaningful to suggest directions and alternatives to prevent school violence and solve school violence problems by strengthening teachers' responsibility and improving their ability to cope efficiently.
Purpose: The study aimed to identify factors affecting unintentional injuries at school focusing on violent experiences in adolescents. Methods: The study used the raw data of the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (2019). A total of 60,040 students were included in the analysis. Descriptive statistics, χ2 test, and multiple logistic regression were performed, using SPSS version 25.0. General characteristics, gender, school, academic achievement, living with family, socioeconomic status, vigorous physical activity, perceived stress, sleep satisfaction, high caffeine drinking, risky alcohol drinking, smoking, sexual experience, drug use, and safety education, were adjusted for and the relationship between unintentional injuries and violence was analyzed. Results: The results showed 2.4% of the adolescents had experienced violence and 24.7% had suffered unintentional injuries. Violent experiences had a significant effect on unintentional injuries among adolescents. Injuries were 1.93 times higher among adolescents who had experienced violence. Gender, school levels, high-intensity physical activity, stress, sleep satisfaction, high caffeine drinks, dangerous drinking, drug use, and safety education were associated with unintentional injuries among adolescents. Conclusion: Adolescents at high risk of suffering violence and injuries should be identified and assessed preemptively. In addition, it is necessary to implement systematic school health-centered safety education programs in order to prevent violence and injuries.
The police have executed the priority projects for the eradication of school violence as part of governmental comprehensive measures and the role of the police as law enforcement agencies to combat school violence is expected to be further strengthened. In this regard, this study proposes several alternative policies for police activities of school violence prevention. First, it is required to establish clear legal basis for activities of school police and recruitment and education programs to enhance their professionalism. Second, we must look for ways to ensure the accountability of parties involved in school violence such as school and parents. Third, it is necessary to promote 117 call actively which has comprehensive hotline function in school violence and enhance the professionalism of counselors for promoting the victim reporting. Finally, there is a need for differential police response according to the degree of risk of school violence.
